I passed my checkride and I officially have my private pilots license to fly helicopters!!

Checkrides are terrifying. Anyone who has done one can tell you that. But I passed! Now on to more ratings and certifications!!

Going into my retake of the practical test for my private pilot license checkride tomorrow….what happens after a second failure?

I’ve scoured the web looking for an answer and I’m not sure like what happens after a second failure. Do you get credit for what you did right again or will you be back at square 1 and redo the entire checkride?

UPDATE: I passed. But this whole situation made clear that I want to get more flight training.

Recommended flight school for private pilots license?

Has anyone gotten their PPL in the Boulder region? Looking for recommendation of flight school if you have any experience with this. There are a number available(seems to be a ton in Broomfield), and I'm not really sure how to choose.

There are a few recommendations in this thread from last year, but just hoping to see if anyone has any other reccos: https://old.reddit.com/r/boulder/comments/mmd5tv/pilots_of_boulder/

I think it would be cool to have a plane and be able to fly over Malaysia and then return to Singapore... Not that I can afford this... BUT if I could, does anyone know how long it would take to get the license?

Many thanks in advance :)

Part 107 drone license for private pilot

Hi,

I was just wondering if the process of getting part 107 drone license is different for private pilot license owners? Do I still need to take the $175 faa exam? And if I do, would you say I need extra study if I passed my private pilot written test recently with a decent score? Thank you!

Earning a private pilots license. Any recommendations for flight schools in the greater Seattle area?

Hi all,

I'm fortunate enough to start flight training this summer. I can live anywhere within the greater Seattle area, so I'm having a hard time deciding which flight school to pick. I'm trying to optimize for cost and availability. Does anyone have suggestions?

Here are the flight schools I've researched so far from previous threads:

Rainier Flight Service - based in Renton, good for training

Galvin Flight School - expensive, and slow, but great quality

ProFlight - based in Renton, good for training

Can you get a private pilot license while enlisted in a ground-based job?

I just saw that some bases have private pilot clubs on base. How do these work? Is this a free benefit as part of the Air Force, or do you still have to pay for flight time & instruction? Seems like it would be cool to learn on the side, but would eat up all of your paycheck if you had to pay out of pocket still.

I want to learn to fly an aircraft / Get a Private Pilot License

So I'm an undergrad who'll be coming to Pune next year for my first job in a consulting firm.

It has always been a dream to learn to fly an aircraft. I was checking out and a few aviation institutes in India have weekend courses where you can complete your flight hours requirement and get a PP licence in 6-8 months.

Can anybody guide me on this? Is it too early? 8-9L is the cost according to what I've heard. I think I can afford it with a little help from my parents. Actually I'm that type of a person who likes to enjoy life and explore, and I believe I won't get time later on as I climb the corporate ladder.

Any aviation institute you know of near Kharadi within 10-20 kms that suit my requirements? Also, any other advice would be much appreciated.

Curious to understand where someone could go with a private pilots license

Hey guys,

So I was just curious as to how traveling to different locations with a private pilots licenses works exactly. Lets say you have your own plane at a local private airport. Can you just hop in and take off and fly around? Can you pick a destination within range and fly and land there on a whim or do you need to plan the trip with the destination airport? Is there a list of airports you can travel to and from?

Sorry for the very basic questions, this was just something I was curious about and wondering how much freedom you have. Thanks!

New guard Aviation LT wanting to pursue civilian airlines in the future. Obtaining a private pilot license can cost up to 10k plus. The goal is to take the minimum amount for flight school then pay it off as quickly as possible. Is this possible and is this a good idea financially? (Also currently have no student debt)

Does anyone consider having their private pilots license to be a good value?

I’ve got the feeling that this is going to be received in the same way that I take people telling me how great it must be to β€œhave all that free fish” since I own a boat and fish, but I’m asking anyway.

Do any of y’all feel like having your private pilots license is a good value or is it more of the intangibles hat make it worth having? Have you been able take trips or vacations for cheaper or ones that you wouldn’t have been able to take otherwise?

I’d love to get my pilots license for the freedom of travel aspect, but it’s hard to justify the costs of actually flying on top of the other expenses of certification. I think I already know the answer, but I’m interested to hear about it from people who are actually living the life I envy.

Question about private pilot license/leisure use

I did my first discover flight today. I was amazed how much the instructor let me control the aircraft and had a lot of fun (went in a piper warrior).

Living in Houston, I find we have a lot of cool places within hours reach and am considering going after my private pilots license

  1. Will the private pilots license allow me to go to places like New Orleans on my own, or is instrument rating highly recommended
  2. I am getting a LOT of variation in operating cost for Cesna 172's. What would be the cost to maintain a cessna 172 citing about 150 hours of flight time a year?
  3. How many hours would you recommend on a cessna 172 before upgrading to a new aircraft? What would you recommend as the next step up?
  4. Any cheaper planes that can fly around 180 knots or so?
  5. Is a cesna 172 similar to a piper warrior?
  6. How many hours until I Can fly a twin prop like a piper seneca?

Private Pilot License in Japan?

Hey πŸ‘‹ I’d really appreciate any advices on getting PPL in Japan (or maybe abroad?). I have a few questions that I’m mostly looking answers for, but please share any thoughts you have.

I know that’s going to be expensive, but if someone could throw exact numbers that’d be nice.

Another thing that I’m curious about is the language, I can’t speak Japanese, I know that in aviation English is the primary language, is that also applicable to Japan? Can I take lessons in English and fly in Japan with only English?

I’d also appreciate any links to fly schools in Japan.

And the last one, not that important but kinda curious, if I buy/rent an aircraft, how much would I pay for a parking space at an airport assuming I’m not able to park it in my driveway. :D
