A list of puns related to "Matrix Management"
Current Company: Retaining by providing demands + 110% hike + Promotion with the same challenges
Although the boss who hired me has moved to a different company (Offer #2 below) and my colleagues from different verticals have left the company. The project I am working in, is not moving forward.
Offer #1: Startup but Financial Flexibility + Work Related Travel + Offering 100% hike
Offer #2: Crypto Startup with lesser hike + Learning Opportunities + Old Boss Calling being a Board Member + Offering 60% hike
Offer #3: One of the Major Global Banks but movement to a different city + Offering 100% hike
Offers #1 and #3 will help me clear out my loans much quickly than #2. However #2 is a billion dollar unicorn where I have to implement a system and processes from scratch.
Offer #1 (Startup) is a bit risky considering it is new and working with a BNPL Giant. However, if the company and the client break their relationship or whenever the contract ends, the future would look a bit bleak.
Pros: Pay, Location, Travel
Cons: Instability, Third Party Services
Offer #2 ( Crypto Startup) has a massive learning opportunity. Money is no factor, although growth is. The company just acquired a unicorn status and is backed by Eduardo Saverin. The workforce is young. It's a big challenge as I would be shifting from a distributed tech to a decentralized tech.
Pros: Learning, Location, Work Culture
Cons: Instability, Compensation
Offer #3 (Major Global Bank) - I have to commit and commit quick. Although the HR just confirmed me there is no work related travel at all. This provides Job Security and Stability in the future.
Pros: Stability, Pay
Cons: Location, No Travel
Work life balance is compromised almost everywhere but it is all about the time management skills.
This process of dividing and managing time between different activities has 4 important elements according to the time management matrix. The 4 D's as we call them, are Do, Decide, Delete and Delegate.
According to the urgency and importance of the task, this prioritisation framework helps you decide when and what to do with the task.
β‘οΈImportant and highly urgent tasks need immediate attention (Do)
β‘οΈImportant but not urgent tasks can be dealt with later. (Decide)
β‘οΈNot important and not urgent tasks can be cast aside after consideration. (Delete)
β‘οΈNot important but urgent tasks can be delegated to other people. (Delegate)
β This matrix is highly beneficial in providing an objective approach to your tasks and helps in prioritisation.
Use this technique and see if it works!
How could we prioritize our tasks in the calendar in a more intuitive way?
This problem has been bothering me for a long time. We all tackle many tasks during our day, and sometimes it's quite hard to figure out what our priorities should be.
The solution I have in mind would merge the calendar with a proven prioritization framework, the Eisenhower Matrix (important/urgent matrix) in my case.
By visually representing the relative importance between each quadrant and tasks inside them you can better identify what truly deserves your attention and what's not.
To put all this into the perspective of daily planning, we just have to distribute tasks within our day.
By moving tasks along the vertical or horizontal axis, we can both weigh the importance of tasks and schedule when we want to deal with them. And the duration of tasks could be adjusted simply by rescaling the task.
Please see a demo video of how this would look like in action on this link :

What do you think about this solution? How do you currently prioritize your tasks?
I work as a consultant for safetystuff. The exact work isn't too important to the story, but what is important is that I'm not an employee of BigCorp, they hire me as a consultant to the yearly update of their safety system and emergency plans. Normally, someone hires a consultant, they do their thing and send the bill. That gets paid just like a bill for, say, delivering a stack of bricks.
BigCorp, however, decided to implement some new businessspeakbuzzwords, and any externals (read: me) who get hired need to get their hours approved in their "Matrix Management structure". Now, for the majority of you who haven't graduated in buzzwordology, Matrix Management means that each project has a manager, and each function has a manager. So if you spend an hour sweeping up in the park, your two bosses are the Function Manager of Sweeping, and the Project Manager of Parks.
of course, not being an employee of BigCorp, nobody had told me this. My bill got rejected, and that meant I had to angry-call their administration, and tried desperately to explain that I didn't do any project work, that this probably falls into whatever category they have for overhead. No deal, but they helpfully set me up with a consultant account, and I proceeded to jump through a few hoops to get it paid. Naturally, that annoyed me, severely, since all that time is pretty much money down the drain.
