A list of puns related to "Parasolid"
I found a fantastic CAD model but the problem is all the sub-assemblies are fixed and I cannot change them to floats (I attached a screenshot). The problem is, when I open the assemblies that I want to make floats, the individual parts in there also don't have an option to change to float (another screenshot is there). In the end, I want to do a motion study of the crankshaft turning with the pistons going up and down.
I was thinking of just making a new assembly and placing in the parts but I would run into the same problem where I can't change the sub-assemblies to floats. How can I go about this?
edit- I looked online and they said to disable 3D interconnect. I did that, re-imported the parasolid, and it didn't work.

Hi everyone!! i'm sorry if a make a few mistakes with my english. i have used spaceclaim and imported a stl file but now i can only save it as spaceclaim file and i really need it in parasolid. why arent any more formats other than "spaceclaim file" available? how do i fix it?
Hey there,
I'm looking for a designer who can make changes to a .x_t extension file. It a Parasolid file we need to make a few changes to it. Our current designer is unwell and not in a condition to work so we need a guy who can do this job for us. Will explain everything that is required.
We'll pay you accordingly.
Hello Reddit,
Currently trying to pick a CAD package for our growing startup. we had an extensive video call with a team at "Solid Edge" where they painted a doom and gloom scenario of Solidworks switching their kernel to be same as Catia.
Has Solidworks indicated that they are planning to change the Kernal from Parasolid to something else?
all I can find is this article from 2011
So for various reasons I ended up investing in SpaceClaim for my CAD package. It has a good sheet metal package and that's what I'm working in 99% of the time.
My main manufacturer uses Solid Edge so that was fine, but now I may be doing more design work where I need to send files to SW shops.
So I was wondering if SolidWorks does better at importing Parasolid files over STEP files for sheet metal designs?
I can turn real life objects into CAD with 3D scanning and reverse engineering. I can 3D scan your physical parts and use the resulting mesh/point cloud to create a 3D model for production, 3D print, design modification, or reverse engineering. I can even reverse engineer broken or damaged parts to help you reclaim a priceless memento.
I use a very specific 3D scanning process to analyze your real world objects and then place them into a digitized world. For Residential, Commercial, and Industrial Projects - I'll capture the most accuracy obtained from your parts (and objects). My recent scans include a United States Dime and Antique Rare Key.
The original object was not destroyed or harmed in any way (non-contact), which is how I will treat each scan job with every single one of my clients. Stop by inquire about your next project, Private message me your details.
I perform a complete service including post work to get your point cloud into any format desirable for your direct requirements. Some example is (but not limited to): STL, OBJ, AMF, XML, 3MF, STEP (STP, stpz, stpxz), SLDPRT, etc.
Every part is different and each 3D scanning technology has its strengths and weaknesses. I'll select the right technology for your object and parts. This will help ensure the fastest possible lead times and the lowest cost. The first consideration when selecting a 3D scanning technology is the minimum detail required for your project. Each project will receive:

Over the past 16 years, I always thought of myself as more than a vendor. My goal is to be a partner to my clients throughout their entire product development process.
I love challenges. Problems to me, means I just havenβt found the correct applicable answer yet. Using technology available as my tool I peek into technical issues to uncover the solution. I love working with clients to solve all kinds of design or engineering problem.
Having the entire product development process u

I have access to a 4 and 5 axis CNC machine through an aquantance at work (he currently is set up for AR lowers). Talked to him today about possibly milling some slides.
I'm just starting research on how I can go about this, he said he would need parasolid or step files. I'm sufficient in some 3d modeling, and think making some custom slides would be an interesting project.
Any pointers to get started?
Hello everyone.
I have a PCB board design that I want to import to Solidworks 2018 with copper, *.step does not work for me, so researching I saw that I can get good results exporting as Parasolid. When importing to Solidworks I see that copper is not visible on the surface of the PCB, I have to make the top layer transparent to see copper, but copper is seen of all layers, besides that the silkscreen is not displayed.
Am I doing something wrong when exporting from Altium? Do I have to do some extra configuration in Solidworks?.
I would like to obtain 3D visualization results similar to altium.
Thank you.
We are looking at going from STP to Parasolid due to roughly 10% of the models we use don't seem to be checkable. The only problem is Zeiss wants damn near $5800 per cmm for the license. I almost don't think it's worth it.
Hello everyone...I'm not sure if this is the right place for this.
I need a model of a Mazda RX-8. The file type needs to be importable into Solidworks or Star-CCM+.
I've searched Google high and low. Does anyone have any advice?

