Nouveau Monde Selected by Canadian and Quebec Governments as Key Partner for the Electrification of Mining Operations

NMGRF (ASK @ 0.3066) ---> Huge Press Release!

  • Nouveau Monde is proud to have been selected as the first mining partner of the Canadian and Quebec governments as they roll out their electrification strategy.
  • Collaborative endeavor bringing together research and industry leaders to develop electric systems and rapid recharging infrastructure for heavy vehicles adapted to open-pit mining.
  • Leveraging Quebec’s clean and affordable hydropower, Nouveau Monde is set to become the world’s first all-electric open-pit mine to deliver sustainable products to its customers, with a zero-carbon footprint.

MONTREAL, Nov. 02, 2020 -- The Innovative Vehicle Institute (IVI), Propulsion QuΓ©bec and the National Research Council of Canada (NRC), in collaboration with Adria Power Systems, Dana TM4, Fournier et fils, and Nouveau Monde Graphite, have announced the development of a new electric propulsion system with a rapid recharging infrastructure adapted to heavy vehicles in the open-pit mining industry.

This project was made possible in part through the financial participation of Natural Resources Canada's Clean Growth in Natural Resource Sectors Innovation program, the Ministry of Economy and Innovation's Innov-R program (administered by InnovÉÉ), and a financial contribution from the SociΓ©tΓ© du Plan Nord. It marks a major turning point in the electrification of heavy vehicles in North America.

The mining industry is in a full swing transition towards a low environmental impact mode of operation, and its key players are working to phase out diesel vehicles, which are responsible for significant greenhouse gas emissions and generate high operating costs.

Currently, there are no electric-powered heavy-duty trucks on the market that meet the difficult operational and climate needs of open-pit mines. Faced with the industry's new needs, IVI, Propulsion and the NRC brought together select partners to make the first-ever electric heavy-duty vehicle for the mining sector.

To ensure the success of this major project, Fournier et Fils, a recognized operator in the mining sector, will provide the project with a Western Star 6900XD truck with a 40-ton loading capacity, as well as its technical experts, who will assist the electrification experts in converting the truck to accommodate the new components. The motorization aspects will be developed by Dana TM4, a world leader in electric moto

Background:
Laylow, born Jeremy Larroux on March 12, 1993, is an Ivorian-French rapper hailing from Toulouse. Raised in Toulouse and Abidjan, his introduction to hip-hop was through the American stars of the early and mid 2000s, namely G-Unit and Ja Rule.

His musical career began as part of the Toulousian collective Fattoyz, which is nowadays only active as a streetwear brand, and his first mixtape, heavily inspired by American West Coast rap, was a collaboration with fellow Toulousian Sir’Klo, titled Roulette rousse or Russian Roulette, and released in February of 2013. This tape also included Laylow’s first collaboration with MontpelliΓ©r rapper Wit., who would go on to feature on most of Laylow’s solo projects. Later that year, the duo of Laylow and Sir’Klo dropped another tape, a free EP titled 310.

In 2014, Laylow released his first solo works, a trilogy of EPs titled Volume Uno, Volume II Asian Tour, and Volume 3, between March and November of that year. Notably, the name β€œMr. Anderson” appeared for the first time in the production credits of these EPs, being Laylow’s alter ego and production alias. Laylow’s next offering, a 201

2nd hand designer/vintage furniture shopping in Brussels

^(Disclaimer: I know furniture question has been ask quite few times on here, but scrolling through the old posts I was not able to find anything up to date or substantial. So thank you in advance for your patience and not coming for me. LOL)

We want to dedicate this Saturday to some furniture shopping. We are looking into purchasing some 2nd hand preferably designer or vintage furniture and we would like to explore some/find good deals (I know it is possible). We would like to avoid places as e.g. Troc where you can still find something nice, but it is rather rare.

  • I regularly check marketplace.
  • I know there are quite few vintage/antique stores in Marolles Area and generally in city center, but would you recommend some specific ones? The one worth seeing with good price/quality ratio (meaning not crazy overpriced just because it is in popular area).
  • I know there are some markets on Saturdays but was not able to google more about it.
  • Is there any store you would generally send us for this type of shopping? Can be even new (Not Maison du Monde etc. but neither not those super expensive designer stores). You know something in the middle like LULU home interior just not that cause we did not like the selection.

