A list of puns related to "Herbert Westโreanimator"
After playing P1 I felt the urge to re-read Herbert West, Reanimator and other stuffs by H.P. Lovecraft and omg it's like reading Daniil's biography with a false name to protect him to be lynched by a raging mob. I can perfectly envision him as a small kid collecting bugs in jars with alcohol (not killing them before) and as a bigger brat doing experiments on roadkill found near home. Reading anatomy manuals and Latin grammars as a hobby during highschool and drawing sketches of roadkill memories in a secret journal. Doing good, old grave robbing in the beginning of medical school or bribing night guards of the university morgue to do long hours, perhaps absconding a bone or two from the box before the finals. In Thanatica, openly buying corpses and body parts from shady bootleggers and perhaps a little insurance fraud H.H. Holmes-style, secretly importing Traditional Chinese Medicine supplies and less describable substances to test on tissues and organs. Maybe a little Frankensteining, certainly observing patients agonize unassisted while furiously scribbling notes, possibly high on cocaine.
Can anyone else see that?
I've seen that certain versions of "Herbert West -- Reanimator", which was written in 1922, contain an epigraph from Dracula: "To be dead, to be truly dead, must be glorious. There are far worse things awaiting man than death."
Normal enough, except it's not from Bram Stoker's Dracula, and as far as I can tell, that line first appeared in the 1931 Todd Browning film, some nine years after "Reanimator" was first published. It's not in the original typescript of the story.
So I would be very interested in knowing when this epigraph was tacked onto "Reanimator," and if it was by Lovecraft himself, given his love/hate (mostly hate) relationship with Stoker's work. It's very interesting to consider that H.P. might have seen the Browning film and liked it, but I'm really ignorant of the story's publication history, and haven't been able to find much.
Something of an academic / pedantic question, I know, but it would be great to figure out.
Me and my girlfriend have been wanting to watch this movie for a long time, so much so that our halloween costume is based of it. I absolutely love the book too. However no streaming platform has it and I cannot seem to buy it on YouTube, amazon prime or in the apple store. Does anyone have an idea how to find it somewhere?
Sorry if this is not the right sub for it

Hi everyone, the admins have kindly given us permission to run an 'Ask Me Anything' about the first chapter of our new graphic novel series, Reanimator Incorporated.
I am the author and the artist is Lyndon White. Some blurbs and art work follow. We're nearly half way through our Kickstarter and have just released a hardback reward tier. It'd be great to hear any feedback or questions for both Lyndon or myself.
Thanks, Andy.
What is it?
Based on H.P. Lovecraftโs โHerbert West - Reanimatorโ, Reanimator Incorporated: Chapter One is a complete reimagining of the original story. Taking inspiration from Lovecraftโs original text, and from Gordonโs 80s movie adaptation, this 56-page graphic novel modernises Westโs machinations, whilst weaving literary mythology (Lovecraftian and beyond) into the tale. Think Reanimator meets From Beyond, with a splash of Danteโs Inferno, a dab of Kingโs Pet Semataryโฆ And then someโฆ
What's the story about?
Bloody-minded scientist Herbert West struggles to reanimate the dead, while his partner, Cain struggles with the morality of their morbid task. Under mounting pressure, Westโs determination to perfect his atomic reanimation unit leaves his ethics, subjects and family in limbo. As the boundaries of science are pushed to breaking point, ructions within the infernos of hell expose a much greater, theological threat.
