A list of puns related to "International Bibliography Of The Social Sciences"
Hello, my name is Vinicius and im a social science student in UEL (State University of Londrina) from Brazil. I really want to make a project about the anti-vax movement and since i live in Brazil i don't have any source (books, articles, documentaries, etc) to study it.
Im here asking if you guys know some bibliography wich could help me.
Thanks guys.
Iβm getting really confused because the place my prof said to look through the library isnβt that straightforward, google isnβt that straightforward, nothing is straightforward yet writing annotated bibliographies seems straightforward.
Also itβs supposed to be Chicago style fit for social sciences, so it gets even more confusing because I donβt know what Chicago style for social sciences is supposed to look like.
Space experiments are obviously super expensive, and not without risk. But their purpose is to improve the knowledge of humanity. We could learn a lot about people that have provably wrong yet stubborn ideas. Psychologist could also document the behavior and beliefs of flat-earthers back on Earth in relation to what their most known supporter has to say about the view from space.
At worst this would make for great TV, which might offset the costs.
This idea was inspired by me watching the documentary "Behind The Curve". In it, flat-earthers run experiments to measure the curve of the Earth. They then measure the curve of the Earth, and refuse to accept the findings. Flat earthers are not necessarily crazy or stupid, they just have crazy and stupid beliefs that are quite stubborn. Sorry if this crazy idea has been posted before.
While on a road trip, I also visited the federally funded Creation Museum. It was amazing, if unsettling.
I did my IGCSEs and did pretty well, and got into these two programs. Im not sure what to pick and would love to hear a bit about the on campus student demographic, the general expectations of the schools, the culture of the schools and anything about quality of student life from a students perspective (if you dont go to either but know please share!! would be super helpful to get all the info i can :) ). i dont know anything about the general stereotypes or reputations of these schools but i would love to hear a bit so i choose with as much information as possible. thank you!! have a lovely day :)
a bit about me: i am half british and go back every year for a month or two and stay with family there so culture shock shouldnt be an issue. i studied in international school in Singapore which is where i did my IGCSEs. if you need any more info just let me know thank you!
Would stuff like research internships, publishing opeds with researchers, writing papers, working on projects at think tanks, working with professors, etc., sound as interesting?
Hi librarians! Iβm a faculty member at a two year college. We currently do not subscribe to the MLA database but it would be ideal if we did. Iβm preparing a pitch to my library staff for an MLA subscription for our college and need to know the subscription cost. I could go through the MLA contact page, but if any of you know the ballpark answer, that would save me the rigamarole. Thanks!
I've been wanting to get my PhD ever since I was in undergrad but I've hesitated to go for it because of the academic job market and because I've questioned if academia is the right space for me.
My dream would be to work as research staff at a university or maybe even a medical school (still looking into different research institutes associated with medical schools that focus on areas I'm interested in); however, I'm also really intrigued by the idea of traveling a lot for work. From what I've experienced thus far, I just enjoy the social science research process in general so I'd like to think I could be happy working on almost any project if it allows me to do some travel.
Not at all sure if this is viable. It might just be a stupid pipe dream, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. Thanks in advance for your input (:
I know that it has helped create a postcolonial lens through which to analyze these disciplines, but what does this lens entail/is it useful in you opinion? Also, non-poli sci people are free to chime in on how its affected your discipline as well
Newly admitted transfer student here. Can you recommend some good quality courses to take for Social Science/ Political Science/ IS?
I am from India, and I am new to Social Sciences so I don't really know the acceptance of this theory. I came across it while reading American news and got info about it from Wiki. Seems its a popular theory among some western Universities while conservatives oppose it vehemently.
The basic argument of CRT is, if I am not wrong, that color blind policies hurt people of color and therefore, policies should be targetted towards them, people should continue to differentiate between black and white people (rather than the concept of equality which says everyone should be treated equally), with black and other POCs getting more privileges to compensate their positions in society, counter 'white privilege' and as a kind of 'historical compensation' because modern white people's ancestors used to own black people's ancestors as slaves. Some CRT theorists, I saw on Wiki, say racism is permanent and all pervasive in countries like US and therefore black people should always be given these affirmative actions forever and ever.
Apparently, conservatives in US, UK, etc oppose this and consider it racist but most liberal western Universities like Harvard and Yale teaches them and has extended to schools. Saw some liberal thinkers criticizing CRT too but never saw any liberal/leftist/POC in the news or social media ever criticize it. It seems to be that CRT is widely accepted as true in Sociology and Pol Sci. Where else is it usually considered true? What about Anthropology and Economics, do they accept this theory? Also how widely accepted is it in reality? Do media do a fair job showing the widespread acceptance of CRT?
I (non-European) work full time outside of Europe. Iβm looking for an online MBA and saw this International University of Applied Sciences and they offer a 12-month online MBA but Iβd only be interested if the school is legitimate and its degrees respected.
Alternatively, are there other online programs I should consider.
Edit: thank you for all the responses. Based on all the suggestions, I donβt think this will be good pursuit. It was attractive though being 1/5 of the price of a different program I wanted to pursue with a UK university. The UK Universityβs Β£10,000 fee for an online degree was beyond me which is why I considered this as an alternative. Thank you for all your inputs and suggestions. Iβll keep searching or just wait until I can put the funds together. Itβs better to wait than to spend what is available on a degree that will not be of value.
I hate that someone thinks its ok to preach in a scientific international conference. It was on a special panel right at the end !
Nobody says anything because of PC culture. I hate the double standard, if it was a christian people would have criticized right away.
I quit the zoom as soon as I saw he was just preaching.
Sorry for the rant
Edit: sorry the title had a typo