Thanks a lot for your help.

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Sharing my experience writing the DELF B2

On November 4th, 2021, I sat the DELF B2 exam, and passed it by a close margin. I’m sharing here a bit about the resources I used and my experience taking the exam, with the hope of helping others.

Helpful Resources

italki

Simply, italki is a resource that connects speakers of one language with speakers of another. It does this via two services:

Professional Teachers and Community Tutors

Both categories are paid individuals offering standardized language services at different rates. While not usually education professionals, Community Tutors are native speakers of the language who offer invaluable insight at a lower cost. I have taken many lessons with a professional teacher and do not regret the cost.

Community features offer a robust interface for communicating with all other italki users in open forums. This is an option for self-learners who want a partner to practice speaking and listening with but do not want to spend the money on paid lessons.

Duolingo

The main draws of Duolingo are that it is fun and easy to use while not costing a dime for those who do not want to pay. Not only that, the free version is feature-rich and does not leave me wanting more.

I treated Duolingo as my first step into learning the french language to determine if it were an activity I would like to even continue long term. After completing the french tree, it is healthy to check back to ensure you haven’t lost progress or check for any new content.

kwiziq

Why kwiziq? This platform contains graded lessons from A1 to C1. Quizzes are the primary feature of the application. Each quiz is unique and targeted to reinforce concepts over time based on spaced repetition and learner performance. After a learner proves they’re competent in a topic, the algorithm adds new topics while periodically peppering in old questions to reinforce prior learned concepts.

What is the catch? The full service with unlimited quizzes is paid. However, all of the website’s educational content is freely available without signing up. Free users that do sign up get ten free quizzes per month. This means prospective users have access to a graded list of CEFR topics, and the ability for some active practice.

Writing the Exam

Oral Comprehension (30 mins) β€” The candidate listens to two documents of various lengths and responds to a questionnaire containing multiple choice and short answer questions about the information presented in the media.

"Homos, clandestine years" in Le Monde, "I gonna tell you my life as a faggot"

Le Monde, a general French newspaper, is publishing a series of 5 articles describing French gay life from WW2 to the years 1980. I propose a translation of the articles.

  1. "I gonna tell you my life as a faggot:" the testimony of one of the last Frenchmen condemned for homosexuality
  2. Before 1982, the memories of homosexuals taken in paddy wagons

"I gonna tell you my life as a faggot:" the testimony of one of the last Frenchmen condemned for homosexuality

Original article from Ariane Chemin, published on 17 January 2022.

Forty years after the repeal of "homosexuality offense," Le Monde tells, in a series of articles, about a time when gays were treated as outcasts. One of the victims of this repression, Bernard Bousset, remembers his ordeal.

On the door bell button, two letters: "BB." You need to listen closely to Bernard Bousset when he unfolds his "pretty fulfilled" life to understand the very personal mockery that lies in the choice of those two initials. Simple, welcoming, the old bar manager sits back in a sofa of his apartment, situated in Archives street, Paris, just above the gay bar he has been owning since 1996. "When I happen to tell young people that I went on a trial just because I slept, at 23 years old, with a boy who was 18, they stare at me as if I were a dinosaur, he says without a fuss. They tell me: 'This ain't possible, are you 100 years old?'" No, Bernard Bousset is only 80, but he grew up away from Paris, "at a time, when…" He adjusts his round glasses, and passes a hand on his hair: "do you have some time? I gonna tell you my life as a faggot."

He was born at the beginning of the war, at Dax (south-west of France, TN), from a father who was a hotel manager, and from a mother he lost at the age of 12. From her, he keeps in mind her bike, her cork compensated shoes (that material from war times), the uptight hairdressing of the elegant women of her time… She worries about his frailness, spoils and takes care of him. "She thought I looked a bit pale, I remember she used to pink my cheeks before going to the cinema." Grief of his mother. Infinite sorrow.

