A list of puns related to "Marrow Vegetable"
My friend's grandparents have a surplus of marrow from their garden and I will be cooking for them when they bring my friend back to our flat. I need to plan a good dish to impress them, so was thinking ratatouille, but I want to use the vegetables they bring from their garden. I'm finding way too many stuffed marrow recipes, which seem too easy and boring, so would like to know if I can swap out courgette/zucchini for marrow (the more mature version of the plant) in ratatouille?
Any truth to this or is it an antiquated scientific theory on diet?
I have some courgettes/zucchini and I was wondering how tell to tell if the seeds are mature enough for planting, as the fruit inside is quite white and the seeds arent easy to define (unlike pumpkin seeds which standout), so should I leave a zucchi vegetable somewhere for a few days for the seeds to mature inside the vegetable?
Ok, so I was at a grocery store tonight and saw that they had an awesome butcher shop with all sorts of odd cuts of meat that I have been meaning to try -- among the things I loaded up on were oxtail and marrow bones. So, I made this giant stew -- and it has been sitting on the stove all night. I just tried it and it is awesome! However, it is now 1:30am, and I can't eat this whole pot.
So, when the big dutch oven cools down a bit more, should I just move this whole thing to the fridge? Should I move it into a different container? Will it still be as good a day later after it has been in the fridge and reheated?
The time has come again to gather pine boughs and light the candles of red and silver, gold and green. The cool breezes and smoke-and-loam scented air of autumn is giving way to the frigid winds and pale sun of winter.Β Β Snow, ice, and sleet dominate the days, and a gently gray haze sifts over the treetops, filtering the sun and soaking into clothing and bones, settling the long cold ahead into our very marrow.Β Β The harvests have been stored, the animals brought in from the field, the fields themselves turned for the seasons, the scrapped remnants of crops burned and turned with the soil to provide nutrients for the following year.Β Β The old folks settle into warm rooms with the youngsters, trading stories and traditions as they rub sore joints and comfort little runny noses.Β Β Candlelight, hearth fires, and warm ovens abound as the natural light of the sun fades and the days grow short.Β Β Lights, warmth, and love are shared at this time to fend off the sadness and loss of the sun, to ward off the reminders of death and age that abound in the winter, and to celebrate the light and life that will come again in the spring.Β Β It is a time of rest, introspection, story-telling, hobby building, warmth, and love.
Post your lore, your traditions, what Yule means to you, recipes, plans; go nuts ya filthy animals!
Yule:
What It Is: Pronounced YOOL, this holiday is the winter solstice and longest night of the year.Β Celebrated in late December in the northern hemisphere and late June in the southern hemisphere, it's the official heralding of winter in the farming calendar and midwinter to pagans and laypeople everywhere.
The Wiccan community sees this time as when the God is reborn after dying at the harvest.Β Other pagan traditions view it as the rebirth of the sun or the astronomical turning point from the dark half of the year to the light half at Litha. Days afterwards will begin to lengthen, though it may not be noticeable until Imbolc.Β The Holly and the Oak kings battle, and Holly lays down his crown so Oak can pick up his until Litha comes and they battle again.
Festivals and holidays are common in places where the axial tilt of the planet effects the seasons, and the further towards the poles you go, the more important they seem to be.Β Maybe this is due to the fact that the further to the poles you go, the cold is harsher and the sunlight sparse, and humans don't do well without some vitamin D e

God willing I'll never have to go back, so I figured it was safe enough to tell some of the stories from my time there. This story is from just a week or two after we moved in.
Our house sat on a pretty steep incline. In the back there was room for a concrete patio and a little space for a vegetable garden. Past that, the ground sloped steeply up into very thick woods that were full of oak, birch and pine trees. The woods were pretty wild, but there was an obvious path that led straight off from our property into the thicket. It ignited my stepsister's curiosity as soon as she saw it.
She was a few years younger than me. I think she was about twelve when we moved in and I would have been fourteen or fifteen. Rita, my stepsister, was on me from the second we moved in to go into the woods with her. I used to go hiking with my dad before he started dating my stepmom, so to her that made me an expert on nature. But, the thickness of the underbrush in the woods behind the house really put me off.
Eventually, I gave in to Rita's constant wheedling and agreed to explore the woods behind the house. I talked Rita into putting on long pants to protect from brambles and we set out into the woods.
The incline was really steep and only got steeper the further we went in. The weeds and brambles along the forest floor were thick and cloying, clinging to our pants legs and pricking at our skin even through our jeans. The path we were following was narrow and roamed left to right seeking the easiest way past trees and bushes. It was probably a path used by deer and foxes and we struggled to follow it.
I remember Rita saying, "This is so cool! It's a for real forest right behind our house!" and trying not to scoff where she could hear or see it. I already felt like I was too old to play around in the woods. Those thoughts aside, I thought it was unwelcoming and king of creepy. Definitely not the kind of place I would have wanted to play even when I was her age.
It was quiet in the woods. As we stepped deeper and higher, the incline just kept going up and and up. We didn't hear any bird sounds insects. It seemed like the only sound was what our feet made as they pushed through the underbrush and what the wind made as it blew hot sticky summer air against our backs.
After a few minutes of hard going, the incline started to e

