What to do after the Storm leaves.
I have heard a thousand times that people simply do not know what to do after the storm is over. I thought that I would put together a quick little synopsis from the standpoint of an adjuster.
Check on your family, friends and pets immediately. βStuffβ can be replaced, loved ones cannot.
Now, the clean up begins. If there is water coming into the home, you need to stop additional damages from occurring. Part of your contract with the insurance company is for you to attempt to stop further damage from occurring, so put the tarp up, or have someone do it for you, cover the broken windows, even cardboard will help. Make sure that you save ALL your receipts, beginning with any additional costs you incur from evacuating. All of them.
Our lives and our property have been turned upside down, and we know that we really need to call the insurance company and file a claim, so do that next, get on the list for the insurance company to send an adjuster out. It will not be immediate, a lot of people have damages and getting on the list early will speed up the process.
While you have the insurance company on the telephone, the very first time, verify what your coverage's are and your limits for βDwellingβ, βContentsβ, βAdditional living expensesβ and exactly WHAT clean up is included. For example, if there is a tree on your home, the insurance company will pay to have it removed. That may not necessarily be true if it is not laying on your house and may only be included as part of the general clean up with a separate limit.
Know this information before the adjuster arrives, it will only make this process move along faster.
Take photographs of everything. The home from all sides, every room, every wall. If there is damage to any part of the home, use a tape measure in the picture. Everything you can do will make it easier for the adjuster and quicker for you to get your money and get the repairs started, and your life back to normal.
ANYTHING electronic take a picture of the manufacturers label. Computer, TV, Refrigerator. A refrigerator full of rotted food after a week with no power should really not be cleaned, it should be replaced.
Now, for your stuff. In the insurance world, we call that your contents. It is expected that some of it will be ruined and will need to be disposed of. Take a photograph of any item that you are throwing away before you dispose of it. This is CRITICAL in proving that the belongings existed. We ca

I attended the revival in 1999. Iβm looking for others who were also there at any time during the active years and would really REALLY like to find some people who worked on the inside. Good experiences and bad, I would like to hear all of them.
If youβre uncomfortable posting here please DM me.
SOUTHCOM, or San Diego? And what are the chances of traveling to Cuba, Spain, Italy or the UK?
^(There probably won't be any pictures in this thread. I have to type all of this on my phone's data because the WiFi blocks both Reddit and imgur. Also, throwaway account since this thread is probably super illegal. AlsoAlso, I'm aware that I haven't been here that long. Treat this like a reporter/whistleblower journaling his experience. Lastly, yes, this was originally posted on r/casualama. I want as much information to be out on the internet, especially in the post-accreditation age of the school.)
I just got off the boat and let me tell you, it's weird. Pensacola Christian College is a private, independent, fundamental baptist college located in Pensacola, FL. I recommend you look it up, especially the rulebook called The Pathway.
Here's a super short list of the rules that I broke in my first few weeks...
I'll try to answer as many questions as I can when I can. Chances are, I'll see your reply no matter how late you are in the game. AMA
EDIT: Honestly, I'm loving these questions. I'm so glad so much is getting out about this school. I see almost every one so keep the comments flowing!
EDIT 2 - The Sequel: The thread might be dying slowly but I'm still replying. My goal is to get out as much info as I can.
Good afternoon r/Pensacola. I will be in town this weekend for my bachelor party and I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to catch a ride via boat along the inter-coastal from Pensacola Beach (or close) to Flora-Bama (or close) for a group of 10 total on Friday this week. It appears there are a lot of boats that will take up to 6 people, but ideally we'd all be able to stick together. Anyone know of a captain with a boat that would take our group of 10? Anyone have a boat and want to make some $? Any thoughts would be appreciated. (I did search this community's reddit and only found advice about rental prices for smaller groups taking their own boat). At worst we'll just Uber/party bus. Thanks all.
Hey, I'm making a comedy video/sketch, and I would love your help! The theme is "things you don't hear Pensacola people say." You should just have a couple of funny one or two-liners. And If I use your joke, I'll give you credit! Just tell me what name to use. Bear in mind these are just jokes, and not meant to really offend anyone.
Some example include:
Lend me your jokes! Thank you!
Just wondering the age group of people in Pensacola that use Reddit.
I'll go first. 16
I always see comments with people warning others to get away from Pensacola as fast as possible. From having lived in Pensacola for half a year, what's all the hype about?
The only negatives I saw while I was there was the Bible thumpers on the corner and the occasional traffic when trying to get to the beach after work. I suppose it might not be the best place to find a spouse or raise a family, but it's still a better scene than a lot of places I've lived. People act like once you're here, you're stuck here forever. Is it because Pensacola has a bad reputation and companies don't want to relocate residents? Or it's so alluring that it becomes difficult to leave once you settle in? Help me understand the negativity.
