A list of puns related to "Japanese Carpentry"
https://youtu.be/6HMa5tofqps
Hello, my name is Simon.
I'm studying woodworking and I'm trying to get an apprenticeship in beautiful Japan, to learn the ancient and traditional ways of carpentry in Japan.
I have written an application, but i need help to translate it since it looks like google translate is butchering my sentences. I didn't know what to, but then i thought I'd give reddit a shot to get some help.
Thank you in advance! <3
Application:
Hello,
My name is Simon, I am a 26-year-old woodworking student from Denmark.
This is a humble request for an apprenticeship under your guidance in traditional Japanese carpentry.
Japanese Carpentry is amazing and i find the beauty of the architecture unparalleled to anything else.
I have always been very inspired by Japanese art and craftsmanship, even since i was a little boy and started making bonsai.
I love the attention to every aspect of the craft. From the material, the tools and the techniques.
In my opinion it is very important to not only understand the materials that one is working with,
but also, to respect and honor them. To give them purpose and meaning.
It is hard to come by a culture with this respect and understanding of the wood and the philosophies surrounding it.
This is why i want to be a student in Japan. I feel like this is the only place i can learn woodworking the way i want.
I will do whatever it takes.
In the modern world, it seems like the direction that construction is taking is wrong.
This is why i think it is very important to bring back the ancient knowledge of Japanese architecture and carpentry.
This is a craft that has been tried and tested for millennia, and it would be loss for humanity if it was forgotten.
I think you might agree with me, that it is important to pass on the skills of Japanese architecture to future generations.
So i Hope you would pass these skills and knowledge down to me, from master to disciple.
If you choose so, I'm ready to devote myself absolutely in the 3 to 4 years of my education.
I hope you will take my request into consideration. thank you very much.
Sincerely
Simon
Is there a place in Tokyo/Osaka where I can go and buy Japanese woodworking Saws and tools? Kind of like a Japanese homedepot.
I hear about Japanese tools and technique on youtube every now and then, and there's a wikipedia article. Just wondering...
