A list of puns related to "Icefrog"
Dear Community.
Discussions on how to improve the dota scene haven been with the Dota community, for as long as I remember. I know that Valve has always been hard at work, to figure out the best way to engage with our community an it's growth, but trust me as a small tournament organizer, it's not as simple as you think.
Nonetheless! There may be a lot of things we disagree with, but one thing is for certain. Battle Cup has been one of the most fun features, that me a 28 year zoomer, playing dota for 10 years, been enjoying from the start. But just like many features you've implemented Battle Cup has been an abandoned idea, an idea that could and SHOULD be expanded as it's dota at it's true nature!
We talk about the growth of a competetive dota scene. But honestly maybe dota should be more about fun? And Battle Cup has often been just that! Maybe it's time to expand the idea? Maybe give some sort of a "Golden Ticket" to winners of a battle cup, allowing you to join a monthly/quarterly dota cup with prizes like exclusive dota 2 skins or chests? I remember how like 13-14 years ago, when I played League and participated in weekly ESL tournaments, it wasn't the cash prize I was the most intrested in, but an exclusive skin for one of the characters I played, and there were hundreds of teams participating! Leagues were being created a competition was fierce! And honestly, it was fun!
Please Valve, out of many features you have implemented over the many years on the market. Battle Cup has been one of the most fun ones. Maybe expand on the idea a little bit? I mean people have been complaining about Arcanas being hidden behind a paywall? Maybe it's time to earn these skins through just being good?
Reason: anti-synergy
His shard provides a dmg debuff to enemies effected by call, Blademail is a core item which has anti-synergy with the shard.
I have never seen anyone pick up the shard on Axe anyways, I really think it needs to be reworked.
Really, I'm constantly amazed by how much balance Icefrog and the devs can bring in the middle of this chaos to a level where in a single role one person can play more than 13 different heroes with all of them being viable enough to take you to the Grand Final
Before I could see how that change would kill the hero, but now he has Defense Matrix, which helps with the blink cancellation. I truly believe this change would push Tinker into a much better place for the health of the game.
I think Blast Rig is probably one of the most poorly designed neutrals to begin with, but it would be a lot better if you could easily see the affect trigger during fights. For such a highly impactful debuff, there should be more visual feedback so that you can tell if it's been triggered in a fight regardless of whether you were debuffed by it. If your BKB runs out and youre trying to jump someone with Blast Rig, being able to tell if one of your allies triggered its CD during the fight is crucial.
Is it possible that Icefrog is now mythology and representative of all the talented people who work on the patches, direction of the game, lore, etc. Many games have creative directors and game directors... what if it's not Icefrog anymore and hasn't been for some time?
I think it would be around 7k. He knows the deal but does not have the time to play it a lot, or do not want to, dunno.
Bless us with a huge new patch that has all of the community go wild! I want want 16 hour Purge Patch analysis before new DPC! That is all!
Thank you oh gracious winter toad
Marci had a telescope on her backpack so why don't we make use of it.
Aghanim scepter upgrades her E-Sidekick: when activated, her telescope gives her 2500 additional vision in a cone shape, she will whistle to notify her allies when observed an enemy and apply Sidekick on teammates in 1500 range. (The buff will not apply when she doesn't see any heroes in range)
Level 20 and 25 talents will make the scepter strong af (20% life steal at lv20 and 1.5s spell immunity at lv25). I Hope IceFrog considering this.
Who doesn't love a Lycan diving them under towers with 60 billion move speed and a bunch of summons that will kill you even if you disable him?
A hasted ancient creep with 2k+ hp, 250 dmg and 15 armor at 15 min? Seems balanced to me.
I am sick and tired getting collapse wannabe in my pub..
meaning one rune is the illusion rune and the other is a "decoy". This would be a cool, in world addition to the game that adds a little flavor to the different rune spawns. Maybe even have the "decoy" rune spawn a neutral illusion of the hero that picks it up which then attacks the player. makes going for a rune it a little more risky/exciting/unpredictable while still making sense in the game design
This is in the name of competitive balance and quality of gameplay for all Ability Draft players.
Let me take a moment to portray an all-too-common scenario:
Everyone loads. Upon loading you see your team has 4 melee and one ranged heroes, while the opposing team has 4 ranged and one melee hero.
Both teams draft, with no obviously busted Abilities/Combos in the pool, and the draft is pretty even.
The melee team's morale is already low because they know they will be fighting an uphill battle the entire game.
You do your best to be positive and make the correct plays, but your team gets stomped anyways due to the ranged vs melee hero disparity between teams.
All I'm asking is that if one team has 4 ranged and 1 melee, then the opposing team does too. Whatever the combination of ranged/melee is, the other team gets the same ratio.
This sounds fair to me in theory, but happily willing to hear the community's feedback on this idea as I have not seen anyone propose it.
Technically we released it a few years ago, but I think we never figured to share it here - :icefrog:
There's also an achievement of saving him and helping him find true love in case you're interested in having your Steam profile more (indirectly) dota-customized, although they're not that easy to get :D
I havent got any info about it. Does he play normally and if so what is his rank?
Its niche skillset would make a nice contribution to existing hero set (also make ulti global by default):
https://www.heroesofnewerth.com/heroes/view/187/Flux#hero
Q: deals magic dmg around the hero, slowing and applying debuff based on PUSH/PULL
W: Pushes/pulls the enemy, dealing attack damage
E: Changes PUSH/PULL
R: Global push/pull (force staff) + reveal
Upvote so Icefrog can see, thanks :)
All pros are just volunteers to succeed his throne. Who would be the best contender?
I think aui 2000 and synd would be up there
You've probably already seen the patch notes where the number of legs for certain heroes was changed e.g. here and here.
So, what is IceFrog planning as a new mechanic that will depend on it? Give me your creative ideas!
^((yeah, its probably nothing to do with it. but still a fun distraction while we wait for patch))
Think about it!! If new heroes were released without giving us an overwhelming reason to play it we would just stick to the comfortable stuff we know and the new heroβs move set wouldnβt be understood by the entire community. Getting stomped gets us to play and learn about new heroes immediately and then the skills can be balanced later. Is throwing off the game balance for a few weeks worth it if the entire player base gets up to speed with the new hero immediately upon release? It just might beπ€
A couple of years ago before covid, I had the idea of creating a video/thank you gift for Icefrog. I think it would be awesome if we put our heads together and make up something creative to show our collective gratitude to Icefrog for making such an awesome game for us, for basically 20 years now.
What do you say, /r/dota2, can you help me brainstorm some ideas, and in the next couple of weeks maybe we can put something together?
The main idea I had was to compile a video with 2-second clips of community members, redditors, pro players, and casters saying "thank you icefrog" or similar. It would be easy to edit, we can easily send this to his gmail and he is known to reply quickly in the past.
We respect his desire to stay anonymous but I still think it would be really nice to give him some sort of token of appreciation from the community.
Completely open to other suggestions as well.
