The first State Visit of French leaders to Romania since socialism, it seems that this visit has brought the hope of cooperation between the only two Latin socialist states in the world.
The two French leaders met with President of the State Council Emil Bᴏᴅɴᴀ̆ʀᴀs̗, Prime Minister Ion G. Mᴀᴜᴇʀ and General Secretary of the Romanian Communist Party, Alexandru Dʀᴀ̆ɢʜɪᴄɪ.
Rol-Tanguy and Bodnăraș would then later sign a Franco-Romanian Treaty of Friendship, declaring everlasting friendship between the Romanian nation and the various integral nations of France. Rol-Tanguy and Mitterand would then visit various Romanian artists, Romanian students at the University of Bucharest, and Romanian workers at a local factory. They would then move on to visiting Patriarch Justinian of Romania at Romanian Patriarchal Cathedral, where they showed their respect to the Orthodox Church.
