i scanned the previous posts in the sub & didnt get much info on Conestoga Valley School District. we're currently looking to buy in either manheim twp (good schools, close to downtown lancaster, & close to amtrak station - i still commute to philly) or just east in what would be considered conestoga valley school district.
we've had more success with homes fitting our preference in the conestoga school district, but haven't gotten any confirmation on how good the schools really are. it appears to be #121 in PA, whereas manheim is #61. conestoga has a pretty low college readiness score (seems to be an indicator referencing AP classes and exam scores), but still has solid math & reading proficiency rating.
i was hoping to get some first-hand experience on if it's really worth waiting on manheim or if conestoga offers similar to future prospects & im just overthinking all these rankings, etc. does anyone have insight into either districts & whether you'd adamantly recommend one over the other?

Hey everyone, posting about Mercer Island elections for those interested. We had a problem a few years ago with a city council candidate forging academic credentials. This time it's a school board guy running for re-election who has a past assault conviction and the school district's apparent inability to tell the public whether he concealed it on a background check. Everyone has to truthfully complete these checks to work with our kids.
We're having a heck of a time getting the word out because he's the establishment candidate and people friendly to him keep censoring the information on places like Nextdoor. Fortunately, I pre-cleared this one with the mods here.
Everything is public record, only facts, none of my opinion. The filing in its entirety is available online, case number 21-2-14140-1. - A man named Brian Upton was convicted of 3rd degree assault in the late 1990s. This resulted in a 9-month suspended prison sentence and 12 months of parole, as well as fines.
- RCW 43.43.830 requires a background check ("access to children or vulnerable persons") with a question (section 7) about "crime against children or other persons." This information is also sought in MISD's WSP Background Check form that everyone who works with the District must fill out truthfully.
- The District was made aware of this issue by multiple parties from October 16th until October 20th, asking if the man in the conviction is the same as current MISD Director Brian Upton, and if so, whether the conviction was disclosed as legally required on the form. The District has still not responded.
- On October 19th, 2021, Director Deborah Lurie, who is also running for re-election, defended the board, saying that "everything that the board does is done in public, so this whole concept of meeting in private and discussing things is just frankly an outright lie."

Are there any teachers here from the Victoria school district? I am curious how you got on with this district as I have applied (they have open TTOC pools) and have yet to hear back. I even emailed the hiring person(s) to check on the status of the application. Victoria seems very difficult to break into based on their requirements.
Similarly I have done this for Sooke, Saanich, Cowichan and a bunch of smaller schools. If anyone has suggestions on ways to break into the TTOC lists let me know.
Why are the school district boundaries in Columbus City Schools and the suburban districts so stupid? Why do all these non contiguous islands exist? What exactly is the Win-Win agreement that goes back decades? I'm from Indiana and just don't know the history, some in depth responses or links would be appreciated.
Question: Whether Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School District, which holds that public school officials may regulate speech that would materially and substantially disrupt the work and discipline of the school, applies to student speech that occurs off campus.
Layman’s Opinion: No, unless under direct supervision of a school official at the time of the speech. (I agreed with respondents view)
