A list of puns related to "Industrial Action"
Seriously what's the point of "minimalism" gaining traction if the so called minimalists are still buying from plenty of unethical companies that extort resources from developing countries and are still participating as a consumer under developed society?
What's the point of vegans moaning on the internet that eating meat is unethical and bad for the enviroment when you're still buying your goddamn vegan shit from a mainstream retailer like Walmart, Target, Meijers, Krogers, etc when these companies still subsidize the agricultural industrial complex like crazy?
You can bike, you can recycle all you want, but if you're still buying new "stuff'', buying from Amazon, you're still using modern conveniences like electricity and the internet, and buying your vegan stuff from said supermarkets, then what is the GODDAMN POINT ? Fake ass feel good virtue signalling is just the point isn't it?
One degree rise in temperature since 1900 caused all the extreme fires in the western US, Greece, Australia and Russia and many more places. I never thought I'd see a temp of 121 degrees F. recorded in a place as far north as British Columbia but it happened this summer in the mega-heatwave the northwest experienced last July. And scientists are already saying there's no way to avoid at least another 1 degree rise in the coming years, but they're now talking of as much as 2.5 degree being a certainty. If 1 degree could cause this much havoc think of what another 2.5 degree C. rise would do. Scary stuff.
The DailyFail comments section on their article on our sub today today is proof enough that there is no shred of public opinion left in favour of doctors.
The comments section is full of people who think βjuniorβ doctors are unqualified and should be paid even lesser and have not worked at all for the last 2 years! It reminds me of an argument I once overheard about how the term βjuniorβ doctor for non-consultant grades itself is purposefully misleading and a disgrace.
Public already seems to think Junior doctors are working part time and making 85-100 k. So my question is if we do not call for an industrial action, which would also educate the public on what a junior doctor actually gets paid, arenβt we really enabling the public abuse against the profession? The boat of public opinion has floated away already. If they didnβt see the sacrifices we made during COVID they ainβt ever gonna see it at any other time.
Are we all really just closeted masochists ?
Tldr; we arenβt βjuniorβ doctors and I think we should force a change of this disgraceful terminology as a part of any industrial action.
I mean, I'm only going to miss one seminar because of it so I'm not fazed. But I imagine people with exams and the like may not feel the same way. I don't know much about it except from what our lecturers have told us, but yeah.
97% of members who participated voted YES.
Industrial action to start in the coming weeks. AEU Victoria will send an email on Friday.
Only union members can take protected industrial action so if you're not a member yet but want to be involved, join the union. You can always cancel your membership afterwards if money is an issue for you.

It's good to keep on top of any topical health-based news items, as interview questions can stem from them, and also shows that you are motivated in medicine as a vocation.
I will be posting some relevant articles, a summary of them and also some possible talking points as well to help everyone.
TLDR:
Thought provoking / Interview questions:
1) How many GPs are there in England?
A decent question as it really puts into perspective of what GPS do and what they offer the NHS.
There are more than 35,000 GPs in England. They see 90% of the consultations in the healthcare service for 10% of the budget.
2) What is the BMA?
The British Medical Association (BMA) is a trade union and professional association which represents doctors in England, Scotland and Wales - it also has members in Northern Ireland and British Overseas Territories.
There are other grass roots organisations out there that showcases doctors' viewpoints, but the BMA is the largest.
3) Is it professional for doctors to take industrial action?
No right or wrong answer. When responding take care to see/discuss both side of viewpoints. As a junior doctor with unsafe working hours (harm to future patients and also self) vs direct impact on patient care during strike itself.
4) What was the junior doctors' dispute in 2015-16?
Seriously what's the point of "minimalism" gaining traction if the so called minimalists are still buying from plenty of unethical companies that extort resources from developing countries and are still participating as a consumer under developed society?

Meanwhile, carbon tax and all these elite celebrities can throw away stuff without the blink of an eye and don't forget Bill Gates buying up all the farmland
So minimalism and veganism is only pushed onto the general population by the very same people who don't practice what they preach, amazing!
