The camera is facing an empty doorway in the Watts home. SW appears in front of the camera and shows the audience her shirt. "Oops, we did it again" it reads on the front. She steps back out of the camera's view and Dieter is spotted running through the room and he gives a short bark.
CW appears on camera. Dressed in work clothes, he stops when he sees his wife standing behind the camera, on it's tripod. "Oops, we did it again. I like that shirt." he says with a forced laugh. He walks toward his wife and out of the camera's frame. He can be heard asking, "Really?" SW confirms it and CW replies with a generic "That's awesome." He comes back into view holding a pregnancy test. "So pink mean...?" He jokes. CW is always very uncomfortable on camera. He is trying to fill the silence in the room. But, it goes over SWs head. "That's just the test" his wife replies curtly. "I'm just...pink is gonna be girls." Her husband continues to tease. SW says again, "I don't know. Just a test." So much for SWs big pregnancy reveal video. I imagine that CW felt immense pressure in this moment. SW would claim over and over that this baby was her husband's idea but we know for certain that the only decision maker at 2825 Saratoga Trail, was Shan'ann Watts.
CW leans in for the obligatory kiss. He says almost under his breath, "I guess when you want to it happens." He whispers, "Wow."
Why would SW post this awkward video? Once again, her production has failed to give the impression that she intended. Yet, she sends it out into the universe, anyway. It's just another daily intrusion into their private lives.

The Watts girls are seated next to one another on the sofa. SW says "Guess what, girls? Mommy has a baby in her belly!" Cece cheers and kicks her feet. BW follows her sister's lead and does the same. "Are you guys excited?" their mother asks. They assure her that they are and they get off the sofa and jump around. SW asks them for a hug and they oblige. BW wants to hug the "baby" and she crouches down to wrap her arms around her mother's tummy. "I love you, Bella" her mother says. I can just imagine how excited BW was that her mommy was carrying a baby. BW had an almost compulsive need to give comfort as a way to ease her own uncomfortable-ness.

It was her first day at AngโRoch Academy, and Britney Jakobs was already listening to her second speech about responsibility. Her father, Sam Jakobs - head of security for humanity's diplomatic delegation, private contractor who ran his own company, and single father - was dropping her off at the prestigious school. Unfortunately, he sometimes forgot his daughter was not one of his team, and so he continued to brief her on the mission parameters and rules she must follow.
โDo your best, and donโt cause trouble.โ His eyes never stopped scanning the shuttles around them as he flew. โYouโre the first human to attend a United Galactic Assembly school of any kind, and this one is meant to be among the best. Pay attention to what happens around you, I want to know anything of interest. Kids overhear things, pick up on stuff at home, and you could get valuable intel, so focus.โ He glanced down at her, only to see she was staring absent-mindedly out of the window. His tone softened. โLook, I know this is your third high school.โ She folded her arms, and he amended, โFourth high school. I have to move around a lot for work, and I know thatโs not easy on you.โ
A shuttle sped past them, and her father became instantly alert, his hand hovering above a small button. The moment passed and he visibly relaxed. โThe other kids will try and get information from you as well, if theyโre smart. Iโm sure you remember how to handle that.โ He glanced over to her and waited until she nodded once. โGood.โ
As the shuttle arrived at the Academy, someone was waiting at the gates who waved them over to an empty spot. The Headmaster greeted her father, and introductions were polite, yet swift, before he hurried Britney inside. A glance behind her showed that her father continued to watch until the doors closed behind them. Inside, the Headmaster immediately began a tour of the schoolโs facilities, talking about the history of AngโRoch Academy. He explained in depth how the school had been created to educate the children of the many diplomats in the United Galactic Assembly. For Britney he was the first Langbar she had seen, and she struggled to focus on his words as the eight foot tall, shaggy blue alien preached about t

