I'm in Texas, buying in cash and leaving behind a Fiat 124 Spider lease. I'm stuck between buying the two following cars in cash, with my priorities being enjoyable to drive, fun to gently upgrade (a hardtop in the Porsche's case), and reasonable value:

I am looking at a 2007 Porsche Boxster 5MT base with 130k miles as a fun car. I currently own a 2017 Mazda CX-5 as my daily, and I plan on driving the Boxster on the weekends and maybe do some autocross.
I have always liked the look and sound of the 987 Boxster, but I have never driven one and I have limited experience driving a manual. What are the general thoughts on the 987.1 generation?
I found a promising listing for about $16,000 at a dealer about 90 minutes away from me. I've scheduled a test drive for Saturday, and I would like to know what issues to look for.
Lastly, if I like the car I would like to know what you think a fair price would be. I can pay cash, but I would be willing to finance a portion to get a better deal and continue building credit.
