A list of puns related to "Julie Kavner"
Iβve been watching since the Tracey Ullman days when I was in elementary school. The show has seen me through college, grad school, a marriage, and births and deaths. Julie Kavnerβs voice is so awful I had to turn on the closed captioning to follow this season. It breaks immersion. It ruins the show.
Ideally, Iβd like to see them finally retire the show with the OG cast in a short and spectacular season. If they canβt do that, itβs time to start recasting.
Her Marge is pretty rough to listen to at this point.
Would you be any more offended by a new Marge than you would, just generally, by a new season?
Her Marge is so painful to listen to in the past couple years. But she probably is stuck in a contract and has to do it. I donβt know how anyone expected her to do that character for 31 years
Julie's voice is gone and Marge sounds like a dying cat as a result. Maybe she could change the voice, but that isn't staying true to the character. I think killing her off will add a lot more depth to the show, similarly to how they killed off Mod Flanders. It's worth it to elongate the show's run; they'll never make it to 1,000 episodes with her
It's painful to listen to and it sounds like she's in pain to provide the voice.
Her voice as marge is sound sing old and closer to patti and Selma
I have seen footage of the other characters, but finding the voice of Marge Simpson actually doing her voice for fun just seems to be impossible?
Wikipedia says she is very protective of revealing Marge's voice on film. Does anyone know of any footage of her voicing Marge?
I know that I'm over a year late to the party on this one, but for one reason or another, I never got around to watching the new dub of Neon Genesis Evangelion on release over a year ago. I watched bits and pieces, but never got around to watching the whole thing. Part of it was admittedly that my first impressions were not very good, so for quite a while I just left it.
First, let's get one issue out of the way: nostalgia. I first saw Evangelion in 1999, and as one might expect, I've long since become used to the voices from the original ADV cast. I still haven't quite become accustomed to the casting changes when Funimation casted for the Rebuild movies. As a result, the new voices didn't really sound 'right' to me at first, but I did get used to them. Now, in 'reviewing' the new dub, I'm trying not to focus on the voices themselves, but rather on the line deliveries and the script; still, the way the voices themselves sound can't be ignored.
I remember that the backlash was said by some to be 'extreme' in 2019, but then, you can't change a long-standing and well-known - even iconic - cast and not expect backlash. I think Netflix themselves knew this - note that they waited until the last possible minute before unveiling the cast rather than reveal the cast early to generate hype as is sometimes done with anime.
My go-to analogy for the impact of the casting changes is The Simpsons. Let's say that Disney and 20th Century Studios decided to embark on a remastering project for early episodes, and this would include an all-new re-recording and dub of the scripts. However, they made a point to not use original cast members for this undertaking, even though actors like Dan Castellaneta, Nancy Cartwright, and Julie Kavner expressed their interest in taking part. This actually happened for Evangelion - not long after it was announced that Netflix had acquired the licence, Spike Spencer, Tiffany Grant, and Amanda Winn-Lee all expressed interest in reprising their roles, since it was anticipated that Netflix would commission a new dub track.
I'm not going to pretend that nostalgia isn't a big issue for me or that I'm totally unbiased, which is why I'm addressing it right now, but as I've posted before several times, I think it's unfair for people to claim that criticism of the new dub is largely - or even solely - driven by nostalgia, as some people have actually suggested, because it implies that any criticisms aren't fair or legitimate. It rea

Dan Castallaneta (also 63)'s, performance as Homer since the Ullman debut also met half his age in 2018. Homer (39), was 9 years older than Castallaneta in 1987.

So there's this type of female voice which tends to crack here and there when speaking ... Marge Simpson is the only commonly known example I can think of.
In this interview, Julie Kavner (Marge's voice actress) demonstrates what I mean at 0:50 and 01:10, and at 1:51 too.
Is there a word for that kind of voice? Do you know other public figures with that kind of voice?
Edit: Bonnie from Family Guy is a reallygood example too, at 1:04, when her voice cracks. Maybe you just call it hoarse ...

The funeral director was asking us what we think Mum should wear in her casket.
Mum always loved to wear sarongs (fabric wraps that go around the torso and drape downward a bit like a long skirt would), so my uncle suggested that she wear a sarong in there.
The funeral director looked a bit confused, as did some of our family members, to which my uncle added:
"What's sarong with that?"
I started laughing like an idiot. He was proud of it too. The funeral director was rather shocked. We assured her, and our more proper relatives, that Mum would've absolutely loved the joke (which is very true).
His delivery was perfect. I'll never forget the risk he took. We sometimes recall the moment as a way help cushion the blows of the grieving process.
--Edit-- I appreciate the condolences. I'm doing well and the worst is behind me and my family. But thanks :)
--Edit-- Massive thanks for all the awards and kind words. And the puns! Love 'em.

True story; it even happened last night. My 5-year-old son walks up behind me and out of the blue says, "hey."
I turn to him and say, "yeah, kiddo? What's up?"
He responds, "it's dead grass."
I'm really confused and trying to figure out what's wrong and what he wants from me. "What? There's dead grass? What's wrong with that?"
.
.
.
He says, totally straight-faced, "hay is dead grass," and runs off.
I'm compiling a list of childfree people for a blog. I have found a few lists online (which have been helpful). But in some cases they were not up-to-date. A person may have had children since being added to their list (example: I had to remove George Clooney who appeared on a number of lists). Or there might be some people missing who should be on the list.
If you have a moment to scan the list and let me know of any other errors or omissions it would be appreciated.
It has been fun working on this list. A few people on it surprised me. Thanks again for any help.
*Edit for clarification: the term "childfree", in the sense of this list, will be in regards to people who never had a child from a live birth, fostered a child, adopted a child, or was a step-parent.
