I read this book some time between 2013-2017 at a primary school. It was about a young boy (I’d say he was either a teenager or younger) in a society where the ‘PeterPan injection exists’. It’s set in the future.
The PeterPan injection is expensive and used to stop children from growing up. Adults have anti-ageing products that keep them looking young, but the downside is that it makes having children really difficult and rare. This was the reason behind making the PeterPan injection. As a result of how rare children are, they get sold around for thousands of dollars/pounds and are instantly made to get the injection.
I vaguely remember 3 events of the story-
At some point, the main character meets a group of children who have all been injected with the PeterPan concoction, so essentially, they are adults and elders stuck in a child’s body. The boy gets taken under the wing of one of these characters, but eventually leaves them.
There is also a point when the main character almost gets injected with the PeterPan thing, but decides that he doesn’t actually want it.
The story ends with the main character meeting a girl who, like him, hasn’t had the injection. They grow up and have many children.
I apologise if my explanation of the book was messy or vague, but I’d really appreciate any help finding it.

I read a book a few years ago about a woman returning to her hometown.
When she was young she was part of a group of kids (one of them was her brother) and they all used to play together. The parents of the kids were friends and would all hang out together.
One of the girls was being sexually abused by her father and her appearance slowly deteriorated as she tried to repel him. Her and her father end up going missing and the book is to try and figure out what happened to them.
In the book as youngsters they do a play of peterpan. One of the girls plays the crocodile and so is given the nickname “tok” because the crocodile swallows the click that goes “tik tok”. This particular girl ends up marrying the brother of the narrator.
Any help would be amazing. I’ve been trying to think of the book for years. Google hasn’t helped!