So, like a mature and responsible adult, I decided that if I couldn't be happy, none of them could be happy either. After spending several hours getting things set up, it's time to see who needs to approve my hours.
Compliance:
Well, technically, the safety plans apply to all projects, so I'd best select every single project manager. Oh, and I guess they also apply to all functions, but I should be fair, since I didn't spend equal time on every function. After all, the risks to someone working in the workshop are much higher than the admin staff, so I'd best split up my hours as fair as I can.
Oh, it seems that by splitting my hours among functions, I now have to select every single project, for every single function. I'd best email their admin again to confirm if I should really enter a bill that needs to be approved 108 separate times. I quickly receive the reply:
"ALL billable hours MUST be approved by ALL relevant management-pairs".
So, I submit 108 separate approvals, for 2 hours of actual billable work, with the email quoted in the description of each request. Thankfully, I only had
... keep reading on reddit β‘Once upon a time, there was a non-conforming sparrow who decided not to fly south for the winter.
However, soon the weather turned so cold that he reluctantly started to fly south. In a short time ice began to form on his wings and he fell to earth in a barnyard, almost frozen. A cow passed by and crapped on the little sparrow. The sparrow thought it was the end. But, the manure warmed him and defrosted his wings. Warm and happy, able to breathe, he started to sing. Just then a large cat came by and hearing the chirping, investigated the sounds.
The cat cleared away the manure, found the chirping sparrow and promptly ate him.
There's a moral to this story...as there always is with these type of stories:
Hey there!
I'm new to the Element/Matrix world and in the process of trying to build a workspace for a business on a secure messaging app.
Does anyone have any guidance / suggestions about how an Agile collaborative tool like Astana, that is compatible with Element/Matrix-based communications, and perhaps can have added features one gets with Microsoft Teams, i.e. Video Calls / File Hosting / Calendar & To-Do Lists?
Trying to see what the most secure / open source / & cheapest combination of the online working is to replace potentially building teams on Zoom / Slack / Google Drive / Discord / Microsoft 365 / Facebook / WhatsApp / Monday.com / Trello / etc.
Thanks in advance!
Sunniva makes this announcement as an update to the press release dated May 14, 2020 in respect of the Action commenced by Matrix Venture Capital Management, seeking a bankruptcy order against Sunniva, under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act.
Matrix and Sunniva have agreed to adjourn any hearing of the Action generally for a period of no less than 60 days, such that Matrix cannot schedule any hearing of the Action until September 26, 2020. In connection with this adjournment of the Action, Sunniva has acknowledged that a promissory note issued by Sunniva to Matrix on October 11, 2019 in the principal amount of $6,000,000 will become due and payable as of September 16,2020
I wouldn't say this movie was a great follow up, but it had many of the same themes and concepts as the DT and executed them in ways that werenβt outright offensive.
Post Finale World State
DT: The NR is trash, doubly so when incorporating the novels, and supposedly almost everyone has lost hope for the future. Zero vestiges of the former Empire have any significance or explanation other than crashed ships. Operation Cinder happened.
MR: Io is somewhat stagnant, but we are shown it has qualities that are better than Zion such as peaceful coexistence with sentients/machines and advances in agriculture. Humans arenβt immediately wiped out by machines due to an explanation that machines had to deal with factional infighting β just as the Imperial Remnants in Legends did.
Treatment of Legacy Characters
DT: Every character arc is undone. Luke has to become a suicidal hermit to not βovershadowβ the new characters. Leaders are made incompetent in order to drive the NR into the ground.
MR: Give Neo and Trinity a unique set of problems to overcome and they are sidelined a bit to let the new protagonists drive the plot, but then are brought back to take over as theyβre meant to. Morpheus is remembered fondly. Niobe has realistic reactions to insubordination instead of just slapping Poe.
