A list of puns related to "Jokes In English"
You must be having a good semester then since all your classes are Lit
My 3 year old brother came up to me (and everyone else in the house several times each) to tell a joke he made up (translated from Turkish but works in English anyway).
3yo: Do you need to go to the bathroom (a question we ask him frequently)?
Me: No
3yo: Are you sure?
Me: Yes?
3yo: Oh, hi Sure!
Sons mate: I got 90% for my maths test today.
Me: That's great, what was it about?
Him: Volume
Me: What? I didn't catch that.
Him (slightly louder): Volume
Me: Sorry I couldn't hear you
Him (louder still): VOLUME!
I walk off chuckling to myself while he looks confused.
Today we were eating and my son ate a carrot without using the fork so my wife promptly said: "Don't eat with your fingers..." to which he answered: "I'm eating with my mouth!"
I was soooo happy and my wife had to let it slide...
(We don't speak English so I hope the joke isn't lost in the translation)
EDIT: Thanks for all the upvotes :) This was an unexpected surprise to wake up to. Very happy that it translates in to English so well. Now some clarifications:
Yes... the carrots were cooked, we are not psychopaths (in regards to our eating habbits)
My son is 10 years old and still living at home
We all speak English, just not our native language and not used at the dinner table
I didn't make the joke in english but it translates well.
We just had lunch and my mom was clearing out the table and putting stuff in the dishwasher while my brothers and my dad were talking about the party we were going to that afternoon. My mom and dad would go there by bike and my brothers and I would take the car.
Then my mom said: "should I turn on the dishwasher so everything will be clean when we'll return?"
On which I commented: "That's not fair, we go by car, and you by bike, while the dishwasher has to run?"
Hi! I need some dad jokes about Portugal and/or Portuguese things in English. Please share and help. Thanks!
I have a penpal from Spain I talk to a lot. Today we were chatting on Google Chat in English, and the topic of whether or not sea lions were dangerous came up.
Me: okay google says "sea lion saves man" has 976,000 results
Her: that man has sinked so many times
Edit: Bonus, she continued laughing at her own joke.
Her: hahahahaha
Her: i cant stop laughing
Her: it was so bad joke
Her: hahaha

My dad recently retired and has since gotten a new favorite joke that he tells everyone who calls to congratulate him with his retirement.
The pun doesn't really work in english(I'm danish), but I thought I would share it anyway. This is how it usually goes:
Caller: How are you holding up? are you enjoying your spare time?
Dad: I actually just started my pHD
Caller: What? Wow
Dad: Pensioner every day
(In danish It would be: Pentionist hver dag, hence the PhD)
It's not funny at all, but he loves it and tells it to everyone
So last night we were brushing our teeth before going to bed, and I ask her "You know why eating a clock is a bad idea?"
She looks at me funny, because she knows what's coming.
"Because it's very time consuming."
She just rolls her eyes, and goes to bed. But because the joke was in English, and English isn't our first language, I think she didn't quite get it.
A minute after she lies down, I hear a loud groan coming out of bed, followed by "that was really, really lame, honey!"
So the other day I heard a great joke that I decided to share with my girlfriend. I sent her this: "What is an australians favorite metal?" She answered that she didn't know, but knowing me it'd be something absurdly stupid.
Now would be a good time to tell that in my native language "gold" is a cute nickname you call your SO, kinda like "honey" in English.
When I answered "Gold", she replied almost instantly "Yes sweetie?"
I'm so proud of her.
My cousin's girlfriend (CGF) is a primary school teacher and last night we were discussing her class size and the subjects she teaches.
Me: "How big are the classes you teach"
CGF: "ive got 28 in english and maths, 30 in science and 28 in topics"
Me: "What on earth is topics?"
CGF: "oh its stuff like history, R.S, Art, Geography and all that stuff"
Me (With the biggest grin on my face holding back laughter): "OH, THE HUMANITIES"
my girlfreind and CGF groan, me and cousin laugh and high five.
Sidenote. My couisn is one of the biggest dad jokers ive ever met, so he really apreciated the terrible joke.
First of all sorry for any spelling or grammar errors.
My friend had a bad pain in his right shoulder. He went to the female doctor who did all the things doctors do.
I waited him outside because I was driving, and I waited for a about 30 minutes.
Finally he was done and we were ready to go home. I asked him how it went and he said to me that the doctor is really nice and good looking and that she was all over him, checking the arm, shoulder and the back, joking that she wanted him.
And I jokingly said on english "She want's the D", he said yea dude and smiled and I continued "Diagnose".
