I heard they took down a lot of German planes, for their style of fighting... but I can't find any confirmation.
The dominant British method was firing directly into the ship and its deck to kill the enemy, and perhaps damage and even sink the ship.
It seems strange to me that they would be willing to allow the annexation of two sovereign countries, one of which couldn't even be justified on the pretext of German unification, but not the much smaller area of the Polish Corridor. Are there any contemporary documents setting out their reasoning?
