My son started Tae Kwon Do four years ago with a non-accredited group. He is now on the verge of a black belt (his current rank is Conditional Black belt), but we unfortunately need to change where he trains. We aren’t interested in him pursuing this at a high stress level, or really even competitively right now, but he loves it. This has been such a fantastic outlet for him, and I want to see him continue.
We have been told by one other ATA studio that he can “test in”, and not have to start over in belt rankings. Then if he sticks with Tae Kwon Do, he will have that belt honored at any other studio if need be.
How important is this? I want my kiddo to continue this as a hobby, and have the freedom to be recognized as a black belt if he wants to pursue it into adulthood, college, etc. His current studio has become extremely negative and mis-managed. I don’t want it to crush his spirit and accomplishments.

I guess most of you are aware of the IAPO by now. I'm just curious about the community's thoughts on this.
Animators and authors have been working really hard to create great entertainment for us. Despite that, due to Japan's culture, it seems that they are not properly rewarded and often overworked. Plus, with piracy around, they are also making losses.
Personally, I do think that anti-piracy is a good thing for animators, content creators, etc. By purchasing content from legal means, be it streaming, reading, merchandises, it really supports their work.
HOWEVER, in order to curb piracy and properly reward them, there are certain things that are still plaguing the industry as a whole.
1. Contents are not readily available in the world.
Yes, there are licensed distributors around like Funimation, Crunchyroll, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, etc. BUT, these legal means of access are so limited. Despite having access to them, the contents that they offer are limited and restricted by region due to copyrights. I'm not sure if this applies to Funimation and other streaming sites but Netlix, Crunchyroll and Amazon Prime has really limited content. This is one of the reasons which forced me to use "other sites" *ahemm ahemm*.
As a reference, I come from Malaysia.. an Asian country known for the wrong reasons. I subscribed to Netflix, Crunchyroll and Amazon Prime but dropped them except for Netflix. I compared the offered contents in different Netflix regions, and they are all so limited! Even like Slime Diaries isn't available in most regions. Worst part is Crunchyroll's contents are SOOOO LIMITED TO US and vpn doesn't work well. (I use NordVPN).
Funimation isn't available here and they strictly do not allow VPN.
2. Content quality is not always the best on licensed sites. Not just english subs for anime but licensed english prints for light novels and manga.
I noticed that most of the time, fan translations are so much better than the licensed ones. One reason is that those licensed translations are people who just translate Japanese to English. They are not fans who love the content and translate them to English which fits the context of the story. I think most of you would be able to notice this.
Though, fan translations are not always perfect. But, I've always been really impressed with their dedication and they would go the extra mile to add notes to explain what something means..... someth
Seeing how U.S. media and so-called social-political groups have tried to silence and suppress any evidence of anti-Asian hate crimes and racism and at the same time amplify, manipulate information and create propaganda to make Asians (especially Chinese people) seem like the enemy has given me a really weird sense of "I've seen this before somewhere else ..."
As an example, in Nicaragua in 2018 the U.S. government financed and organized a huge network of criminals, journalists, priests and members of the church, politicians and brain-washed students who later carried out an attempted government overthrow.
They used student protests as a smoke screen, while at the same time their hired guns went around setting up road blocks, murdering, kidnapping, torturing Sandinista civilians and government officials and raping women.
Any evidence of violence being done to the "enemy" was silenced and suppressed.
Any social media accounts and videos on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter with evidence against their "narrative" that were gaining lots of views were quickly shutdown and banned. This continued on for months straight.
Once the Nicaraguan government started to fight back and Sandinista civilians armed up and formed paramilitary groups then the priests, church members, "international community" and U.S.-controlled media used every tool to their disposal to paint Sandinistas as criminals and monsters.
Social media groups, international western news outlets, international "human rights" groups all worked 24/7 to spew out misinformation and propaganda. It was unreal.
This basically proves just how much control the U.S. government and their "allies" have on what people see and hear in the media.
They can absolutely spin the narrative, create an enemy out of nothing, attack certain groups and carry out atrocities in other countries all while shouting "we defend democracy, human rights, the freedom of the press and freedom of expression!".

I was recently reading about "highway revolts" in the US, specifically how opposition to Robert Moses' freeway projects in the city where I live (Portland) coalesced into a major public campaign that helped create the MAX (our light rail system -- see this article). This got me wondering whether there are any organizations devoted to educating/protesting/lobbying against cars today. I know there are various environmental and other orgs that support mass transit, but is there anything specifically dedicated to opposing cars, new car infrastructure, suburban sprawl, etc? I don't mean people on YouTube or whatever, but actual groups organizing at various levels of society.
In my opinion individualistic solutions just won't cut it if we actually want to get rid of cars and create livable cities. Biking, taking transit, or writing to your mayor are all great, but we need action on a mass scale.