Hi all,
I'm trying to work some adjoint optimization into my workflow, and I haven't been able to get the optimized mesh out of Fluent in any usable form. Does anyone have any solutions to this?
Here's what I've tried so far:
file/write-boundary-mesh
A test mesh has zones looking like this:.
Zone sizes on domain 1:
18048 mixed cells, zone 4.
52390 mixed interior faces, zone 1.
2688 quadrilateral wall faces, zone 5.
282 mixed velocity-inlet faces, zone 6.
282 mixed pressure-outlet faces, zone 7.
19630 nodes.
I try to pull this into FEModeler in Workbench 16.0, and it throws this error:
Invalid Fluent mesh format. This mesh cannot be read in FEModeler (in particular, polyhedral elements).
Once I'm in FEModeler I know how to manipulate the mesh to get a parasolid out, but I can't seem to massage the .msh file into something FEModeler will accept as input. All I want are the wall faces on zone 5.
I found the Fluent .msh file format here, and my output mesh looks like this:
(13 (0 1 d95a 0))
(10 (0 1 cb2 0 3))
(13 (5 cca7 d726 3 4)
(
4 3 2 1 0 0
6 4 1 5 0 0
8 6 5 7 0 0
a 8 7 9 0 0
c a 9 b 0 0
e c b d 0 0
10 e d f 0 0...
It has additional zone blocks for 6 and 7 for faces as well as a huge block for the fluid volume.
The face section (13 (5 cca7 d726 3 4) (...
doesn't seem to have well formed coordinates, but I'm not sure how to correct them.
Suggestions? This has been a bear. All I want is a model I can import back into Solidworks and begin to adjust for machinability.
Whatβs the deal with this? It has been years... has anyone heard an updated release date or had any luck generating the parasolid themselves?
I have been tasked with recreating a part in solidworks given a parasolid file. What would be the best way to extract the geometric information I need? Would FeatureWorks be capable?
Is there a CAD program that can work with .x_t files without importing / conversion, then export or save as?
Alternatively, is there a CAD program which utilizes plain text files (such as .x_t) as opposed to proprietary binary files?
EDIT: thus far, I've checked an old version of SW, FreeCAD and a trial version of Solid Edge.
I'm a 3D artist on a technical documentation team. I make detailed renders of electrical/mechanical components. I often hook up to my company's PLM/CAD system and export models to be imported into Maya, which is the 3D program I'm most familiar with.
So, I know enough about NX/Teamcenter to do that. I'm usually exporting as .stl because it imports pretty easily into Maya.
Recently I've received a parasolid file that I've manually imported into NX (usually, I load a part via Teamcenter). All the individual pieces are listed in the Part Navigator in a flat hierarchy, and they're not named (they're listed as body 1,2,3,etc).
So, I need to figure out the most efficient way to sort through, rename, and export the components I need. There are about 2000 different shapes and going through one at a time just isn't really feasible, so I'm open to any ideas.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Hello fellow redditors. So I've got a huge problem on my back. I am a 2nd year Industrial Engineering (doesn't matter) and I made 10 SW projects by far. The problem would be that I used 2022 SolidWorks... and my teacher got the 2021.... And I've got 2021 Solidworks on laptop and it didn't open the files from my pc which is 2022 SW.... cause some future version error... Is there any way to fix this? I don't have the time and energy to re do all project's on a 2021 SW and I am afraid if my teacher can't open the 2022 file he won't let me pass....

Don't you know a good pun is its own reword?
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!

Edit: Thank you guys for the awards, they're much nicer than the cardboard sleeve I've been using and reassures me that my jokes aren't stale
Edit 2: I have already been made aware that Men In Black 3 has told a version of this joke before. If the joke is not new to you, please enjoy any of the single origin puns in the comments
