Message to Mike McMahan or any in the LD production team: If you are reading this, Put in Lucille Ball and have her walking around the background as a crew member. It would make a nice Easter egg and tribute.

So for those who don't know Lucille Ball of "I love lucy" fame was instrumental in getting the original Star Trek off the ground. She basically approved the production of the pilot to be filmed at her own Desilu Studios. I dont expect many more humans to be showing up in prodigy, it would be awkward to get an impersonator, but on LD she could just be walking right in the background minding her own business.

TCM's The Plot Thickens: Lucy is a wonderful 10 part podcast about Lucille Ball and film history

Hi all. I hope this is a quality post. I spend my time lurking on this subreddit to get podcast recommendations and didn't see this one. The podcast is called The Plot Thickens, and the entire season three is a 10 part series about Lucille Ball's life. It starts with her childhood and start to movies, and the later episodes discuss her famous marriage to Desi, their company, Desilu, and its contributions to television. (I won't spoil it, but I was surprised to know just how many shows Lucy's company greenlit.) Episode 6 "I Love Lucy" is a wonderful standalone episode about her hit show.

I started this podcast last Friday and was going to listen until my spouse got home and we made plans. When they did, we spent the evening in listening to the podcast until bed, and finished it on Sunday night. I've never had an experience like that with a podcast before and found myself laughing at Lucy, as well as crying over her personal struggles with The Red Scare and her marriage to Desi.

Anyway if anyone is a Lucy fan, please give it a try. The podcast was incredibly well-made and deserves a larger audience. I wish I could credit the original person I saw this from. I believe it was on a movies or television subreddit, where people were discussing (and disappointed by) the biopic that just came out about her. Well trust me, if you listen to this podcast, you won't be disappointed.

What is the definitive biography of Lucille Ball?

I see many out there, but not sure which is the most complete - Ideally looking for something rich with pictures from all eras of her life.

I see there's one from Kathleen Brady and Charles Higham. Is one better than the other? Is there another one that may be out of print that's good too?

Thanks!

[Podcast] This Was A Thing. Episode 15 - Life With Lucy; Or Lucille Ball Gets Fired

A legend stuck in the past OR a victim of ageism?

To celebrate Being The Ricardos we take a look at Lucille Ball's last sitcom, Life With Lucy... from which she was fired. Yes, the queen of comedy was fired.

Life With Lucy Podcast Link

We talk about Lucille Ball's career post I Love Lucy, her bizarre television movies in the 1970s (including Lucy becoming President of NBC), how lucy was courted by ABC, why The Cosby Show and The Golden Girls created Life With Lucy, Lucy's loyalty to her staff, and how she was brutally dismissed by a network then stole her schtick!

Contains some bad language.

Is anyone else listening to TCM’s podcast, β€œThe Plot Thickens”, season 3 on the Life of Lucille Ball?

I have now listened to the 9 episodes released and am eagerly awaiting the 10th episode next week! If you haven’t been listening, start downloading immediately! I now consider this a β€œmust listen” for any Lucy fan.

That being said, this series is seriously messing with me emotionally. I didn’t realize how much my views of Lucy and Desi were seen through the lenses of Lucy and Ricky Ricardo. I always knew that Desi had a drinking problem and that they fought often in their marriage. But holy crap, I had no idea just how devastating certain details of their relationship and lives truly were. I feel gut punched and at a loss for words. Hearing how Lucy thought her fans didn’t love her anymore after the critics blasted her performance in β€œMame” (1974) nearly broke me.

I just want to hug her. I even want to hug Desi! This podcast is so, so good… but be prepared. It’s very emotional to true Lucy lovers.

What happened to Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz

Lucille Ball - Rodden Rating AA; Desi Arnaz - Rodden Rating D

In a previous post, I examined the astrological compatibility between Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello, and the causes of their breakup. In this post, I will look at another Leo-Pisces celebrity coupe from the 1950s, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz.

Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz are best known as the lead actors and creators of one of the most famous and popular American sitcoms of all time, I Love Lucy. According to their biographers and media reports at the time, they had an intense, passionate, tumultuous love affair and eloped 6 months after first meeting. Despite challenges and infidelity, the marriage lasted 20 years. Even after they divorced, Lucille and Desi stayed close for the rest of their lives.

The purpose of this post is to use astrological techniques to understand the relationship compatibility and challenges between Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, and the timing of major events in their relationship. One advantage to astrological analysis of historical figures is that they often write biographies. The timing and details of important events are available. Contemporary public figures are understandably more guarded about sharing the details of their lives.

The Positives

Many pop astrology sources will tell you that Leo and Pisces suns aren't compatible.
