A list of puns related to "German Austria"
I understand each country has its own German dialects/accents. I would like to learn some of the language before I go, so which dialect should I opt for?
Getting worse.

This article charts a slightly new terrain, which is interesting and need be noted, in that it places the blame on some of Europe's "rising COVID problem" NOT entirely on one party or another, or some particular political position, but rather on: beliefs in homeopathy, alternative medicine, "a strong connection to nature," organic foods, Rudolf Steiner (Waldorf schools), and the perspective that the body is strong and can heal itself.
It blames the people Austria and Germany for holding these views, as Austria enters lockdown, worrying that parts of Italy that are adjacent (in Tyrol, far Northern area of Italy) will be next: https://www.politico.eu/article/italy-german-speaking-bolzano-south-tyrol-coronavirus-surge/
It's the first piece I recall seeing that "blames" proponents of "alternative medicine" for being anti-vaxxers, at least quite so overtly. It has a "those dirty hippies" vibe to it, which is the exact opposite of what we normally hear in the US, where it is "those dirty conservatives," for the most part. Also, being connected to nature is now being an anti-vaxxer? Wild.
> Experts have linked the rising infections in Bolzano to a cultural predisposition towards alternative medicine and strong connection to nature, as well as close links to neighboring Austria, where low vaccination penetration has emerged in areas where the political far right enjoys strong support.
AND
> Sociologist Oliver Nachtwey of Basel University, who is researching vaccine hesitancy in German-speaking areas of Europe, has identified a strong desire for holistic lifestyles, authenticity and self-realization in these areas, which sits uncomfortably with state vaccine mandates. He traces the cultural shift back to the 1968 movements, with expressions in Steiner schools, organic products and a growing faith in homeopathy.
Have committed to begin to learn German soon. In the future, I do plan on visiting German speaking regions and itβs to my understanding that German is also spoken in Austria and Switzerland as well. Now I know each region has itβs own distinct dialect, but how well understood will I be in Austria and Switzerland learning Standard German?