My dad is not himself. He's being nice...pleasant even, but it's almost like the whole thing is a show. Ever since he came home from Wisconsin, it feels like I'm living with someone doing an extremely good impersonation of him. It's good enough to fool people on the outside looking in, but you start to notice the small details after long enough. My mom is just happy he's treating her well, so I don't know if she's blinded, but he's just different. Like I said, it's all small stuff. Like my dad was never the type to pry into our personal lives, but all of a sudden he's interested in family dinners and finding out what my sister and I are up to. Again, mom just thinks he's trying harder to connect with us, but I'm not buying it. The other morning I saw him drinking his coffee out of one of our plain white mugs she has like eight of. My dad has only ever drinks his coffee out of the one large bright red mug he keeps above the coffee maker. Says its the perfect amount. I've seen him drink out of that mug my entire life, and now all of a sudden he's doing something different?
I don't know...maybe I'm just on edge, but I feel like he's always watching me now. The other night I was sitting in our den watching TV, and I had that creeping feeling that someone was behind me. When I looked over my shoulder, I could have sworn I saw a shadow move in the hall connecting the den to the bedrooms.
Look, I'm not able to spend a lot of time on Reddit when I'm at home, because I'm scared he might see what I'm up to. I'm sorry if I haven't been so responsive lately. Anyway, here's the next one. I've got one more to get out. I'm sneaking out tomorrow to finish it up, away from my house.

[Real quick message to the readers: What the actual FUCK guys!? I had this story in my head for about a week, then on a work lunch break I started it on a whim. I wasn't expecting anything NEAR the attention part 1 received, especially considering I didn't put too much thought into clean up or mistakes. I'm still shaking off the rust from story writing so don't expect a huge jump in quality. I still have limited time to write and find myself being very busy. That being said, I do have an end goal for this story in mind! And will do my best to post parts weekly. This part coming so fast after the first is a personal thank you for all the support, corrections, criticism and enthusiasm I've received. This part is more about establishment, and perhaps some injected serotonin, don't expect much action until perhaps the next part. Thank you again, and enjoy!]
Simone doesnโt take long showering down, though the heated tub is tempting sheโd rather get to familiarizing herself with the ship as soon as possible. If an emergency is to happen sooner than later it would suck not knowing where the fuck to go.
Plus scrubbing off the gunk off her jacket, trousers and boots will take much more time. In fact the heated tub may turn out to be perfectly suitable to drench her clothes in for a wash.
Though as she looks at the haphazardly folded bundle she changes her mind last minute. She opens the door to the hallway and cups a hand to her mouth.
โYO!โ
The call from a completely different section of the ship carries itโs way all the way to the bridge. Chak perks up.
โOh! Oh no!โ she turns away from Chucknuq and with zippy Cali speed runs out and up to the facilities hallway. Seeing the bare Terran leaning out of the doorframe to the spa. โOh dear! Whatโs wrong!? Were you actually injured in the fight? Did any Carvvv make it on board!?โ she chirps in a panic.
โNah, I was just wondering if thereโs a place where I can clean my clothes. I was going to use the tub here, but it just occurred to me that you guys may not appreciate that so much.โ
The shaken Cali blankly stares at the nonchalant Terran. Then wordlessly points with a lower appendage to the door just across from where the Terran currently stands. A clear sign next to it reads โUniform Washroomโ.

โNo shame in tapping out now, you big furball. I already won last year!โ Winters huffed as he and Antoth locked swords and struggled in close combat. Sweat dripped from the humanโs brow despite the cool morning air, and he could feel Antothโs heavy breath on his face as they pushed against one another vying for advantage. โDamn, you kiss Ratha with breath like that?โ
โYouโd best worry about yourself, Winters,โ Antoth grunted, sweeping at his leg. Winters stepped away from the low attack but the Cauthan was too quick, relying on his speciesโ innate flexibility to strike at the other leg before Winters could restore his balance. The Jumper fell to the ground and groaned uncomfortably as the force of the impact temporarily wrenched the wind from his lungs. Antoth bared his teeth triumphantly, his sword at Wintersโ neck. โDonโt tell me youโre having second thoughts! Win by two was your idea.โ
โAnd you just earned yourself two more beatings,โ he shot back with a smile as Antoth helped him up and Staroth called out the score, eight to eight. It had taken a short time for Russell to explain the concept of โfirst to five, win by twoโ to the Cauthan warriors, but Antoth had agreed readily to the terms. While the arrangement would leave no doubt as to the winnerโs martial prowess, it had left the audience in a difficult position once the two men had reached a score of four to four. For those inclined to bet on the match it was no longer simply a question of which warrior would triumph in the end. Now they could also bet on the overall duration of the contest. Given that most matches between Cauthan were first to three or five, short bouts to allow for show but not unduly tire the combatants, the current spectacle was practically unheard of. Goods and credit changed hands after almost every round, with many growing just as weary as the participants.
โBreak?โ Winters suggested. โSome water maybe?โ