However, as more and more evidence is leading to autoimmune disease in long covid I digged deep to find a solution and landed on this video from Dr. Berg on autoimmune:

I started to include bovine/ovine organ supplements into my diet which I take 3 times per day. Especially Ovine Thymus extract. Plus I switched to mainly a carnivore diet with low histamine vegetables/fruits next to the organ supplements and it seems to help. Less fatigue, brain fog, joint pain, muscle pain, better skin, less hair loss and tinnitus.
For lunch I take a meat vegetable soup with bone marrow in it. And in the evening some good piece of cow meat.

Note: wouldn't go for raw meat as it adds risks but the article is interesting.
Avoid grains, gluten, wheat, sugar, alcohol and dairy products. Did you know that most grains are only eaten/cultivated since the last 500 years and that our body is not used to it? It can even cause leaky gut and increase autoimmune problems.
Organ meat can give us the building blocks to restore our organs and immune system. Like for like as they call it.
If a mad cow/BSE going bad prion (misfolded protein) can replicate in a person and make him/her sick. We can easily assume that there are good proteins who do the opposite and make people healthy.
Hope it helps you all as well.
This post is inspired by another one on this sub last week, where this list from the totally unbiased source Dairy MAX was posted along with the claim that any vegan who uses products on this list is a hypocrite as no alternatives for animal by-products in these products exist and that we will always be reliant on animals for these products. So, here is my investigation into animal-free alternatives for every product on this list.
Generally, these products were less "these products simply cannot be made without animals" and more "well, sometimes they contain the chemical that might be animal-derived, but it's really hard to know."
(Disclaimer: Obviously veganism is concerned with doing "as much as is possible and practicable" to avoid contribution to animal exploitation, so even if you can't guarantee that your life hasn't involved any products made with animal by-products in a society where such (by-)products are ubiquitous, this would not invalidate being vegan. This is especially true where medications are concerned. As I see it from an ethical view, the main goal should be the ending of the industries that are the main source of animal suffering, then we can tackle the issue of minute by-product use in other products. Especially since if a decline/end in consumption of the animal non-by-products would force companies to do research into alternatives to them, since it is not economically feasible to raise cattle just for the collagen/gelatin/etc.)
Candles: Most candles nowadays are made from paraffin wax, beeswax (the main non-vegan option), or plant waxes like soy, palm, or carnauba. Tallow used to be used, but not any more. See also VeganFriendly.
Cellophane: "Cellophaneβ’ is a polymeric cellulose film made from the cellulose from wood, cotton, hemp, or other sources." (source). The more general plastic wrap is made, unsurprisingly, from plastics like PVC. None of the pages I saw when Googling this one mentioned animal fats.
Ceramics: Obviously bone china isn't vegan as it contains bo

