Most of us are upset that our phone is stuck on Android 10 and already out of date after just 2 years. So I've been working on creating LineageOS 18.1 (based on Android 11) for the Moto Z4. I've never created a custom ROM for a new device, but I'm slowly learning. I thought this would be a good opportunity for me to pickup some skills while benefiting the community. That being said, I don't want to put in so much time in making it only to find out that no one wants it. That's why I'm creating this poll, so please share your thoughts. Thanks.
I was planning on buying a Pixel when I am eligible for an upgrade next year, but this morning I accidentally dropped my phone and the screen literally shattered. I ended up with a Samsung phone because it was all they had at the store. I'm making this post more so to say thank you to all y'all on this sub. Thanks for all the help and great discussion over the years. I started out with the Moto Z Play and ended up with the Z4. I'm definitely gonna miss the karate chop for flashlight feature and the dope Moto mod speaker.
I bought a new Moto Z4, unlocked to replace my Z2. When I put in my Cricket Sim card, it worked for a bit and then stopped. Said suddenly that it wasn't supported. I called up the local store, and the 1 (800) number and got the same answer. The Moto Z4 is a 3G capable device, and as such, no longer works on ANY carrier whatsoever. It's essentially a brick now.
Is this actually true? Is there another carrier that still supports the Z line of phones? I've heard about Google Fi and all that, but I'm not sure.
Context: my mom dropped her phone yesterday and the screen broke, so I'm trying to set up my phone in advance to have an easier time in case I ever drop my phone.
I've enabled USB debugging and set it to always allow my computer/its RSA key fingerprint, but when my phone is locked it doesn't show up with adb devices etc. After I unlock my phone, it only takes a second or two to show up. So if my screen was broken and I wasn't able to unlock it, I wouldn't be able to use ADB at all. Is there a setting or something that would let it work even if the screen is locked?
I recently transferred to Mint Mobile and know that a family member was also interested in moving from Verizon. Their phone is a moto z4, however, and that isn't compatible with Mint. Why doesn't this android model work?
Hey all, I have an unlocked Moto z4 and today I got a txt from sprint saying that my phone needs to be replaced before 1/1/2022. Is this true? It's a newer phone released in 2019 and I think it supports VoLTE. I'd hate to have to replace it.
I have a refurbished Z4 (insurance claim replacement since my last one shattered), and the charging port on it was getting looser and looser until it wouldn't work at all. I got a Tumi wireless charging Moto Mod and that did the trick for weeks, but today my phone started thinking that it was charging via USB and wouldn't let me charge with the battery pack. I've reset the phone, cleaned the charging port thoroughly, and tried a soft reboot, but the error is still there. How do I get rid of this "phantom USB cable" so I can charge my Z4 again?
I was a HUGE fan of the moto Z Line. I was very disappointed when they stopped the Force models after the Z2. I am keeping my Z4 since I have invested in ALL the mods. Question... Should I jump ship from Motorola to the Samsung S21 Ultra or should I stay loyal to Motorola and get the new Edge? I feel like they have been all over the place with their phone models, and I feel they abandoned me by cancelling the Z line and not giving us the Force model for the Z3 or Z4. Will I miss the moto interface? Help!
So my Moto z4 (XT1980-4) got a software update but the online updates from vzw details it as "The current software update provides the most up to date Android security patches on your device." keep in mind this is now on software version/build number is "QDF30.130-42-5-13" however vzw lists "System Update 13" as Software Version:"QDFS30.130-42-5-10-14" so I don't know if that's relevant but now I'll be watching/listening to any audio source no matter what it is, it will randomly pause (and inconsistently do this btw) that source but if I hit play again it switches the audio output to the speakerphone and not the top speaker on the front of the phone. I have restarted, hard reset and wiped it clean and it still does that. So any suggestions other than to contact Moto Support or vzw?
I've been avoiding getting their stupid new sim chip for several reasons. I bought my phone unlocked from best buy in 2019. Does this mean if I don't give in to their demands I'll no longer have a phone? I was under the impression 4g would work fine. So wouldn't my phone be fine? Who gives a BLEEP! about 5g.