If there's one It Girl in the world of pop right now, it's truly Ariana Grande. She had my entire middle school under her thumb during the thank u, next era and she still keeps the world of pop spinning for her -- i remember when, for this year's International Women's Day, we had to cite women who inspired us in 5 different categories (beauty, intelligence, art, strength, music & art), and she got at least one if not many more nomination in every single category by every single girl in the class. Everytime she announces something it breaks Twitter, and she's completely inescapable whether it's in the real world or on r/popheads. So of course, there had to come a day where i would check out what's all the fuss about (especially since i had somehow not consciously heard a single Ariana Grande song before, despite her dominating pretty much every form of music media and also because i was tired of feeling left out on this very sub), and i went in that order: Positions>Yours Truly>My Everything>Dangerous Woman>Sweetener>thank u, next>Christmas Kisses>Christmas & Chill. Well, did the strength of her music live up to that of her superstar status ? Here's what i concluded myself chronicled in the form of a discography ranking. Go !
"Santa, tell me if you're really there | Don't make me fall in love again if he won't be here next year"
"Baby, I don't care if you got her in your heart | All I really care is you wake up in my arms | One last time | I need to be the one who takes you home"
โItโs very... utilitarian in here.โ MiroโNoir notes with the plastic and chrome walls and tile flooring. Thereโs a carpet bolted to the floor to increase traction and small handholds all over.
โIโm afraid my people just arenโt as wealthy as weโd like to be. The Dauntless is the finest ship humanity has ever produced, but compared to most other vessels around the galaxy itโs liable to come up short in almost every field.โ Vernon admits as he slowly shows her down towards the barracks where he would be living in if not with her.
โAnd where does this ship excel? I canโt say Iโm too thrilled with the idea of you dwelling within such a place.โ She asks as the idea of decompression and just being hit by a pirate raid terrified her.
โThis ship has enough redundant systems that you can break it into pieces and most of those pieces can endure for days or even weeks.โ
โReally?โ
โOh yes, weโve got a dozen little tricks for filtering the air and a few chemical reaction to create oxygen and also keep up air pressure.โ He explains before pointing towards a closet with a large circle and a small squiggle on it. โThat sign is O2. Meaning Oxygen supply.โ He says opening it up. โThis is effectively a candle that gives off safe oxygen to breathe. It also burns very hot so once we set one up we stay away from it.โ He says indicating a few strange cylinders and then gesturing to the closed vent above it.
โInteresting. Where was this technology invented?โ
โIt was made for submarines, underwater vehicles. We adapted a lot of submarine technology for Axiom Free atmospherics. Actually we straight up cannibalized about a dozen different submarines to make the ventilation systems, twice their number in aircraft carriers and a large number of rockets and a few hundred pieces of experimental equipment.โ
โThis really the biggest warship your kind has ever made isnโt it?โ MiroโNoir asks and he nods.
โYes, not only am I still a member of the crew but some of the work building it was done by me. Nothing advanced mind you, but a lot of welding and riveting and soldering.โ
โDid you?โ
โOh yes. This hallway in fact was something that I spent a few days on. The whole thing for the next few hundred meters I was on the team that did all of it. We had to build The Dauntless in space. We just wouldnโt have the technology to get a ship like this into orbit, and landing it without Axiom? It will shatter the insides like glass and crumple the frame as it slams into the ground.โ

