A list of puns related to "Powerplay"
So me and my buddy just got SUPER into the game but really we have been mainly roleplaying as communists because why not? We've been hanging out in Communist and Cooperative systems and Its fun to go against the space capitalism. Anyway I am not well versed with any of the lore and when I read about the factions I start to get kinda overwhelmed. Can anyone give me a short run down on commie friendly powerplay people? Thanks!
Edit: If you are rolling in to make an ignorant comment just move on. I'm trying to play a Communist in a space game that is obviously not reality. I don't need a lecture on how communism will fail.
Even the other 2 commentators had to take a second to control their laugh and get back to commenting. Mad respect to Harsha, I sometimes doubt if he plans these phrases before going to sleep the night before or something.

There are obviously issues with our powerplay. And while a slump is some of it I saw this goal the other night that seems to do a lot of things right that the leafs Powerplay is doing wrong.
Playing from the lower half of the ice. If you take a look at this clip. The entire time there are 4 avs below the circles, usually below the hashmarks.
They don't have a "net front" guy. There isn't an Av who is sitting in front of the net the entire time, instead they have guys near the net moving around.
A legitimate shot threat from the point. The highlight of this play is Makar's fake shot, and how it catches the defenders looking.
Playing from below the goal line. They don't score on it but the play does start with the puck below the goal line. This is a great way of disrupting a PK and causing the goalie issues.
There is lots of movement on this play. Mackinnon starts down low and kicks up high for the shot that ends up scoring.
I think the leafs should PP should look more like this. I am tired of seeing Matthews-Rielly-Marner playing pass at the blue line, that ends up with a Matthews shot that is deflected out. Teams know that Marner and Rielly aren't going to score from up there, and so they just cheat to the Matthews shot.
While the highlight of this play does come from Makar at the top near the blue-line. He is able to do so because of the team playing so low down in the ice. With 4 Avs below the faceoff circles, including below the goal line, the PK is forced to collapse down low to try to cover it. When the puck is kicked out to Makar at the point he can walk into and sell the shot. This is clearly a much more dangerous shot than Rielly skating backwards along the blue line.
For the net front: I think the idea of Simmonds or someone else who's sole job it is to sit in front of the net doesn't work very well. The 2 D-men are already going to be in front of the net and that player is just easier to cover. This team isn't built to score from screened slapshots from the point. Having guys who can move into the slot and collect the rebound is more useful than someone essentially covering themselves for free in front of the net.
Finally the movement. The leafs Powerplay has looked really stagnant recently. They get to their spot, then don't move much, just probe around looking for a cross seam pass. Early on in the season when they were getting those passes through it worked great, creating arguably the m
... keep reading on reddit β‘I'm in my third year of hockey fandom and I've started to pick up on various plays that seem to be frequently used.
I haven't been able to figure out why almost every zone entry I see during a powerplay involves a drop-pass while going through the neutral zone. I don't really see this play utilized to the same degree during 5v5. Can anyone explain this one to me?
Thanks /r/hockey!
