I have to also note that I adore the aesthetic of CS 1.6, it feels so lonely, and absolutely surreal. It's the moment when you were 5 years old at your uncle's computer, or at the office with your mom, in a world that smelled of your old cat, his cat food, Russian carpet, construction work, strange paint smell in the air, the oddly satisfying smells of the early 2000s office spaces, unrelated to work, like just pure bliss, no obligations no nothing. Gladly I've never been in an office for any type of work, so I very vaguely have only great memories of it from childhood. It's this vibe of complete freedom, that allowed for zen focus, and immersion in these weird worlds. The dust, the aztec temples (SA1, CS1.6), the cs chateau, cs_office, the tropical vibes of ratchet up your arsenal + size matters, the fear of the monsters, and the seeming magnitude/depth/lore/life of those places. the blend of hi-tech, really cute aliens, ancient artefacts and all of the above. All that was also mixed in for me with games such as (PS2) BLACK, Burnout, NFSU2, (PC) Worms, Solitaire, Sonic Adventure, (PSP) Pirates of the Caribbean, R&C Size Matters, Loco Rocco, etc.
I've got terrible focus, and have a hard time playing a game without feeling like it's actively making me lose my job, and making me homeless. But shit, I really want to play a game, and I'm not even at the risk of any of that bullshit. Any tips on that?
I grew up hanging out with the kids in my neighborhood, and we were always thinking up new projects and adventures to do together. I want to do that again, and I think Generation Jones is the best generation to give it a try, because we all grew up with fewer rules and boundaries and less supervision and scheduling. We had to make our own fun. Anybody else want to brainstorm with me about how to begin making GJs a thing in your area? AARP just doesn't cut it for me, nor any of the existing kinds of social clubs that I'm aware of. First of all, meeting times are abolished. Sunday sometime, if you feel like it. My idea is to have a place, start slow and build up something slowly that becomes part of everyone's idea of a good time. I like cooking, music, and making the world a better place for the underdogs. I like learning and teaching. Gardening, woodworking, inventing, exploring, making extra money, and doing nothing together. Pretty much nothing. Is it just me, or does anyone else want to start their best years and show everybody else how it's done? We're an awesome generation, and I think we're late bloomers who are done being in the shadow of the boomers.

Someone told me about this today. Interesting article. https://www.considerable.com/life/people/generation-jones-group-boomers-gen-x/
Here's a link to get you there, feel free to post something relevant: https://www.reddit.com/r/GenerationJones/
Another Amy Heckerling work, this film seems to capture the early 80s high school experience pretty well. Supposed to cover the 1981-1982 school year (high schoolers being born 1964-1967), but the film came out in August, so I would think that film would mainly catch on the following school year (high schoolers being born 1965-1968).
Regardless do you see it as more of a Jones movie or early X like the Breakfast Club?
In honor of Barack Obamaβs 60th birthday, The Generations Institute commissioned a poll to help determine the former Presidentβs generational identity. Obama was born in 1961 β a birth year in a much debated generational gray zone. The traditionally-defined 1946-1964 birth years for the Baby Boom Generation are no longer accepted by many experts. The commonly used 1965-1980 Generation X birth years have become controversial as well. Many generational scholars increasingly argue there is a distinct generation in-between Boomers and Xβers, usually identified with the birth years 1954-1965 and called Generation Jones.
The Generations Institute βwhich studies all the living U.S. generations β decided to try to resolve the Obama question through a particularly reliable type of generational polling: self-identification. The poll was conducted July 12-19, 2021 with a nationally representative sample of 1250 Americans born in 1961. It asked: βDo you consider yourself to be a member of the Baby Boom Generation, Generation X, or the generation in-between (aka Generation Jones)?β The results showed Americans born in 1961 overwhelmingly feel in-between Boomers and Xers: 64% chose Generation Jones, while 19% chose Generation X, and 17% selected the Boomer Generation.