Not to say that is a bad thing, of course; itโs just that after seven years of work, school and taking care of aging parents we really really needed a vacation.
Our life revolves around our kids, everything we do has been so they can have a better life themselves. And I think itโs important that children get to see the world and experience new things.
Iโm not saying this to justify that what we did was all right by any means, just stating facts that will make sense as I tell you about our first and ultimately last family vacation.
If for nothing else, when I remind myself of our good intentions; it keeps me sane. Because without that, without family; Iโm not really sure what we have worked for.
Weโd been planning the trip for three years, and with a little help from Paulโs dad we finally got a chance to go this last spring. The destination was a private cottage right on the capes of Finlandโs countryside, a remote and relaxing getaway for all of us to enjoy.
When people asked me why Finland, I didnโt want to admit it was because our budget was tight. We looked into a lot of options, and saved up everything we could. There were other things available of course, but we had promised the girls we were going to show them a world and the year we finally booked it, things seemed to just fall into place.
Paul had gotten a raise, his dadโs health was improving and flights across the Atlantic were not nearly as staggering. The planets had all seemingly aligned just for this trip to happen, so there wasnโt any reason to make an objection.
We waited until spring break so that Madeline and Jesse wouldnโt have to miss school, and used what little of our tax return was left over to get passports for all of us. As the days counted down I spent time getting the girls excited, showing them pictures online of the beaches, the beautiful rolling hills, the sights and sounds we would see.
โAre there horses?โ Madeline asked as we started to pack.
โHoney, we arenโt traveling halfway across the world just so you can pet horses.โ I teased her.
โI donโt wanna pet one mommaโฆ I want to ride one!โ she said excitedly.
โShouldnโt you wait until your birthday?โ I asked her.
โYou said that last year,โ Maddy whined.
I couldnโt fault her there. So that evening as they settled down I looked into different activities the kids could do while we were at the cottage.

Mods... If you exist... Please, stop this madness. Rule #6 should simply not allow NSFW or (wtf) NSFL tags. Also, remember that MINORS browse this subreddit too? Why put that in rule #6, then allow NSFW???
Please consider changing rule #6. I love this sub, but the recent influx of NSFW tagged posts that get all the upvotes, just seem wrong when there are good solid DAD jokes being overlooked because of them.

The pandemic has left me soft and squishy. If tour started tomorrow, Iโd burn out long before Dickโs and youโd likely find my body under the AC boardwalk (note: yes, Iโm aware thereโs a decent chance youโll find my body under the AC boardwalk regardless of what shape Iโm in). Fortunately, weโve got some time to prepare for tour. Hereโs my workout regime:
Monday (Spin Class) - I microdose and do a bunch of bat spins on a 35 degree incline to mentally and physically prepare myself for the Gorge lawn.
Tuesday (Ketel Bell Lifts) - I alternate lifting a handle of Ketel vodka with my right hand and a Bellโs Two Hearted Ale with my left, giving my liver a great one-two punch of a workout.
Wednesday (Dead Lifts) - I lift Moon Beam, a 76 year old Dead Head/living carcass that crashes on my couch, straight over my head while he incoherently lectures me about how Jerry is better than Trey because of the notes he didnโt play. This is a good one for both Phish tour and Dead and Co.
Thursday (Squats) - I squat over a toilet until I get close enough to the seat that I can do a line. Any trainer will tell you, if you wanna pull this off in a porta-potty at Deer Creek, the only place to train is an Arbyโs bathroom. Bonus: your post-workout Arbyโs meal will absolutely prepare you for that heady lot veggie burrito.
Friday (Medicine Ball Toss) - I take a random assortment of pharmies and an 8 ball of coke, then go to the farmersโ market and crash into innocent bystanders, tossing them aside as I practice getting back to my spot on the rail that my gurl, Crystal-Beth, is saving for me. Also, if youโre at the farmersโ market, definitely buy some produce there. Eating organic is soooo important to good health!
Saturday (Water Aerobics) - I do three cycles of five reps of water bong hits. Really strengthens the lungs and if you can handle this, you can handle whatever that twitchy guy in the Twiddle shirt laced the joint he passed you.
Sunday (Cheat Day) - After working so hard all week, I deserve a day where I can take a break and do some drugs.
In all seriousness, take it east out there, kids. You donโt have to make up for a year and a half of pandemic crappiness all at once.
Edit: Fixed a typo and wanted to say thanks for the awards! Also, I saw a comment about trying to do tour sober. I can imagine how that might be a challenge, but having been to many shows sober, itโs totally possible to do while still having a fantastic time! You