General Concepts
Bugs is an active protagonist with an actual goal, as opposed to Rey being entirely passive. Bugs has to retrieve Neo just as Rey had to with Luke but with less shitty results.
Morpheus 2.0 and other machine traitors have a better realization than Finn. Theyβre here to coexist with humans and thwart evil plots, instead of suddenly looking to murder their former kin.
Dialogue is generally in line with the tone we expect, instead of becoming Marvelized.
Most callbacks are meant to complement the story, instead of just being member berries.
It's surprisingly how such a flawed movie still worked better than the DT.
I NEED your unbridled rage so I can get some sliver of enjoyment out of this abomination. I honestly thought I downloaded a fake version of this movie until I saw Keanu on screen....
Hi all. I'm looking to gather some helpful hints and tips about how I can build respect and remain firm to the sponsors objectives when I have no structural authority, the whole organisation has been going through constant change for years and the specific service area I'm working with have 'seen it all before' and do not buy in to their bosses objectives / ambitions. My project impacts on the whole organisation. Thanks in advance.
Obviously as a new technology with emerging adoption a lot of rooms are up for grabs by early adopters. It appears as though this is being taken advantage of in bad faith by people who seek to exert control over others.
The most egregious example that I have yet found is @/MilkManzJourDaddy:matrix.org , who apparently has quite a bit of interest: (S)He Moderates "Books", A Qubes, Fdriod, Cybersecurity, Hubzilla Unofficial , Alt' Pneumatic Air Power, Consumer Advocacy, TrueOS, The Metric System , Tesla Turbine - Info' & Development, Lounge , GNU IceCat (mobile Browser) , AsteroidOS - Foss OS For Smart Watches , Religion , Mesh Networking , VoIP Alone , with alone and versus Matrix , English Language General Usage, MGTOW , Replicant', Open Source Hardware, PFSense, Copperhead OS, Jami , SexED, Mastodon and no doubt countless others.
This user has a strong ALT-Right sympathy and bias and will aggressively ban across his collection of networks if triggered. Full Disclosure: I was just banned across his network of rooms.
Ultimately, I am okay with this, I am not concerned about his right to create a network of rooms to inappropriately and arbitrarily wield power to try to enforce an alt-right friendly/safe space , but obviously I don't want to be apart of it, and I want people to be aware when they join rooms of this "trap".
I passively mass joined a brunch of rooms according to my interests, and the vast majority are solely moderated by this user, and I was unaware of this upon joining, and found out when my account was banned from more than half of the channels I subscribed to but never commented in.
Users should also be aware, that this user changes the names of channels after you join, and you should review the channels you are in if you are concerned that you may inadvertently be in a MGTOW channel (which I was!) without having joined a MGTOW channel. Another context changing name was the change from "Politics" to " ATTP - ALL The Patriotic Politics". Obviously, this user has some ambitions at legitimizing his ideas by changing the name of rooms after masses passively join and idle.
Further reference to this behavior can be found here: https://old.reddit.com/r/Meshnet/comments/9fp2fu/are_riotim_federated_networks_considered_to_be/
Obviously, if you don't support this create your own channels. I'll Join.
Sunniva has become aware that it has been named in an action commenced by Matrix Venture Capital Management whereby Matrix has filed a Notice of Motion with the Supreme Court of British Columbia seeking a Bankruptcy Order under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act in respect to the property of Sunniva in connection with a promissory note issued by Sunniva to Matrix on October 11, 2019 in the amount of USD $6,000,000.
The Notice of Motion was filed on May 6, 2020 and served on the Company on May 13,2020. A hearing for the Action has been scheduled for June 1, 2020. The Company intends to defend the Action.
The Company has been reviewing potential strategic and restructuring alternatives and will continue to evaluate its options in the context of the Action.
Not much to this announcement: There will not be a hearing on June 1, 2020 as previously reported. Sunniva will provide a further update in respect of the Action in due course.
One could interpret just a reschedule or that it has gone away I suppose.
