Absolutely loved the show as a kid. I have the English version. But the hindi dubbing was top class. Need to know if it is on internet anywhere.
I was watching many many videos from yesteryears and listening to these stalwarts itself gives the goosebumps. All these leaders had shortcomings, something that is natural of human beings. But, these were individuals so scholarly. These folks had the intellectual capacity take on any questions and speak coherently. After listening to them and to their biography and I am saddened at the current crop of national leaders. Really saddened.
Saw a news article of how Vajpayee credited Rao for the Nuclear tests. Can we imagine Modi crediting anything to previous governments ? or anyone in the current opposition doing anything similar if they come to power!
Lal Bahadur Shastri's first speech to India as Prime Minister
> There comes a time in the life of every nation when it stands at the cross-roads of history and must choose which way to go. But for us there need be no difficulty or hesitation, no looking to right or left. Our way is straight and clearβthe building up of a socialist democracy at home with freedom and prosperity for all, and the maintenance of world peace and friendship with all nations abroad. To that straight road and to these shining ideals we re-dedicate ourselves today.

> Political democracy and the way it has functioned in our country is surely a great achievement. Here again we owe an immeasurable debt to Jawaharlalji for his deep attachment to democracy as a form of Government and as a way of life.
...
> With him has ended the great age which Gandhiji began and Jawaharlalji consolidated. We have now to build on the firm foundations they have left behind. Let us then bend ourselves to the great tasks before us βan India free, prosperous and strong and a world at peace and without war. These would he the most fitting memorials to Gandhiji and Jawaharlal.
USSR was allegedly unhappy with Nehru's policy of non-alignment, which Lal Bahadur Shastri consistently adhered to, and intended to bring more loyal forces to power in India.
why would the Soviets change leadership in India if the 1950s saw Indo-Soviet rapprochement (a trade agreement in 1953, Nehru's visit to Moscow in 1955, the consideration of the Soviet Union as an ally in the confrontation with China),

I was thinking:
Therefore, what if the Soviets after determining that Indians as a nation, were a bunch of ignorant and greedy cheats decided to collude with the USA and allow this corruption to thrive in India?
Indira Gandhi was allowed to rise to power - they must have known what sort of a person she was/the Nehru family dynasty.
End result - modern India - very corrupt, very weak, ready for a wholesale slaughter in a war with the USA/USSR.
Which is why I feel zap-and-study is important for the world.. if a bunch of corrupt thugs plan on ruling the world BY FRIGHTENING the worlds population into doing stupid things/slavery - we/everyone might as well get a good scientific education in the process so that we can resist the plotting scumbags better.
(not accusing anyone of a conspiracy - pointing out that while we ourselves are corrupt the truth hides from us)
r/indianripoff for actual contributions wrt India - the space is a bit smelly but workable
