Did Leonardo da Vinci know of Fibonacci?

I’m reading Isaacson’s biography of Leonardo da Vinci right now and while it alludes to da Vinci incorporating the golden ratio into his artwork, it doesn’t mention anything about him being influenced by Leonardo Fibonacci. The internet hasn’t helped much either. Do any of you know about this?

I. The Abstract

The main purpose of this work is to provide a technical counter-thesis to the current market craze, and to spark a constructive discussion. As it was mentioned in the post title, the tools that were used for creating this TA on SPY include: market cycles analysis, for setting a suitable framework; Elliot waves theory as a method of ordering major market movements; Fibonacci retracement for identifying the key, magnetic support and resistance levels; and a sweet 150 moving average to predict the potential bottom of the bear market. These tools will also be given a deeper explanation in the beginning of the discussion, for a bigger circle of WSB participants to wrap their brains around the technical factors at play. If you consider yourself to be a trader with sufficient technical knowledge and skills, feel free to skip the part II. The third part will be focused on the technical data accumulation, based on the historical examples from different time periods, and for different markets types. Part IV is the juiciest, as it incorporates the thesis formation through the application of all the data accumulated in the process of the analysis. V is a bonus part. In 1202 a book is written called Liber Abaci by an Italian mathematician named Leonardo of Pisa, posthumously known as Fibonacci. Part of the book is dedicated to estimating the growth of rabbit populations. In the book, the young mathematician uses what is now known as the Fibonacci sequence.

Originally this sequence was from the Indian Sanskrit prosody. This sequence is a series of numbers where a number is the addition of the last two numbers, starting with 0, and 1

The sequence is seen throughout natureβ€”for example in the number of petals of flowers; many flowers have three petals (like lilies and irises), or five (parnassia, rose hips), eight (cosmea), thirteen (some daisies), twenty-one (chicory), thirty-four, fifty-five or eighty-nine, and so on.

It didn’t take long for the Fibonacci sequence to be connected to our population. Some believe this is a confirmation of god’s work at hand. A divine presence. Some believe that it is proof that we are only part of a simulation. That reality is only a combination of 0's and 1's.

AMC Technical Analysis DD

Friends, Traders, Apes lend me your gorilla ears. As requested by fellow Apes I am here to discuss technical analysis as related to our beloved AMC.

While many of you may be skeptical of TA (technical analysis), I encourage you to see / read this post through. This Ape was formerly a chartist for several of the worlds largest Futures, Forex, and CFD providers. If you have never analyzed a chart your in luck. My objective today is to add a wrinkle to this smoothed brained legion. Due to time constraints this post is not intended to be all inclusive. However, if this post is well received, I may be willing to do a live stream event or post further analysis in the future.

First off, Apes need to understand what TA is. TA is the graphic study of price action relative to a specified time scale. At the end of the day, my job is to see where Apes are selling and accumulating bananas and then weight the probability of these patterns repeating at certain locations. These areas may influence future patterns of supply and demand allowing traders to then accumulate more bananas.

Before I continue, I need to mention any information disclosed here within is my own opinion and should be considered educational in nature. This is not financial advice, and all Apes should do their own DD prior to placing any trades. Apes can possibly lose bananas when trading! Also be aware, that while I love the stock, I will be posting both bullish and bearish perspectives. Any objective analyst / trader should be ale to tell both tales of the ticker tape.

Let’s dig in!

First, lets take a wide lens look at AMC. As many posts have noted, β€œwhen in doubt zoom out”. When using multi-time frame analysis this Ape concurs. Use a bigger chart first. Below you will find a 1Month chart for AMC. Our job on this graph is to find a range of prices holding up the security (support) and holding down the security (resistance). Then we need to identify the general direction of the chart.

The chart above shows AMC trending lower. Apes, this means going back to 2017 the price of AMC bananas have been getting cheaper. We can quantify this because the market swings (pivots or turns) are getting lower. The key levels to note are the 1.91 low and the 21.45 high. Apes should notice that the January spike ended at a historic distribution point

I myself am a Crayola Connoisseur and hoping to bring the next digestible source of confirmation bias for everyone aboard the GME rocket.

The beautiful thing about the stock market is that there are a multitude of techniques used to predict price changes and market shifts. While at this time the shorts have been doing basically whatever they want; so most of these techniques are being ruled out.

Ever hear of the Golden Ratio?

It all boils down to the homie Leonardo Fibonacci and the Golden Ratio.

Quick debrief: The golden ratio was discovered by some dude. Our boy Fibonacci discovered the pattern of numbers converging onto this ratio. This pattern starts from 0 or 1. The next number in the pattern is found by adding the 2 previous numbers before it.

0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144…

You get it.

The reason it is so important and why it’s called the golden ratio is because it is found in almost all aspects of the universe. Yes the universe. You can see this ratio form in the spiral of a galaxy or a snail shell. Even the human fuckin face has it. Basically this ratio is bigger than our understanding.

So what did I do? I tried to understand it. More specifically understand how it affects the stock market. And even more specifically, understand how it’s affecting our GME rocket ship.

Elliott Waves

As you can see, I am an Elliotticians (one who subscribes to Elliott Wave Theory.) EWT was brought to us by R.N. Elliott in a book titled The Wave Principle in 1938. In it, he concluded that movement of stocks could be predicted by observing and identifying a repetitive pattern of waves - motive waves and corrective waves.

Motive waves, aka impulses, move price in the direction of the trend.In bull markets, the impulse is a longs friend; in a bear it's the shorts friend.

