A list of puns related to "Internal Thoracic Artery"
Where/how do surgeons access this artery?
Curious if a thoracic spine MRI would pick up any issues outside of the spine itself. I had a lumbar MRI done and it saw my renal arteries so wanna know if thoracic is same in terms of seeing arteries?
Itβs affecting me negatively I canβt do anything Iβve tried to excercise it gets worse I canβt sleep at night with it Iβve been getting headaches recently and massive brain fog, I canβt even attempt to go to the hospital because they keep sending me back saying thereβs nothing wrong with me, my veins are bulging right now Iβm in so much pain and my parents are useless, they keep insisting itβs anxiety I really donβt know what to do Iβm down on my luck and I feel intense pressure from my collar bone and shoulder
I have a friend that doesnβt want her Reddit account linked to this question. She was trying to inject where her thigh meets pelvis but couldnβt register and gave up. This was 72 hrs ago. She now has a DARK magenta bruise the circumference of a softball at the site that continues to grow. She says it only started hurting this morning and that her entire leg feels cold. No drugs were actually injected since she couldnβt register.
She sent me pics and I can attest that itβs tripled in size in the past 48 hrs. I think she hit an artery and is having internal bleeding and should see a doctor. What do yβall say?
Like the title says, I received results from an angiogram today stating there was βprominent tortuosity of internal carotid arteries just below the base of the skull.β I have a MRI scheduled Thursday as well. Has anyone gotten similar results that can provide some insight or comforting words? I havenβt discussed this with my doctor yet but Iβm very worried about what this means and am kind of spiraling because Iβm so use to bad news medically. Anything you can share would be greatly appreciated.
I was discussing neck pain, symptoms, and potential causes with a few people on another post recently. Feel free to check my comments if youβre interested or want more details.
Hello!
I wasn't sure how to translate the title, sorry.
Current symptoms:
- left eye nystagmus
- tinnitus in my left ear
- high-frequency hearing loss in my left ear
Hearing in my left ear was always slightly off, probably because of that artery.
Things got worse after an ear infection. It caused sleep issues, brain fog, tinnitus, and worsened my hearing.
I'm ok now, my treatment is still in progress - turns out I have inflammation in my sinuses which might be the root cause of the infection.
Question:
Would there be any benefit of *fixing* that artery which I believe is putting some pressure on my hearing nerve? I guess it might not be worth taking the risk but I'm just worried if my hearing can get any worse because of it.
I will go to a laryngologist and neurologist, but maybe you guys have something to say about it.
PS. I take anti-bacterial antibiotics and use nose spray to reduce sinus inflammation.
PS. As I always suspected, tinnitus sucks, so I wish you all sufferers all the best, and let's hope we will get some good treatment in the next 10 years.
I donβt know if I am posting in the right community, I am new here.
I am a 20 year old female, 145 pounds, 5β7, white Caucasian.
In October 2019, I (20F) had a stroke. Doctors determined it was caused by a dissection of the left internal carotid artery, but they did not perform an echography to confirm; they determined it was a dissection based on an MRI and CT with contrast. According to the transcripts of the CTs and MRIs, I had an occlusion of my left internal carotid. When it happened, they gave me 3 aspirins to swallow and that was it. I was taking the contraceptive pill Marvelon when the dissection happened, but I stopped immediately after. I started taking a baby aspirin a day after my stroke (prescribed by the neurologist).
However, in December 2019, I had a huge headache, went to the hospital where I had a CT with contrast and an MRI and doctors discovered that my right internal carotid artery had dissected as well (or I had an occlusion at least). Fortunately, I did not have a stroke as doctors gave me 4 plavix pills. I then took a Plavix pill a day and a baby aspirin every day for 2 months. Then I resumed taking an aspirin a day and I still do. Doctors did not know what to tell me.
I do have chronic migraines and headaches since having my stroke, I have a bit of difficulty with my memory and I have a bit of brain fog. I also experience vision problems (tunnel vision and blurry spots) since my stroke. I consulted an ophthalmologist recently, but everything was fine so the conclusion was that it was ophthalmic migraines.
The doctors did not find any cause for the dissections. I did get a Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE) after my first dissection and everything was normal. I also got tested for epilepsy, everything was clear. I am otherwise really healthy, and I NEVER took recreational drugs and I drink alcohol occasionally. I do not do any yoga nor heaving lifting and I did not go to a chiropractor prior (I never have).
They did multiple tests and I had genetic testing done. The genetic testing revealed that I had a mutation on the FNLB gene and on the COL5A2 gene as well. Both are of unknown significance. Thus, the neurologists I consulted are unsure if I have the vascular type of Ehlers-Danlos, since there has been reports of people with only one mutation having the syndrome, but it is very unlikely (typically there is also a mutation on the COL3A1/COL3A2 gene I believe). I am quite flexible which has caused many injuries in my past
... keep reading on reddit β‘A morbid question, I know, but hey, I'm posting in the right place. The reason I ask is that there is a possibility I have a health condition that makes my arteries weaker than a normal persons's and therefore at risk of spontaneously rupturing. I'm understandably concerned about this, but above all I just want to have some sense of what, should that happen, it would feel like. How painful would it be likely to be? Would I feel the bleeding like someone had turned on a hose inside me? How bad a way is it to die, do you think, on a scale of one to ten? Honest answer only please, no sugarcoating. Thanks.
Background: 29 yr old woman with vEDS No major complications previously Its 11 mm fusiform aneurysm in the internal carotid, right below my ear. This was discovered 4 days ago after tingling in my jaw and lips, pulse thumping in my neck, and swelling under the chin. Surgeon said he would no operate and that I would need to see a specialist. I reached out to Dr. Shalhub and am waiting for her review. Slight pain, swelling, and discomfort in neck still. Will this go away?
I'm about to start undergoing treatment for an unruptured aneurysm on the anterior communicating artery. I met with a consultant yesterday and he said that the reason they are doing a cerebral angiogram next Friday is that I have no carotid artery on one side and they need more info.
What, in layman's terms, does this mean? Is this something I should be worried about, and will this complicate the coiling procedure in any way? Does this cause any symptoms, as the consultant ruled out some of the symptoms I'm experiencing being caused by the aneurysm.
Nursing student here, and I apologize if this breaks the rules, but I don't think it does.
We're learning in class about CABG surgery and one of the vessels that can be used for the graft is the internal mammary artery. It seems to be a favorable option because it is an artery and therefore remains patent longer, but it's classified as problematic for diabetics, as well as obese or large-breasted patients.
I looked around for answers but didn't really find one. Could someone tell me why the use of this artery is an issue with diabetics, versus the saphenous vein or radial artery?
