I just realized that one of my life’s mottos of “It’s better to underpromise and overdeliver instead of overpromising and undelivering” because it’s so common for me to forget to fulfill a promise that surprising people with nice gestures is basically my only way to survive.

I have no idea how I haven’t ever realized this before. I do this with my daughter, my wife, friends, students, basically everyone. I’m 37 and just realized this. Holidays suck because they come with expectations of behavior, but I love to just pop up with something nice when fancy strikes me. I never realized it was because I so fear getting distracted from my goal, and it’s such a normal occurrence, that it’s about the only way I CAN approach nice gestures. And people will hate you for not delivering but truly appreciate a surprise gesture.

I ordered a hoodie from GA in June but the package was lost and its sold out so i cant get another. My brother took his life last winter, and GA animals was our favorite band. So they put his motto “it’s all love” and a pineapple on a purple jacket, his favorite color. Best xmas gift ever.