I have tried the RAZR (original) and the Edge 2021, returned both as they did not compare to my Z4. Friday, I am receiving a MOTO Edge+. I am hoping the 3rd time is the charm. Has anyone switched from the Z line to the Edge+? If so, how are you liking it?
Mine and my wife's Moto Z4's (XT1980-3) are getting a cellular network unavailable for voice calls' any time we try to make a call since completing the most recent update (listed as build QPFS30.130-15-11-21 in the phone settings). I have full bars for signal when I start a call, but when the call fails network connection drops. We've run through the troubleshooting we can find up to restarting the phone and resetting wifi, network, and Bluetooth settings. It seems to be happening at home and work (about 20 miles away, and definitely on a different tower), so I don't think it's a localized network issue. I'm also not seeing widely reported issues with the update, but the phone is a few years older and I don't watch the phone forums as much as I used to. I'm looking for any help/suggestions on next steps. I haven't restored the phone OS yet, but am open to it as a final step if that's really what is needed.
Recently fixed the volume buttons and power and when I power up the device the power button works but it boots right into safe mode where then I cannot use any of the volume buttons.

I recently got a refurbished Z4, and so far everything works great! Except one very important thing.
I'm able to register my fingerprints, and the setup recognizes when the fingerprint is in the same place when setting up, but when I use it outside the initial setup, it literally never recognizes the registered finger.
Is this a software issue? Maybe some corrupted hardware storage problem? Is there a trick to make it work?

I can't seem to find a music player that works on my z4 with local music stored to my external sd card. I have tried so many different music players and I have a folder full of 80s songs and if I scroll through the list it will stop playing and give errors and it will randomly have issues playing a song and stop. This is a fresh out the box settings phone fully updated.
The stock launcher has a close all apps but I installed Microsoft launcher and that's missing. I have to swipe away each app. Anyone else have this problem? What launcher do you use? I like the Microsoft launcher but I need the close all apps feature
I have had this bug on my Moto Z4 since i got it where if i tap the screen while changing the volume it visually disappears but remains covering the screen for like 30 seconds after and then appears and fully goes away. It makes my phone genuinely unusable for when its there because it has a massive hitbox that makes the right side of my phone not work and it happens so often. how do i fix this.
My phone overheated in the car for about 30 minutes to the point of being hot to the touch. This was from the car's heat as well as being plugged in and running Google Maps. Since then phone runs noticeably hotter and the battery lasts a shorter amount of time.
Any quick fixes or do I have to replace the battery? If I do have to replace it, I saw a battery and replacement kit for the Z4 on Amazon for $25, would you recommend that or taking it to the Motorola store?
There was a little bit of mud in the headphone jack so I got it out safely and carefully with a safety pin and then rolled up toilet paper with rubbing alcohol to get the rest out. It make no sound when I watch YouTube. If I plug earbuds in, they make sound. When I go to the volume in settings and mess with the ring volume, it plays my ringtone and if I touch my alarm volume, it plays that sound too. Please help
Listed these all earlier this year but they didn't end up selling, life got busy and I didn't get around to relisting them. Had to move on short notice and some unexpected bills came up, so it's time for these to finally go. I noticed today that now me peek display on my Moto Z4 changed. It now has a different clock and battery bar around it also in color and shows battery percentage. I have asked my coworker since he has a Moto Z4 as well and his is the old digital black and white clock. Did I get some kind of update or can I switch it back. been wanting to root lately but i hear Verizon has lock the bootloader or something. is this still true or has it been done before.
None of the cables and bricks I have are working. They all stopped charging this afternoon. Is anyone else having this issue?

My phone recently updated to Android 10, my headphones do not work during calls using phone app. It works properly making calls in WhatsApp, so its not the hardware, and it worked before the patch. I am hoping there is some setting somewhere that is causing some issue... but that seems like a pretty random setting. I have the Google voice assist turned off, some people said that caused issues with calling etc.
I don't have the 3060 Ti anymore, it sold within 5 minutes of posting and is clearly marked as sold. Please stop PMing me about it.

I have a moto z4, phone works but the screen is not working. I have read there are some ways to access the phone on the pc. I can't turn on the debugging mode so when I plug it in nothing happens.
Can someone provide some guidance on even accessing the phone on a pc/monitor??
