A list of puns related to "Sessility"
Something I've noticed in the animal kingdom is that many unrelated groups of animals have evolved either total or partial sessility, or the inability to move freely in their environment. Examples would be barnacles, mussels or female scale bugs. What selective advantage is their to "forting up" and staying in one place for the organism's entire life?
I was told i had a single sessile gall baldder polyp during an abdominal scan which was not done specifically for gall bladder but was rather a general scan Niw im told this sessile gall blader polyp would grow in size and become cancerous. Man im too scared . Mine is 4.5mm is size and just 23yo. Any views on this being cancerous?
how could plant-like aliens acquire nutrients other than photosynthesis and chemosynthesis
Has anyone done an alien ecology where there are no true plants, just sessile juvenile animals that eventually mature into motile adults, some of which graze (or prey depending how you look at it) on the juveniles? Can anyone think of drawbacks to this system? Maybe plants or fully sessile animals that have a less complicated life cycle would have an edge over these organisms?

A semi-common staple of science fiction alien life and made famous by the Sarlacc of Star Wars, a beast such as this fulfills a niche similar to that of a sea anemone on dry land. Though the antlion's young lives a similar life prior to maturation and some pitcher plants can take on rats, what factors in our world have prevented the evolution of a sessile terrestrial carnivore that can pose a threat to human-sized beings or above? What sort of hurdles would such a species have to overcome? My thanks for any answer.
