Hi, I wanted to install high Sierra on my Intel core 2 duo laptop but the opencore guide only has laptop arrandale. What do I do?

The GPU is plugged into the laptop display as it has no igpu.

I've been wanting to get into BIOS modding and embedded dev for quite some time, and recently I finished a project on an ESP32 board in FreeRTOS, so I wanted to start working a bit more with C lately, as well as bios stuff.

 

Buying a Thinkpad T400 / T420 / T430 or X200 / X220 / X230 seems like a nice solution for that, or perhaps a cheap motherboard from coreboot supported list.

 

I'm just wondering, which platform should I pick? I remember Penryn being the only one that can truly go "libre", aka deblobbed, but then, Ivy has Intel ME and some proprietary blobs, and I feel like I'd be missing out on that.. However, I can get Penryn for cheaper. Others are quite pricey here..

Hey! When using the sanity checker the only error I get it is " Big Sur 11.3 CPUFAMILY_INTEL_PENRYN patch is missing or incorrect" what does this mean and how do i fix it?

I just got accepted to the program in the title at the penryn campus and I’m wondering if anyone here has experience with the program and can tell me a little about it. I’ve looked into it quite a bit but only on the website and I’d love to hear from someone who has experienced it first hand. I’m trying to decide between this program and a similar one at Sussex and it’s a hard choice. Actually I’m from America and have never been to the UK so really any insight about the school, Cornwall, the penryn campus or anything would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi everyone, new to sub by the way so not sure if this fits.

Just wondering if any of you lovely people could share some local knowledge about renting in Cornwall. I've been finding it difficult to find my next place to move into, so I'm now extending my contract in the small place I live in near Helston, despite planning to move out to Falmouth/Penryn in March. Places are proving to be difficult to find in our price range (£800ish all in for a 1/2 bed flat).

I'm now here until May 21st. I know Covid and the 'lockdown' has probably stagnated everything a bit, but can anyone tell me if generally, in Cornwall, there are plenty of places becoming available to rent for April and May? My thoughts were that there may be less in the summer because of the massive market for holidaymakers, but i'm new to the area so could do with some advice. Any other thoughts on the topic would be much appreciated too.

Hey so I'm moving down to Falmouth in a month and i really enjoy skateboarding, I was hoping to bring my board with me but have no idea what most of the area is like as I'm coming from the north. I was wondering if anyone would be able to give me a heads up to any places that are particularly good for skateboarding?

Really not sure what to choose, exeter was my insurance and may be possible through CAGs but I don't know if there will be a significant rise in graduate prospects to warrant such a late switch.

I'm worried that Leicester is not a respected law school having not researched it very much.

Just a heads up, not 24 hour this week, going to be closed between midnight and 6am.

Ok so I get this is old outdated hardware but this made a big difference in noise and heat output. The original T5750 idles at 53C on one core with good thermal paste where the new T9300 idles at around 37c. My laptop is by no means quiet and is always audible but dropping under that 50c mark makes my fan run at about half the noise level. I think socket P core 2 duo laptops is one of the best upgrades you can make as you can get the uplift from a 1.6ghz or even 1.4ghz to a super fast 3ghz t9900 in some cases.

Is there reasonable free parking around Penryn Campus? Hoping to live in Falmouth and commute to campus.