His father travels too much to properly take care of him and of his older brother, who just e

The 2022 TE Class; an All-Time High for Positional Volatility

When looking at the positional draft value placed on the tight ends in recent draft history, it may resemble a healthy cardiogram or, even better, a fluctuating and highly active volatility index measuring the modern economy. In the past decade, we have seen a range of the 4th overall to 55th overall pick being used to select the first TE in the class, with a total of 3 being selected with top 10 picks and 4 sliding all the way into the second round. The classes have varied in both star power and depth, but the roles certain prospects can fill have placed a very unique value on certain players deemed worthy enough to be selected. In the modern era, finding a do-it-all tight end is like trying to find a needle in a haystack…if you don’t take your shot when you can, then you may never get another opportunity. Just last year, we saw the highest drafted Tight End ever, Kyle Pitts, get picked a selection ahead of the generational WR talent Ja’Marr Chase; the TE role is clearly becoming more valuable and advantageous than ever.

https://preview.redd.it/dwa7ohuu14781.png?width=2997&format=png&auto=webp&s=edeffb19e07cd3291158b981565fc8491eb620e3

Having an elite tight end does so much more than just adding another strong-handed target to your QB’s arsenal. Having a do-it-all Tight End is not only a matchup nightmare, but is an extra element to a high functioning offense. It opens up your offense while adding to your run game, something that cannot be overlooked in the direction that the NFL is headed. It’s no coincidence that the previous 6 Super Bowls have featured Greg Olsen, Rob Gronkowski (3 times), Travis Kelce (twice), Zach Ertz and George Kittle. The even more astonishing fact is that just one of the listed above, likely Hall of Fame TEs, was drafted in the first round (Olsen, 31st overall in 2007). A major reason why TE is one of the hardest positions to come by is because it is the hardest position to find and identify in the draft. Not only do Kyle Pitts type prospects only come around once in a generation, but George Kittle type prospects can be found lurking in the mid rounds more often than not. So, this being said, how does the 2022 class stack up and are there any diamonds in the rough?

Rick Spielman's handling of the backup QB spot this year deserves some criticism.

Rick Spielman took a shot at a project QB in the third round by taking Kellen Mond. I don't follow college football enough to have a strong opinion on Mond as a prospect one way or the other, but I fully support the strategy of trying to get a guy you think can be, at worst, a cheap backup over the next few years, but who can maybe provide you options at the position a year or two down the road.

I was listening to the latest norsecode podcast and Arif spends some time talking about the backup QB situation. He describes Mond as being "catastrophically bad" at QB in all of the performances he saw between camp and preseason, and I think this was a sentiment shared by most people who reported from camp (and certainly the impression I got watching Mond in the preseason). So obviously the scouts and front office staff overestimated Mond's floor if they were expecting him to be, bare minimum, a backup this year.

Jake Browning was a clearly better QB in camp, but absolutely and completely fell apart immediately in the preseason. Rick sees that performance, but doesn't do anything. He just lets the rest of the preseason shake out, and then as soon as Sean Mannion is available, goes out and grabs him.

On some level Mannion makes sense, he's the devil we know and when you're grabbing a QB at the 11th hour that might be better than trying to get someone who's more of a question mark even if you know Mannion isn't really even backup caliber. But we went into the draft with only Kirk and a couple of undrafted camp arms on our roster, and then took a swing at a very, very raw prospect in the draft. At some level, that kind of mismanagement has to fall on Spielman. He hitched his wagon to Mond as the 2021 backup, and it blew up in his face week 17 against the Packers.

I think it's something Spielman has done a lot in his career as GM, he has a tendency to overvalue his own picks/evaluation, and never wants to bring in cheap competition for players that he's selected, particularly if he he spent a lot on them (either in free agency or in the draft). He doesn't want his guy to risk having his guy get beat out by some other team's trash, so he pretends like there's no way his guy can possible fail. Especially when it comes to free agency, where there's always guys who have some starting experience available for dirt cheap would at least provide a floor in case the late round p

Sharing my experience preparing for and writing the DELF B2

Oral Comprehension (30 mins) β€” The candidate listens to two documents of various lengths and responds to a questionnaire containing multiple choice and short answer questions about the information presented in the