President Obama himself self-identifies with Generation Jones. He has stated: βI identify with this generation between the Baby Boomers and Generation X. My mother was a Baby Boomer, and Iβm part of Generation Jones.β
In addition to generational experts, many political commentators have also identified Obama as specifically part of Generation Jones including David Brooks (New York Times), Juan Williams (Fox News Channel), Karen Tumulty (Washington Post), and Clarence Page (Chicago Tribune) in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Ta_Du5K0jk
...and others in print, like the below examples:
Jonathan Alter in Newsweek: [https://www.newsweek.com/alter-twilight-baby-boom-93951] βSo itβs no surprise that Hillary Clinton (born 1947) would have a different generational identity from Barack Obama (born 1961). Late Boomers, dubbed βGeneration Jonesββ¦make up the largest share of the voter pieβ26 percentβ¦if we werenβt convincing flower childrenβ¦we werenβt part of Generation X either.β

... keep reading on reddit β‘Edit update: As of 06/19 with 263 votes in, 76% of those who voted are in the 1958-1965 range, which means at least 3/4ths are the target audience. If you include a couple years earlier, even more so, good! π. And a shout out to the younger folks who joined us here, bravo and thanks for being here!
Since one person posted telling Gen Jones graph trends, I thought I'd post a Poll to see where we are in the demographic. Man, we gained almost 500 members in the last 4 or 5 days! Unfortunately I have limited choices, and theres a method to my madness in the groupings. Feel free to participate!
We are technically called Boomers, but we are really a mini-generation in between the Boomers and Gen X. We don't have all that much in common with either the boomers or Gen X. We're the in-betweeners. Generation Jones
Before you downvote me to hell please listen. In my opinion generation Jones (1955-1965) needs to be shifted forward a few years to (1958-1968). A person born in 1955 had a completely different childhood growing up then someone born in the later years of generation jones they didnt have star wars as teens, the older generation jones weren't teens when the first cell network was launched in 1979. Moving on to Gen X I dont think they share much in common with Mid to late Gen X who spent their childhood listening to Grunge while Early Gen x was listening to bands like DIO and Survivor which were also popular with later Boomers.
Henry is afraid of rats, Indy is afraid of snakes and Mutt is afraid of scorpions (at least in Lego Indiana Jones 2)
I didn't expect to make another census poll so soon, but this sub-reddit has doubled its membership this past month! I was curious to see where we were. I made 1965 a new option since its included in Pontells ending definition.
I'm continually stunned that she continues to finds work. Once she left SNL, I assumed that would be the end of her career. But no... She gets cast in movies, hosts a game show, makes constant guest appearances, and continually gets the media to cover her.
I refuse to believe that people find her sassy character anything but incredibly annoying.
It's true we didn't grow up with computers, but we were young enough to get them in our early adulthood and really be in on the startup of personal computing. We may know a lot more than later generations about how computers actually do work.
A lot of talk and no action, thereβs a guy who clearly doesnβt want to fight the other (GSP/Adesanya) against a much bigger man who clearly welcomes the matchup due to their obvious advantage. The only different is social media making this fight a lot bigger than hype for GSP and Silva ever got
"Bob Jones is famous (or infamous) as an ultra-conservative white fundamentalist school. It has also been, for generations, an efficient machine for the mass-production of atheists. The fundamentalism it teaches is so rigid and brittle that it cannot bend, and when it breaks it often shatters completely. "
If you're not reading Fred Clark's Slacktivist blog, you should be. He's an evangelical Christian who is smart, well-read, accepting of a great many beliefs and creeds, and very, very anti-fundamentalist. We may disagree with his religious beliefs, but he has a lot to say about the far right, and none of it is nice.
He also has an epic deconstruction of the first two books of the Left Behind series (and most of the third, although he got stalled a while back), plus the movies. Essential reading.
None of the participants are acquainted with the arena the Laser Tag takes place in. Every successful hit immediately results in the individual being shot having an orgasm. Tong Po can dual wield and his guns have automatic fire, but need to recharge every 30 secs. 10 second recharge time. The others can only get one shot off at a time and their guns recharge after 5 shots 30 second recharge time. If facing more than two foes simultaneously- Tong Po can unleash a mega fart. This disables everyone in a 5 meter radius for 30 seconds to enable him to make his escape. He can do this 3 times. The overall contest goes for 20 mins. Who is victorious??
