In 2012 a man was caught shoplifting a USB stick from the Karavan shopping center in Kiev Ukrane. He attempted to check out a loaf of bread and possibly another item when he was approached by store security and taken into the security office.
There were four guards inside the room. At this point the guards attempted to solicit a bribe. The man pulled out a pistol and proceeded to shoot all four guards. Three died. The pistol had a device to catch the discarded casings that fell off during the event. The man then checked the hallway and returned to the room. He approached the computer desk, does/takes something, and leaves.
This is a summary of the video which is easily findable online. This appears to my eye to be a man who had some sort of training or experience, he goes into a corner, waits until he has the right angle of all the guards, and starts shooting. First shot was a contact shot to the heart. Calm throughout, even after the shooting is over he does not panic or run.
Several people apparently identify the man on the video as a 38 year old local man, an out of work plasterer. There is a massive manhunt for the man. Several months later he is found dead, an apparent suicide.
The authorities claim the man was a former enforcer for the Russian mob who made a living customizing guns. They claim they found a shirt with the guards blood on it in his home.
The supposed killers wife claims he was not the man in the video and suffered from arthritis and would not have been able to move like the murderer did.
The person in the video appears younger than 38.
Questions.
Why? This is a completely illogical murder, the penalty for shoplifting can't be high enough to justify triple murder even for a hardened criminal. And if you have something to hide, why would you shoplift and risk being exposed? Why not just pay the bribe?
What do we make of the wife's claims?
What can we tell from the video? What is the killer doing when he renters the room?