My parents are both immigrants from Taiwan and came in the mid 80's. We've always owned restaurants (currently have a Japanese steak house this is important for later) so their English isn't all that bad and has improved over time. I've never gotten a single dad joke from him. Ever.
Que yesterday we are driving home from a family dinner to celebrate his birthday. We all get into the vehicle and my mom says in Chinese "You've got something hanging onto your shirt, it looks stringy. Is that a spider web?"
I respond, "What? That's his pet, he can't raise a pet spider?"
Dad says, "Yeah I raise them really big and fat so we can make spider rolls at the restaurant." (Spider roll is typically softshell crab in a roll with other stuffs for the non-sushi fans out there)
I groaned, chuckled, then reveled in all that was my first dad joke. It was awesome. Thanks for reading guys! Sorry it's so long.
Background: I'm living in Germany and have a German roommate who can speak some English. He did Realschule (completed 10th grade), but mostly ditched classes. I try to teach him when I can and vice versa.
We were watching Walking Dead. The episode was right after the prison gets stormed. Rick and Carl lock themselves in a house, and Carl ties a knot that he's super proud of... Blablabla... A few minutes later, knot is quickly falling apart as zombies try to break in.
I absentmindedly said: "Cool knot, bro" Roommate: "(K)not cool, bro"
I just looked at him with a mixture of surprise, pride, and wondering still if he knows what a dad joke is.
I'm not a dad, and not even English, but a friend's dad would make this joke:
Green green, green green...
Yellow?
Brown, brownbrownbrownbrown, brownbrown, brown.
Pink!
But I'm pretty sure there was more colours in it than that. Can somebody help?
Thanks!
Dad calls me, and asks what I'm doing "I'm watching a show called Suits" is my answer, and then he goes: "Oh does it suit you?"
Note: I'm not English, but he still said that sentence in English, just to make that joke.
This was quite a while ago, I was probably in middle school (currently 26). My family took a quick day trip to Universal Studios Hollywood since we live in the greater LA area. Now to set the scene, my dad is a native of Mexico but has lived here since his late teens so his English is pretty good with a tinge of an accent since Spanish is his primary language. We park in the parking garage on property and we do the usual "make a mental note of where we parked for later". That's when I see a smirk come across his face as he turns to me laughing under his breath.
-"What's so funny?"
-"Notice where we parked?"
-"Yeah. Jurassic Park lot, 3B"
Cue dad
-"Jurassic Park..." half expecting me to laugh. He continues "Jurassic Park... Jurr-Ass-is-Parked"
facepalm
As terrible as it was at the time, I've tried to pull this joke out with friends years later, eye rolls and crickets. Thanks dad.
So I brought in kolaches to the office this morning for breakfast. For those that don't know, they're basically bread rolls filled with egg, cheese and whatever else you want. One of my coworkers started talking about how they reminded him of some kind of cake "with M&Ms in it."
Except English isn't his first language, so he was saying it a little weird.
Him: "You can't bake a cake with M&M in it."
Me: "'Cause you'd kill him."
There was absolutely no reaction whatsoever, so I can't tell if people were just ignoring my awful joke or if just nobody heard me.
I said, "Hey [friendsname], I wanna tell you something."
She said, "Is this gonna be a joke?"
"No, it's just a neat fact."
"Okay, what is it?"
"In every single English dictionary, there is always one word that is spelled incorrectly."
"Really? Which one?"
"Incorrectly."
She laughed.
The day was raining like fish blown up by dynamite. The only jacket I had for the situation was fire Red with layered protection from such fish. I'm going to my college computer lab, trying to get my 24 hours of time in there done. It requires you to sign in with your student ID.
"May I see you card?" the teacher asks.
"Sure... So, how much time do I have allotted?" I asked after she signed me in.
"Huh? Oh, wait, sorry, can I see your card again? "
"Wait, I don't own a Cardigan"
Being an English teacher, she smiled and caught it quickly, "No, your card, but your jacket might suffice otherwise."
Edit: This might be too much setup for a stiff joke.
Today in class someone asked my English teacher why he never turned the lights on in class. He jokingly responded "I never turn the lights on, note at home either, I always sit at home in the dark"
A few people chuckled, but then he responded seriously: "I never turn on the lights at school. At home I do though, however not on my bedroom. You see, when I stand like this (and then he faced towards the girl who asked him the question) I have a big window in my back." To which I quickly responded "What? A window in your back? I have mine in a wall."
Not a lot of people heard it, but one guy laughed out really loud, and a classmate just rolled his eyes and was like "dude.."
