New York City Schools Chancellor Calls On State To End Specialized High Schools Admissions Test

https://nypost.com/2021/04/29/nyc-schools-chancellor-calls-for-end-to-elite-school-test/

i was hoping things might change with a new chancellor(i know she's only temp). but nope. same shit different toilet.

https://ny.chalkbeat.org/2021/4/29/22409927/few-black-latino-students-admitted-specialized-high-schools-2021

look at this graph. black/latino = 65% of all students, yet only ~40% chose to take the test. you cant blame the tests/process if you dont try...

education is key. educate every person involved in the process; parents/students/teachers. my parents didnt know about them, i didnt prep, i didnt go to an elite high school; actually went to a top 25 worst high school(early 2000s) in nyc lol..

you cant solve these problems by lowering standards.

if you have 2 brothers, one makes 100k, other 60k. do you tell the 100k brother to lower his salary to make the 60k brother feel more fair? no! you put in work to raise the 60k brother as close to 100k as possible...

> In my day, if you couldn’t pass an exam that simply tests your knowledge on a given subjectβ€”you were called stupid. Now you’re called β€˜oppressed.’

a comment which i thought was funny; harsh but true