I didn't really have any grand ambitions with my degree; you meet a lot of Patrick Bateman types in business school, and if you're anything like me, being around those types of motherfuckers while not being one of them tends to disillusion you from any ideas that you'll be a "captain of industry" or anything like that. All I wanted was an office job that'd pay my bills while I figure out something else to do with my life.
So, naturally, as one does, I sent my resume out to a lot of entry-level positions. Sales, marketing, administrative assistant jobs, that kind of thing.
Eventually, I got a call back for an interview from... a large company I'm not gonna name. They're big enough that they'd probably be pissed at me writing what I'm writing, I'll say that much. If you need a hint, they make kinda shitty prebuilt computers. The interview went well, and by the end of it, I was an administrative assistant with a salary of about 70k a year.
There was one thing the interviewer said, towards the end, that I probably should have taken as a sign to run: "keep an eye out for the business clown."
Now, at the time, I thought he just meant something like "class clown" like that, like I was gonna be working with some asshole playing pranks on everybody. That would've been fine. Not ideal, but I suffer idiots better than most, so I would've taken it. Boy, was I fucking wrong on that one.
Orientation went... pretty much as standard. They showed me around the office, introduced me to my coworkers, showed me what my duties were gonna be, that type of thing. At no point, however, did anyone bring up "the business clown," so I felt compelled to ask.
My superior who was giving me the tour, Dave, looked... frightened.
"Did you see the clown, or did someone tell you about the clown?" Dave asked me.
"It was the last thing that got brought up in the interview. Whoever was giving it told me to keep an eye out for the business clown. What the hell is a business clown?" I asked. Dave breathed a sigh of relief.
"Don't worry about it unless you see him. I'll talk to HR about it," Dave went on, continuing the tour.
At this point, my confusion started to turn into fear. I'm no coulrophobe in general, but something unsettles me about clowns being in places where clowns really shouldn't be. Patch Adams seems like a good dude, but to be perfectly honest I'd probably shit myself if

Thank you for joining an old man on what might be his last time writing such a piece. The tournament report is a type of article from a bygone era. Before the internet killed deck building, there was no real metagame and made it difficult to know if a deck was good or not before a tournament and what other decks one would face. These details could only be gleaned after the fact and thus a report would be written on how the deck performed vs the other creative brews that showed up on that given day. These would often be filled with stories of the car ride to the event, a round by round analysis, and in its glory days the โprops and slopsโ ending. I will attempt today to raise this once mighty art form like the proverbial phoenix from the dumpster fire of Magic the Gatherings Organized Play. When done right, it can transform the mundane telling of a card game tournament into the likes of Frodo taking the One Ring to Mordore. When done poorly it looks a lot like thisโฆ
I wake up at 7am on Saturday and go for a quick run. Itโs exactly 1.25 Kilometers around my block. Four laps for 5K. The only issue I have with this run is that one side is a straight ascent with the next 2 being downhill and the fourth being a slight uphill finish. I struggle running straight up the uphill part without stopping, even when I am in good shape. Today, rolling off the proverbial couch with no workouts done in the last month I struggled hard. Letโs go, old man. No quitting today. Push hard, dig deep, if you make it to the top without quitting, you can achieve all of your goals, I think to myself as remixed pop songs into club bangers blare into my headphones. I make it, but just barely. On the subsequent three laps, I give up farther and farther from the top as my lungs are on fire and my legs have become jelly.
I limp back home feeling more defeated than happy that I went for a run. My lack of physical preparation mirrors my lack of tournament preparation, and a feeling of dread is slowly falling over me. Rewind to last Wednesday and I am playing games vs the one and only MajiinBae (Of Jae and Bae fame). We are playing the Asol โmirrorโ. What happens if I attack with my J4 into your Asol? I ask. โNothingโ he says. I do it anyway and within a few turns, I am utterly defeated. I don't have much of an idea what's important in the match up or how to approach it. I am also playing Zoe/Asol instead of Shyvana/Asol mostly because I had done well with it in two recent tournaments

