I'm looking for a movie or an episode of a tv series, where the main plot is that a jack-in-the-box (with a clownlike figure in it) hunts and kills a group of people. I've seen it in german TV around 1990 (from the style it was an american movie). I think someone gets the puppet as a birthday present(could be wrong). I remember a scene when the group finds some older people they know sitting in a dim lit room, just to find they are dead or stuffed or something and the puppet pops out of its box in a dark corner and the group runs away. I'm pretty sure the jack had no helpers like other dolls or something.
I was 5 at the time and it traumatized me for years. I've never seen the ending and I'm still uncomfortable around clownlike dolls. I'm searching for this thing for many years now and without my mother assuring me that she had seen several moments of the movie before she switched it off, I would start to think I just imagined it.
