A list of puns related to "Giuseppe Meazza"
Hi,
I'm heading to Milano in March with 5 friends, and we are planning to go to the Inter - Sassuolo game.
From reading your very helpful guide on the Info section, it seems like a Tessere del Tifosi won't be needed for 6 UK nationals as long as we have our passports.
However I wanted to check if this was still correct as the posts were from 2 years ago - will we be OK or is it better for us to order Siamo Noi cards from the Inter website?
Also, when is it likely the fixture date and time will be confirmed? I note on the Inter website that all of February's games are subject to confirmation and tickets aren't yet on sale.
Finally, in terms of tickets where is best to purchase? Ideally looking for 6 in a row, in a decent location for atmosphere. Direct from Inter (obviously split between two of us due to the 4 per person limit) or are the reseller sites best for what I'm after?
Any help much appreciated - grazie!
Giuseppe Meazza was born in Milano, in August 1910.
Having lost his father in 1917 during the fighting of WW1 at the age of 7, Giuseppe grew up in Milan with his mother. He began playing football at 6 years old, but at the age of 14 he was rejected by AC Milan for his small physique. So, he joined Inter (at the time called Ambrosiana).
Meazza's nickname, "il Balilla" ("The Little Boy"), was given to him in 1927 by his older teammate Leopoldo Conti, who thought Giuseppe, who was only 17 when he joined the senior team, was too young to be part of it. However, Meazza later scored two goals on his official debut, leaving Conti speechless.
He helped Ambrosiana-Inter winning the first Serie A (current format) in 1929/30, scoring 31 goals in 34 matches, being also the topscorer of the league at the age of 19. An achievement that he reached again in 1935-36 (25 goals) and 1937-38 (20 goals, with Inter winning the league).
In 1940 he joined AC Milan, crying because he was forced to do so by the Inter's board (according to him). Sandro Mazzola, another famous Inter player, told a story taking place before a derby in the youth team with Giuseppe Meazza approaching the players to tell them after: <<In my life there is only a thing I regret, and it was accepting to join AC Milan. So now go, and destroy them!>>. Later he also joined Juventus, Varese, Atalanta and returned to play for Inter in the 1946/47 season.
At the end of his career he had 366 caps and 284 goals scored for Inter, making him Inter's best goalscorer of all time.
He made his debut with the Italian National Team at the age of 19, scoring twice in the match against Switzerland that ended 4-2 for his team. A few months later, on 11 May 1930, he scored a hat-trick in a 5–0 game as Italy beat Hungary for the first time ever while playing in Budapest. Meazza helped Italy win the Central European International Cup that year, a cup that was a three-year international tournament between the strongest national teams of central and eastern Europe.
He was part of the 1934 Italian team that partecipated to the World Cup, where he played all the matches. He scored against the USA in the first match and the decisive goal against Spain in the quarter finals. Even though he scored just two goals in the whole tournament, he won the Golden Ball, an award given to the best player of the competition.
In the 1938 World Cup hosted by France, Meazza captained Italy, again playing in every match
... keep reading on reddit ➡First, I understand he was Italy’s first footballing superstar and won two world cups. I understand he was born and raised in Milan and he may be Italy’s finest striker ever. However, he was an Inter player. He played for inter for 13 years. Yes he played two years for Milan, but that was during the war and those seasons don’t really count (not to me). So then why did we allow the San Siro (which my understanding is it was a Milan stadium before it was ever an inter stadium) to be named after Inter’s most famous player of all time in the 1980’s?
P.s. I’m genuinely curious and not trying to wind anyone up. Thanks.

BIO
Giuseppe Meazza, nicknamed Peppìn (and later on Balilla), is one of the greatest player of all time, a symbol for Inter, for the city of Milano and for Italy in general.
He was born in Milano in the popular working class neighborhood Porta Vittoria, and he started playing with other kids on the street, with a rag ball. His first amateur team, Gloria F.C., allowed him to make his official debut in a youth league organized by ULIC, a federation independent from FIGC that took care of many youth clubs from 1917 to 1927.
The legend says that AC Milan discarded Meazza when he was 13 years old because he was too skinny, a move that the Rossoneri would regret later on as Inter signed him for their Primavera team. Fulvio Bernardini, a scout for Inter, noticed Meazza and he convinced the Nerazzurri coach, Árpád Weisz, to promote him to the first squad. More on this period below.
While at Inter, Meazza also became the most iconic player of Italy's national team, winning two consecutive World Cup (1934 an 1938) and two International Cups (1930 and 1935) with the Azzurri (33 goals in 53 appearances).
After the glorious Inter (then called Ambrosiana) years and the triumphs with Italian national team, Peppìn's career started declining also due to some injuries. In a country torn apart by years of fascist dictatorship, WWII and civil war, Giuseppe Meazza was considered by everyone a national hero. Despite being a different player from his golden days, he managed to play for a few more seasons: two with AC Milan (then called Milano), one with Juventus (Juventus Cisitalia), one with Varese and one with Atalanta. He briefly returned to Inter as player-coach before concluding his career in 1947.
As a coach, after retirement he trained Pro Patria, and returned on various occasions to the Inter bench, as well as being in charge of the national team in the years 1952-53. Meazza was also the first Italian coach to coach a foreign team, Besiktas, for five months starting in January 1949. But the thing to which he dedicated himself most was to teach football to kids: he became responsible for youth teams and it was he who discovered Inter star Sandro Mazzola.
He died in 1979. The following year, San Siro stadium was dedicated to his memory.
... keep reading on reddit ➡I for one love Cassano. Obviously he has some major character flaws, but he's a hell of a chracter, he's Interista, and he'd surely put the 'Pazza' back into 'Pazza Inter'.
But with the problem's we've had with Osvaldo, replacing one bad apple with another may not get us where we need. However, it's clear we need a striker and Cassano's ability to create chances playing behind Icardi would be brilliant.
But remember, Cassano only left Inter because Mazzarri wanted nothing to do with him. I don't recall any major problems Cassano had under Stramaccioni or players on that Inter side.(JK..totally forgot about the Strama incident as noted by /u/axel_evans)
In my opinion the Curva would welcome him back with open arms as well.
It's obviously a long shot of Cassano returning, but I love the guy and would like to know your opinions on it.

I'll just start by saying that this post is not targeted towards Hakan or how he'd fair with Inter,
just that I, like many others, only recall players swapping the colors of Inter to wear a Milan shirt and then become famous footballers.
As this event is not as common as other transfers, I thought I'd break down those transfers, I'm not going back to the early days of both clubs as Inter was initially formed as a breakaway club from Milan football and cricket club (currently known as AC Milan)

Incidents of the sort soon became common. In 1937, it was the day of the game against Juventus in Milan with only an hour before the game and Meazza had still not shown up. The directors became nervous and sent a masseuse and another trainer in a car to find him. They found him in bed, sleeping profoundly and snoring. Without even washing his face, they dragged him up and rushed him to the stadium. While lying down in the back seat Meazza told them of love filled night and said he felt like a lion. The Lion Meazza entered the dressing room and without any squabbling, they quickly gave him his number 9 jersey. He scored two goals that game and was the best on the field. Inter won the game 2–1 and beat Juventus for the Serie A scudetto by two points.