Despite constantly banging on about the difficulties of the pandemic, professional sports has been completely resilient to it.
Famous athletes get COVID-19 all the time. They disappear for a week or two, and then return. A few come back with stories of being the sickest theyโve ever been. But then they immediately restart doing hard physical labour for a living.
No well-known working pro has succumbed to the disease. None has had his/her career interrupted in any serious way. Even during the most desperate moments in the United States, when thousands of Americans were dying each day, you could turn on the TV and watch live football and basketball.
Watching that, it was hard not to have a secret thought: โWell, how bad can this really be?โ
Sports were the first group activity to ramp up again after the closures of spring 2020. Sports created the first template for a โsafeโ working environment. Sports decided that the early template (i.e. bubbles) was overkill and loosened up before everyone else. Sports had the first entertainment venues to hold crowds again.
For better and worse, no slice of society has done more to make COVID-19 look surmountable than pro sports. It spent a lot of time and energy scolding the rest of us to take COVID-19 seriously, without taking it very seriously itself.
That all stemmed from a (pretty reasonable, as it turns out) feeling of invulnerability on the part of athletes, coupled with the desire to keep making a bunch of money.
Thatโs why Saturday seemed so surreal. Nearly a year and a half into this thing, we had our first profound, pandemic-related professional setback for a pro athlete.
Down in Dublin, Ohio, the PGA is holding the 2021 Memorial. The grounds are packed. Nobodyโs masked. Itโs still apocalypse-lite up here, but down there itโs Mardi Gras.
The Memorial is a sort of mini-major. The winner makes US$1.675-million. He also gets a three-year Tour exemption, as opposed to the usual two for winning any PGA event.
Jon Rahm won the Memorial last year. He was winning the Memorial this year. On Saturday, he had a round for the ages โ an eight-under 64 that put him six shots into the lead. No tou

Hi my glorious legion of fans! Iโm leaving for a wedding this Sunday and I will be out for 10 days. So I wonโt be posting much because I will be doing stuff with my family.
Enjoy!

Artemis stood in front of her now converted commissars and staffer. She had to compartmentalize her feelings, especially after that last outburst early that morning. Sheโll deal with that later. So She smiled. โSo tell us what you know.โ Artemis said.
The staffer stood up. She is pale with steel blue eyes and blond hair done up in a bun. Along with a uniform covered in an unholy amount of medals. Likely she earned less than a quarter of them. Her name is Idruss Vondober. โGeneral Artemis, there is a hit out on your head on orders from the acting general.โ She said formally.
Huh. โHow large of a hit?โ Mr. Jandir asked quirking an eyebrow.
โShe wants the General to see if she is an agent sent by the republic, though I doubt that.โ She said.
โGood. Now tell us the rest and after that we will rough yโall up and ransom you back.โ Artemis said.
โYES GENERALโ they said in unison.
Mr Jandir looks at Artemis with a quirked eyebrow.
Artemis shrugs. โLooks like Iโm going to be stuck here longer than i thought.โ

Artin laid in a two cot setup with her husband. Pain still in her lungs.
โHave you noticed how Artemis is this past hour?โ Salah said. โSince she got back?โ
Artin nods. โI know, thereโs something is up with her.โ She said quietly.
โYour practically her only friend here.โ Salah said. โI want you to go check on her.โ He looks her in the eyes.
Artin nods and gets out of bed. Indeed she is Artemisโs friend. She then had a coughing fit.

Artemis walked passed some checkpoints. Passed some of those dipshit morons who are wearing a sign spelling โNudist Brigadeโ. They stepped out of the way knowing that pissing her off further will not work in their favor.
She had passed some check points and walked on autopilot to an isolated empty spot in the nearby forest.
That last outburst wasnโt supposed to happen.
She replayed the video.

โYOU ARE TRYING TO IMPRESS ME LIKE IโM YOUR ALCOHOLIC FATHER!โ Artemis shouted pointing at Sharmallaโs face.

I have been listening to august on repeat for the past 3 hours and I was suddenly struck by the thought that i would gladly listen to it for the rest of my life even if it meant that I won't be able to listen to any other song again.
The Wildest Dreams/Enchanted mashup from the 1989 World Tour evokes a similar feeling in me. Every bit of that performance is pure perfection.
I like these songs because I don't need to be in a specific kind of mood to enjoy them. Listening to them when I'm happy is oh so euphoric. When I'm sad, they make me cry Every.Damn.Time. When I'm angry, I would scream the lyrics at the top of my lungs and feel my anger dissipate in no time. Even when I'm in a neutral mood, i get this tinge of nostalgia when i listen to these songs even though I've never gone through the feelings expressed in them. To be consice, they never fail to get a reaction out of me.
So r/TaylorSwift, if you could listen to only one song for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
