A list of puns related to "Johor River"
This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 24%. (I'm a bot)
> SINGAPORE: The water supply in Singapore will not be affected by high ammonia levels in the Johor River, Singapore's national water agency PUB said in a Facebook post on Sunday.
> Johor River Waterworks had to temporarily stop treatment operations at 11am on Saturday, PUB said.
> While the water supply to Singapore and some parts of Johor was affected, PUB has stepped up production at desalination plants and local waterworks to meet demand.
> Ammonia levels of 2.75 parts per million were recorded in the raw water on Friday night and three water treatment plants were closed down.
> Malaysia resident in Johor Baru, Kulai and Kota Tinggi were affected, The Star reported.
> PUB added that it is monitoring the raw water quality in the Johor River and will resume abstraction and treatment of raw water when the water quality is suitable.

São Paulo Grand Prix: Deliver 1200 passengers using only loops
One of my least favorite maps and I guess you can see why as well. You can also tell that this is also my least favorite achievement out of all simply because I rarely use loops in my free time. I raged quite a lot on it before engaging it in a more approachable manner. To actually complete it is to get an understanding of when and how the high proportional RNG rate goes insanely difficult. Right off the bat, the game will unload an incredible and unstoppable passenger flow by week 2 so you want to prepare a lot of carriages that may help delay the inevitable. One thing I noticed is that the loops that have the most connecting stations would require a lot of carriages and when I mean a lot, I mean A LOT. You’re gonna need to have a balance between the line to carriage ratio as for every 1 line you get, you must get 3-4 carriages in return rather than the regular 1:2 or 1:1 ratio every other map uses. Loops would also need to be concise and short to quickly go back around in under 30 seconds. If a train does not go fully around the loop within that time, you must shorten the loop by decreasing the amount of stations. Focus on dividing the main downtown area into smaller subsections where each line is self-sufficient in having a square, triangle, and circle station with only relying on the special shaped passengers as its main passenger movement. Again, each loop must have a clockwise and a counterclockwise movement with their trains. No 2 trains go in the same direction (unless it is an extra). Also, don’t pass up on the North Zone of the map as special stations will indefinitely pop up in that region so focus on having it as a second priority after carriages. It is better for the outside zones on the West and North loops to only touch 1 station, preferably a square station, with another line as to prevent time wasted on trains going to unnecessary stations. Tunnels are not needed since 4 is enough. Remember: the passengers are going to take the shorte

As it turns out the copy there was pretty good. So I visited the library a few months back and transcribed the whole article from microfilm.
For the uninitiated, the Teochew-Hokkien Riots (1854) "lasted more than 10 days. While contemporary observers differed in their estimates, records indicate that approximately 500 persons were killed and 300 homes destroyed."
As eloquent redditor u/petrificustotallus wrote:
>Somewhat interesting to note that the death toll was many times higher than the Maria Hertogh riots (18 dead) and the 1964 Race Riots (23 dead in the July riots, 13 in the September riots), two riots that are practically known by all Singaporeans, and which are given considerably more attention in the national curriculum (to demonstrate the fragility of race relations in our multiethnic society). It's quite bewildering to realise that (probably) the deadliest communal conflict that took place in our history involved two groups of people we can barely distinguish (or even care/know enough to do so) today.
My friends ZN (Teochew!) and D had not heard of this and wanted to read the article. Not knowing the best place to archive and share my transcription, I thought that r/singapore was a great place. Here is my transcription, with ellipses when the microfilm was unreadable, and probably with a few typos.
Hope this helps a hobbyist or future budding historian.

THE CHINESE RIOTS.
15 May 1854
Since noon on Friday the 5th [ines?] the town of Singapore has been in a state of riot and disorder, threatened by thousands of the Chinese community; members of different Provinces, or rival Hueys noting hostilely towards each other, while a mass of miscreants avail of the general consternation and local disturbance to plunder the shops of the weak or the defenceless. The Press and Public have for many years requested the interference of the legislature to put down those monster combinations, but without effect: fostered and enco

Somewhere in the early 2010s, I was serving as a medical doctor at a small district hospital in Kelantan - Northern Malaysia, and we did almost everything from surgery to forensic post-mortem examination.. We were serving a small community and we often had the free time during oncalls to exchange stories..
I do not enjoy "horror stories" and I do not appreciate the jump-scares of horror films (movies) in general.. and I definitely do not enjoy the violence in those films.. but.. I enjoy the moments of realization - you know, the "aha!!" moment of 'the Six Sense' and 'the Others' - films that start with a mystery and end-up with a horrifying realization.. 🎶 dum dum daaaaa!! 🎶
and.. this is where this story fits in..
It started with an autopsy in Kelantan (on the east coast of Malaysia near Thailand) and in it ended in Pinang (on the west coast of Malaysia) at least from my prospective..
It was Wednesday when a car stopped at our emergency department (accidents & emergency A&E); then a man came down yelling frantically:
- "Help!! He collapsed on the side of the road near my farm!!"..
The other man at the back seat was already dead on arrival; so naturally, this would trigger a police investigation.. ^(Errrrgh!!) It was going to be one of those days!! So I picked-up the phone to call the police and to call our east-coast Pathologist who is a very important man and he is kinda like a rock-star around here.. but he is a very meticulous man.. sometimes too meticulous..
I knew that I was about to spend the next 6 hours standing still while assisting him in the autopsy wearing layers of plastics that are covered with blood; and with police officers looking over our shoulders and breathing over our necks..
I often felt that the police officers really wanted to join-in in the fun by putting their hands inside the victim and by throwing internal body-parts at each other like a beach ball; but that would be against protocol....
6 hours standing.. 2 more days to finish the report.. Cause of Death: Natural causes..
Finally, came the weekend!! I was FREE!!.. .. My girlfriend at the time worked in Pinang some 300km (186 miles) away, but we were trying to make the long-distance relationship work with me driving to Pinang every weekend.. The problem was; afte

If you feel it's appropriate to share NSFW jokes with your kids, that's on you. But a real, true dad joke should work for anyone's kid.
Mods... If you exist... Please, stop this madness. Rule #6 should simply not allow NSFW or (wtf) NSFL tags. Also, remember that MINORS browse this subreddit too? Why put that in rule #6, then allow NSFW???
Please consider changing rule #6. I love this sub, but the recent influx of NSFW tagged posts that get all the upvotes, just seem wrong when there are good solid DAD jokes being overlooked because of them.
Thank you,
A Dad.
Well, toucan play at that game.
