Had my bonnet on (like I always do when I’m home) and my white neighbor asked me out of curiosity, what was on my head. I told her it was a bonnet and she snickered like it was this most funniest joke. I didn’t think it was funny. If anything? I thought it was pretty rude and I was quite annoyed. She probably didn’t understand it. But she didn’t bother to ask further either. 🙄 Aggravating.
Im a paeds nurse and was working on the covid ward. She saw a strand of my hair under my hijab (i dyed it blonde a couple days before) and told me not to cover it and just went for it. I had my hands full so I couldn’t stop her. And she did it in the anti room of the cubical where all of my colleagues saw. I think you could have heard a pin drop. And then she screamed “See!” And her son started crying. The funny thing is she is a die hard christian and was speaking about respecting religions but thought it was okay to do that. But yeah.

To the people asking what happened afterward and whether i reported her - so when it happened, i ran out of the anti room, set the tray of stuff i had aside i started to sort myself out at the nursing station. The woman just went back into her cubical. The way she pulled my scarf off she ripped my mask off too so i was scrambling for abit. Like why would you do that to someone when you and your child are covid positive?????? My colleagues asked me then and there if I wanted to report her and i said no just because i was in total and utter shock, so cripplingly embarrassed and traumatised really. They looked absolutely horrified and in my anxiety ridden brain I couldn’t understand whether they were horrified at me or the situation. I was just trying to downplay the whole thing and make it super casual but inside i just wanted to die really lol so yeah. The next day i asked not to look after them again and soon enough that lady and her child finished their isolation on the ward and were then transferred back to their regular haematology and oncology ward. But yeah :)

Time on a spaceship moved fast, at least it seemed that way, as the days flowed into each other without clearly defined borders. As their journey had been put on hold for the moment, days and weeks passed, and what should’ve been the date they would arrive at their destination came and went without anything changing about their status.
Behind the scenes, proceedings must’ve been running a mile a minute, with investigations and preparations all happening at the same time to get some clarity on the situation at hand. However, even though she had been very involved up to a point, as a non-military person with basically no clearance, Nia was now left in the dark about most things, only getting brief pointers at most whenever something new was discovered.
And since she couldn’t bare remaining idle, not only for worry about James but also because it would surely drive her crazy to just do nothing for a long amount of time, Nia had decided that she would use her unwilling vacation to make the stay on, and getting used to the human ship and customs for her offworld friends as welcoming as possible.
With a smile on her face, she busied herself by washing off vegetables in the kitchen, while behind her, one of the ship’s cooks worked on getting a meal ready for everybody that couldn’t eat the ship’s usual diet.
“You know, before all this, I would’ve thought that cooking for offworlders would be a fun challenge,” the man suddenly commented out of the blue, and Nia turned her head to look at him in surprise. “But this? This is so dull!”
He straightened himself up, putting down the cuts of meat he was working on for a moment to free his hands so he could gesture with his knife.
“Cuts of meat. Plain, not too well done. No sides, no spices, no condiments, nothing. Just cuts of meat,” he loudly lamented, while seemingly trying to slice up the air in his frustration, making Nia inadvertently take a step away from him, even though she already stood outside of his range of motion. “And on the other side, there’s greens. “Welcome to the guild, kid,” Dem said while patting me on the back.

Dem chuckled as patted my back a few times and opened the doors to the guild building. The building was befitting for a group of people that hunted monsters and did odd jobs and it was exactly how I expected it to be. The green wooden building was two stories high and was wider than it was longer. It took up a whole side of a street in Anderfield, not that it was much of a feat considering this was just a slightly larger town than normal.
Inside was an area with seating along with a reception counter that was manned by a young Human man in a lime green uniform. It smelt of alcohol but not the drinking kind. I was quite surprised to see that this place seemed very clean and well kept. The large room was devoid of people besides a handful of loners that were spread out amongst the corners of the room. Most of them had drinks in hand and some even had a meal to go with it.
“This is pretty much how every guild building is. Another tip for you, if you have serious business with the guild, always come at lunch. Everyone takes the freshly posted quests in the morning then they head out immediately so most aren’t back till the evening or even sundown,” Dem said while pointing at a large board next to the reception counter. “At branches like these official guild businesses like signing up stop at around sundown and they turn into more of an inn than an office. I can’t find the tweet anymore, but basically it had photos of idols in scarves and alluded to how Jihyo would knit scarves for her members, and how Kang Daniel was wearing a similar scarf. The person tweeting said something along the lines of, “I can’t say anything for now since I don’t want to trigger any fans, but I just noticed these similarly knitted scarves and I’m sure there’s a reason behind it.”
Once the dating news came out, people found the old tweet and began congratulating the person for being so observant and completely on-point with their prediction.

The little cafe Jessica had chosen for her afternoon date with Askel was just outside the purple zone in downtown Albuquerque. It served a variety of drinks for both Human and Shil’vati taste buds. Hopefully Askel could find something for a… what was it? A Helkam.
She had gotten there early and found a table for two near the window. Aside from a few humans picking up orders and a Shil’vati sitting in a corner who hadn’t looked up from her omnipad the entire time Jessica had been there, the place was pretty dead.
It was easy to identify her date when he walked past the window. Black motorcycle gear, heavy boots, and… and a pastel rainbow scarf and matching toque with a little puffball on top, leaving nothing but a strip of gray skin and giant green eyes exposed. Jessica couldn’t help a grin as she got up and waved him to the table.
“Askel!” She gestured to the chair across from him. “Sit down and I’ll get some drinks for us. What would you like?”
“A cappuccino with some cinnamon on top, if that’s okay.” He sounded incredibly nervous. It was adorable.
“One cinnamon cappuccino, coming up!” While Jessica ordered, she continued to watch the Helkam from the corner of her eye. He carefully unwrapped the scarf from around himself, folded it, and stuffed it in his jacket. The hat stayed on, and suddenly she regretted picking a table by the window. Spring or not, it was still only like forty degrees outside. While looking for a different table, she noticed the Shil’vati in the corner watching her. They locked eyes and Jessica received a small nod before they went back to the omnipad. That was certainly odd.
Returning to the table with their drinks, Jessica offered to move them to a different table, but Askel declined politely.
“I like being able to look out and watch the people. Besides, I’m nice and toasty regardless.” He patted his coat to illustrate the point.
“Speaking of being toasty, where did you get that hat and scarf? They’re cute.”
Askel flushed, his skin darkening to an almost charcoal color. “I got them from the gift shop.” It was only then that Jessica noticed the logo on his hat.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
