Hi everyone hope you're doing well and staying safe happy New Year and hope you all enjoyed the Christmas and New Year celebrations. I'm currently using Discord on macOS Big Sur with limited success and I have a few questions. Firstly are there specific keyboard shortcuts to take me to different areas of the app for example direct messages and my unread mentions. Secondly is there anyway to have incoming messages read out via text to speech I don't think this functionality is available natively in Discord and the growl notification system has now been discontinued is there any way to do this?

We've got a handful of laptops that still need to get upgraded to Big Sur, but the catch is that (1) all these users don't have admin rights and (2) none of the machines are in DEP (they're too old).

Is there a way to push Big Sur to these machines silently in Workspace One. I know that we used be be able to push the Big Sur installer but admin rights are required for the full install.

Another wrinkle is that Monterey is out and getting Big Sur to deploy is tricky since it's not available in the App Store anymore. Monterey doesn't work with several of our security products yet. And there's currently no ETA on when they will. :(

Any help and/or advise is welcome.

Hello there!

I recently decided to re-install OpenCore since I had an old installation of Big Sur and wanted to enjoy installing OpenCore again.

I configured everything, however, it seems my RTL8111 kext seems to not be working in macOS Monetary or Big Sur, no matter which version of the kext I try. (This kext worked in my previous install BTW)

Can someone help me with the connection issue? And if it can't be resolved, can someone guide me on how to download a full image with macrecovery.py?

UPDATE: I've been troubleshooting for days, and eventually came to the conclusion that, for some reason, macOS doesn't recognize my dock anymore and I have to use a new one. Luckily, I had one on hand that worked perfectly that worked in Catalina.

Hi all,

I've got an issue with my setup that just started when I moved to Big Sur last week from Catalina. Everything was working fine before. To set the context, here is a description of the relevant parts of my USB setup described as a tree (items in lower tiers are plugged into the corresponding higher tier). I've got a 2019 Macbook Pro connected the a CalDigit hub that everything else runs out of.

• CalDigit TS3 plus
  • Arturia Keylab 88 mk2
  • Korg Minilogue XD
  • J5 create USB hub
    • Presonus Faderport mk2

(Note that I have a lot more plugged into the CalDigit I'm not mentioning that doesn't seem to be involved in the issue.)

As mentioned, this all worked fine in Catalina. In Big Sur, I seem to get a conflict if I plug either the Korg or the Faderport into the J5 hub. If I plug everything into the CalDigit, it works, but I don't have enough ports for that to be convenient. If either the Korg or the Faderport goes into the hub, I don't get functionality out of either of those two devices and I can see whatever is plugged into the hub flickering on and off in the Audio MIDI setup window - the connection doesn't seem consistent. If Logic is open, I get continual notifications about the number of MIDI IOs changing.

This sounds like an issue with the J5 hub, but other non-midi devices (my iLok, external USB drives) work fine on the hub. Only USB MIDI devices have an issue on the hub. What's weirder is that this didn't start right away when I upgraded to Big Sur - it worked for a day or two, then the current issue started. So I don't know 100% that it's tied to the OS change

Does anybody have any troubleshooting ideas? Thanks!

I have this problem all the time with my Bluetooth since I bought my Mac 3 years ago.

The Bluetooth works for some time and then freezes, and I oblige to restart my mac otherwise it does not recover by itself I tried all the manipulation with the terminal or delete the file in finder or reset the module ... nothing to do

I downloaded Enhanced Edition on GOG but found out that it wasn’t supported on my Mac, was a bit late for that

basically title. Crashes without warning. Seems like it happens when there’s too much stuff loaded on the app after scrolling for a bit, (~20mins use) but sometimes it happens within 5mins of use (e.g. when scrolling through vid). Like a half-second lag, then the app exits with option to report and reopen. Never really had this happen on iOS, iPadOS or even on my old MacBook Air. Would reporting help?

i know this is probably lower on the priority pole (after all it is first and foremost an iOS app I guess) but it’s odd because it worked just fine on my old MacBook Air. Hoping for a fix soon, love the app; it’s made scrolling on the web version unbearable haha.

App version: 1.12 OS: macOS Monterrey 12.0.1 -> updated to 12.1, still same issue M1 Pro (10-core cpu) 16 in mbp Reproducibility: random, seems like a memory overload but idk much about computing. It’s pretty spotty, and I think chances go up of crashing the more I load by scrolling. BUT it’s happened at least 10 times since yesterday when I began using the app on this device.

In spite of the fact the StreamCam is advertised as having an auto-rotate feature described here where you rotate the camera 90 degrees and it shifts from landscape to portrait, it doesn't work properly in MacOS Big Sur or Monterey. The StreamCam does NOT change it's recording orientation when I rotate the camera (with logo on bottom) and is instead stuck permanently in landscape mode.

In my testing on an Intel MacBook running:

• MacOS Big Sur, the auto rotation feature worked in Logi Capture, but NOT in G Hub or LogiTune.
• MacOS Monterey, the auto-rotation feature does not work on any of these three Logitech apps.

In my initial contact with Logitech, they've suggested my StreamCam was faulty, but I've tried this with multiple StreamCams, and have the exact same issue, so this seems to be a firmware or software compatibility issue specific to MacOS versions Big Sur and beyond.

Same as the title. Has anyone's crown stopped working this week? If I press and hold the crown, the little white box with "brightness" in it stays on the screen and nothing related the the crown works.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled options, Un Paired and Repaired the keyboard, nothing seems to make it work.

When I touch the crown, the keyboard does light up.

Logitech options version: 9.40.75

Also updated keyboard firmware to: 07.01.0021

macOS permissions are enabled for input monitoring, automation for the daemon and options applications.

I have printer which is perfectly working from my old macBook with Catalina 10.15.7, installing was pretty easy - all drivers were installed automatically.

Now I'm desperately trying to set up it on 11.3.1, but can't, there are no appropriate drivers in suggested list. Any ideas? Thank you.

Hey guys, I tried to set up Time Machine on a USB drive about a month ago but then realized that 64GB would not be enough to back up my computer. Today I plugged my USB back into my laptop to put files on it like normal, but now it is formatted as a Time Machine drive and I cannot put any files on it, even though there aren't any backups on it either. Any idea how to disable this so I can use my USB drive like normal for file transferring? Thanks!

Recently made a MacOS Big Sur VM, and I'm looking for advice on what to do for passing through a gpu to get better performance even on a web browser. In particular, I'm more looking for advice on a gpu to get. I'd rather not spend a whole lot and I'm not really expecting to game. I also want to get something that can be purely powered by a pcie slot so I don't need to buy another power supply as I already have a dedicated gpu. I would say $50 (maybe $75) is more or less the price I am willing to pay at most so I was thinking on a GT 710.

Current specs:

R3 3300X - 2c/4t allocated to VM (default setting)

16GB of RAM - 8GB allocated to VM

GTX 960 4GB graphics card

550W power supply
