Skin allergy to gochugaru?
I just tried making kimchi for the first time. I used this recipe from Seonkyoung Longest https://seonkyounglongest.com/quick-kimchi/ in the video she mixes the kimchi and seasoning with her hands, which is what I did as well. I stirred for maybe 2 minutes tops and when I washed my hands there were patches of skin on the back of my hands that had become red and irritated. I washed them twice more and now I have an ice pack on the biggest areas. Has this ever happened to anyone else before?

Mildest gochuhang and gochugaru
Even when I buy the mild ones or the gochugaru for kimchi, it's often too hot for my kiddo. Can anyone recommend a really mild brand that is good for easing kids in?
I've stopped making a lot of Korean dishes that I love because it is too spicy for my daughter.

Half of gochugaru appears spoiled
The gochugaru at the bottom of my bottle has gotten compacted and has a white powdery appearance. Is this some kind of mildew? How did it get in the bottle from the bottom up? Is it salvageable, and is the clean-appearing gochugaru still good to use?

Adding gochugaru to baek kimchi after 1month???
Hello Kimchi hive mind.
I experimented in making white kimchi for days when I can't handle my spice. I made it alongside regular kimchi. I have since finished all my regular kimchi and it was at peak deliciousness, so I tried the white kimchi, and it turns out, i dont like it without the spice!!
Can I just add gochugaru to the white kimchi after a whole month of fermentation without it?! I don't want it to go to waste.

Are there different levels of heat for gochugaru?
Hey all,
I asked r/cooking for ways to make my Korean fried chicken extra spicy and they suggested adding a gochugaru to the gochujang sauce. However, I have gochugaru that is not that spicy and I just opened the container, so it's not old and flavorless. Is there a way to buy gochugaru that is extra spicy? Maybe specific brands? I got mine from H Mart and it doesn't specify how spicy it is.