Corrective waves retrace or pull-back price action.Everything that can be said about a motive wave applies to a corrective, just reverse it.

$TX -- What the Indicators Have to Say

So here's some $TX analysis -- do your own research, all my market assumptions are that we are in a general steel bull cycle -- we are r/Vitards after all. I just do the technical analysis. Let's get started

Fibonacci RetracementLeonardo of Pisa AKA Fibonacci noticed that a pattern occurs in nature and eventually it got named after him.

That same pattern is also present in the market and it's one of my favourite tools.

What we see below is a Fib Retracement from the previous swing low to most recent swing high

Using Fibonacci's observations the computer does it's magic and we can observe the patterns Fibonacci told us of.

So what does this mean?

Whenever we see a high after a low we're bound to dip -- profit taking, bears, etc.

Fibonacci allows us to take accurate guesses as to where that dip will reverse

Currently on $TX I see 2 viable reversal points -- see image below with arrows

- $37.25 (0.236)

- $35.18 (0.382)

- Usually dips happen up to the 0.5 Fib retracement, but taking other indicators into account I don't see a high % of that happening yet

Daily Time Frame

**What about this image?**This one just proves my point about Fibonacci

This is $TX on a daily time frame between Oct 29 -- Feb 17 with a

Swing low $18.47

Swing high $34

See image below --- We reversed at exactly the 0.5 Fib Zone ($26.32)

I told you the guy is from Pisa -- they know how to work with things that lean to one side

Daily

Ok if the 2nd picture showed a reversal at 0.5 why are you saying a reversal at 0.5 now is not likely?

So if we zoom in to the 1H time frame

Swing low - March 26 - $34.42

Swing high - April 5 - $40.50

We can see in the image below that we touched the 0.382 ($38.18) and started bouncing back

The reversal is not confirmed at this point and we might still see the 0.5 ($37.46) being tested

But if we look at the Green Circle at the bottom of this image below

We can see the red bars turn into light red signalling an entry point

Also the MACD lines look overdue for a trajectory reversal

(Warning: Morbid dad joke) True Story -- My family were planning my mum's funeral. We always try to keep things light and try to stay positive, just as Mum would have it...

The funeral director was asking us what we think Mum should wear in her casket.

Mum always loved to wear sarongs (fabric wraps that go around the torso and drape downward a bit like a long skirt would), so my uncle suggested that she wear a sarong in there.

The funeral director looked a bit confused, as did some of our family members, to which my uncle added:

"What's sarong with that?"

I started laughing like an idiot. He was proud of it too. The funeral director was rather shocked. We assured her, and our more proper relatives, that Mum would've absolutely loved the joke (which is very true).

His delivery was perfect. I'll never forget the risk he took. We sometimes recall the moment as a way help cushion the blows of the grieving process.

As it was mentioned in the post title, the tools that were used for creating this TA on SPY include: market cycles analysis, for setting a suitable framework; Elliot waves theory as a method of ordering major market movements; Fibonacci retracement for identifying the key, magnetic support and resistance levels; and a sweet 150 moving average to predict the potential bottom of the bear market. These tools will also be given a deeper explanation in the beginning of the discussion, for a bigger circle of Superstonk participants to wrap their brains around the technical factors at play. If you consider yourself to be a trader with sufficient technical knowledge and skills, feel free to skip the part II. The third part will be focused on the technical data accumulation, based on the historical examples from different time periods, and for different markets types. Part IV is the juiciest, as it incorporates the thesis formation through the application of all the data accumulated in the process of the analysis. V is the most important part. $BTC ANALYSIS, GOLDEN RATIO

Sup guys, I saw a $BTC drop and thought you might want to be bombarded with some frickin' technical information about trading. Today, guys and bois, we get deep, Mariana trench deep, we study MATH.

What is Fibonacci in trading?

Leonardo Fibonacci was a smart boi who created the Fibonacci sequence of numbers and the golden ratio. The Fibonacci sequence is a series of numbers where you sum the previous 2 numbers to get the current number, which would mean 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144.. to infinity. They mean something so much more,but it exceeds the purpose of this post, nobody is gonna read that and for trading it really doesn't matter.

How it affects trading?

The focus tends to be on the ratio between the numbers in the sequence. Traders usually use three main ratios, they are many more, but those are the ones that matter the most, 38.2%, 50% (technically not Fibonacci) and 61.8%.

The 38.2% ratio is found by dividing one number in the series by the number two places to the right. For example, 21 divided by 55 equals 0.382. Fibonacci levels are mainly used to identify support and resistance levels. These levels provide signals for traders to enter new positions in the direction of the original trend.

Basically, risk management. Showing levels of support and resistance.

"How do I use it?"

We can create Fibonacci retracements by starting at the bottom and finishing up top, kinda reversed foreplay. Fibonacci retracements work by taking its peak and draggin' down the dip too.

***Ok, ok. BUT NOW WHAT? BTC gonna go brr?***r first support 0.236, now we heading down to 0.382. We showing signs of breakdown. What we don't want is to go below 0.618 we starting to worry, it might be a price correction (not very probable right now). Now we just waiting for a confirmation that it might stop at 0.382 and then do a swing and bounce back, might take a while tho, we are on the daily chart. SO BE patient.

Gonna continue more on Fibonacci retracement, but i didn't want to fill this post too much. Stay safe and buy low, sell high.

My favorite 13th century Italian account, Leonardo Fibonacci, told me today that it's time to go all in on Bitcoin. The 8:30 ET low bounced right off the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement line. Straight line to the moon.