They suspect I may have neurological and other autoimmune issues going on, but none is confirmed yet. I also have scoliosis and dysautomia. I also likely struggle with a sleep disorder.
On a daily basis, I experience a typical 7/10 pain in my upper back and in my dominant hand from arthritis. It is usually centralized to those two areas. I do occasionally feel stiff in other spots or 4/10 pain but itβs not too bad outside of my βbadβ spots.
Current situation:
In the past two weeks, I have experienced this horrible wide-spread pain that gets a lot worse at night and makes me physically exhausted. I havenβt gotten out of bed to walk around much since this started happening. A few days into this mystery illness, I contacted my rheumatologist because I thought it might be an arthritis flare. She said that it really doesnβt sound like an arthritis flare but that sheβs not sure what it could be. Perhaps fibromyalgia is what she said. She said that is is very unusual sounding and strange.
I then had an appt with my primary care doctor who was actually out of the office, so I met with his partner at the clinic who is also a doctor, but is overall known as a stubborn and old school doctor. I have not met him up until this appt.
He was initially worried that my pain is from βvegetative depression and anxietyβ which is ridiculous. Lol then he said he is worried that my treatments for rheumatoid arthritis (methotrexate and Hydroxychloroquine) were perhaps damaging my bone marrow or causing other issues. Lab results showed an elevated white blood cell count, and an increase in a/g, bilirubin, and chloride that was noticeably higher than my tests from last month. A/g was only 0.1 off from being in βbad levelsβ.
He said today my labs seem fine and he again has no idea whatβs wrong with me.
Currently symptoms are as presented:
-overall 9/10 pain at its worst
-horrible inner knee pain that radiates up into my thigh bone area and occasionally in between my tibia and fibula. My knee aches horribly at night and hurts when I walk, lay, sit, or apply pressure. Is tender inside of the joint/bone area.
-when walking, especially at night when it gets worse, it feels like I am waking on glass/my foot bones with only thin muscle separation from the ground. It feels like I have spent all day hiking or walking at Disney

As Allan made his way back to the shuttle, he wondered if he had done the right thing. He shook his head, being careful not to jolt Aly, that was a struggle that he could leave to another time. βI just hope that she got from it what she needed.β Allan thought to himself, He knew that it was not going to be easy for her to confront the deaths of people around her, just because she looked different, but at least she now knew that she was not the source of the destruction, merely its focus.
These thoughts and many more like it rushed through his head as he rode the shuttle through the atmosphere, and it docked with the shuttle station in orbit. When he stepped out onto the platform, it was silent, playing on every screen was a proclamation from the βruling council and its subsidiary organizations.β Thanks to the translator Allan knew it to be the truth that he had told the council members to release, they surprised him and named himself and Aly as the ones that had brought this about, and whoever the representative on-screen was, they also admitted that there had been a shadow faction within the government killing those who they found to be problematic.
Allan snorted, He really did hope that they could change, they could become better, but he also doubted that. The Edict was playing on a loop, and when he finally got through the shuttle station to the ship, Aly was stirring. He hurried her inside. She finally woke to the last sounds of the food extruding machine making

Also, vegetable stock is just not fancy tea. If other stocks have marrow and fat run off then how is vegetable stock, stock? It's just tea not made from plants that make good tea.
So either chicken stock is carcass tea, or vegetable stock doesn't actually exist.
Plant fats aren't typically present in the ingredients of vegetable stock, I get oils are a gray area.
Iβm a 23 year old AA/Creole female and for the past year and a half Iβve been having symptoms of extreme fatigue, muscle weakness, pallor, hair loss, numbness in my hands and feet, lips and hands turning blue, extreme cold intolerance, night sweats, pain and swelling in my abdomen, bone pain, dizziness, heart palpitations while at rest, migraines, and loss of appetite. Iβm 5β4 and 155 pounds. Majority of adulthood Iβve always been around 170 but after guaranteed i gained weight and was 196 so in the past year and a half Iβve lost a total of 41 pounds. And am still losing weight weekly. When i went to the doctor about my symptoms they tested my iron, folate, and b12 for anemia. My iron was very low, but my folate and b12 were within the normal ranges. So they gave me iron infusions in March to fix that and told me my symptoms should go away within 3 months. But they only got worse including me having moments of losing eyesight in my right eye, numbness in my right side, and having to go to the hospital for extreme chest pain. They tested for lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, signs of heart disease or blood clots, did a bone marrow biopsy and everything was negative. I was told the severity of my symptoms donβt match my blood work. Which in recent blood work Iβm no longer iron deficient but my b12 did increase from 753 to 1597pg/mL which i do not supplement and i donβt take preworkouts. My bilirubin has also been high for the last 3 months which i was told isnt an issue. My wbc and neutrophil count were both low as well, but did rise in my most recent blood work i got done while getting tested for strep. I rarely ever get sick and have never had strep in my life which now Iβm sick almost every other week. My cholesterol has also increased into the unhealthy range of 212 while my triglycerides are still normal at 49 even though Iβve been losing weight. Iβve removed red meat out my diet.
