A list of puns related to "Fu River"
#1
Every day on the way home from
My office I pawn another
Of my Spring clothes. Every day
I come home from the river bank
Drunk. Everywhere I go, I owe
Money for wine. History
Records few men who lived to be
Seventy. I watch the yellow
Butterflies drink deep of the
Flowers, and the dragonflies
Dipping the surface of the
Water again and again.
I cry out to the Spring wind,
And the light and the passing hours.
We enjoy life such a little
While, why should men cross each other?
.
#2
Everywhere petals are flying
And Spring is fading. Ten thousand
Atoms of sorrow whirl away
In the wind. I will watch the last
Flowers as they fade, and ease
The pain in my heart with wine.
Two kingfishers mate and nest in
The ruined river pavilion.
Stone unicorns, male and female,
Guard the great tomb near the park.
After the laws of their being,
All creatures pursue happiness.
Why have I let an official
Career swerve me from my goal?
So I'm doing research on elephants used in warfare and I've come across two separate instances of resources mentioning that commanders in India used elephants to break river currents. Apparently, they would line up the elephants in a row, which slowed the water enough for people to cross. Annoyingly, the texts don't provide sources for their info.
So with that regard, r/History and r/India, can you help me? Does anybody know any specific instances -battles, on the way to battles, people who used the method, etc- of elephants being used to break water? Doesn't have to be in India, but apparently that's where the texts say it happened.
Additionally, I know that in 312 B.C., Perdiccas (general for Alexander the Great) used the same method to cross the Nile but that was a failure... anybody got anything?
One source that started my search: War Elephants by John M. Kistler and Richard Lair. There's a small paragraph that reads: >Later commanders in India, for instance, used elephants as breakwaters in rivers in a more methodical way. They made two strings of elephants: one group upstream to slow the water and another group connected by ropes, downstream, to catch any men or horses being washed away.
Edit: x-posting this to r/India - thanks for the help everyone!
Here's 29' 2 1/2 (Into Thin Air) for starters. If you already know these bands, feel free to drop me a suggestion in the comments. Always looking for a new addition to drop in my desert rock playlist.
As the title says, I've always wanted to see Jesus and Elvis kung fu fighting over a river of lava. The sky is red to match the lava flowing over the rocky ground. There are two mountains in the background. One is the volcano providing the river of lava. The other is just a bad ass rocky mountain.
Maybe there's some guitar amps and a a drum or two strewn about, but those things aren't necessary.
I don't know if you guys can help, but I'd really appreciate it if someone could bring this to fruition. In my mind, this looks like a heavy metal album cover, but I'm sure whatever you guys create would be far better.
Thanks!
Re-watching Shang-Chi recently made me really appreciate the filmโs use of Chinese (Mandarin). As an Asian-American / native Chinese speaker, itโs rare to find Western films that use spoken Chinese appropriately (oftentimes choosing to have characters just speak in English for the audienceโs convenience, even when it doesnโt makes sense in contextโIโm looking at you, Crazy Rich Asians) but Shang-Chi not only gets it right, but uses it beautifully to add depth to the characters, the relationships between them, and illustrate their internal journey through the film:

Previously I have posted a question asking if people like to know a little bit more about the Beijing Opera and have received positive feedback, and thatโs what I am writing for today. But first of all, I would like to say that I am not an expert in this, so please correct me if I am wrong about anything. I just happen to be someone who watches opera, plays Genshin, and knows English. I am aware of my limited knowledge and after deep consideration, I decided that I am not going to write an official and professional introduction. Instead, I am going to tell you what I know and what I like about it. I will briefly talk about The Divine Damsel of Devastation, the main character types in Chinese Opera, and then focus on Dan (women) in Beijing Opera, which is Yunjinโs character type as well as my favourite, and finally talk a little bit about other Chinese Opera. I will also link some opera videos that I like. I tried to find videos with English subtitles but some of them I canโt, sorry about that. You might see the same people in the different video though because they are opera actors/actresses that I really like haha. These videos are all short sections of opera. A full show usually lasts for hours, I wouldnโt recommend watching it at first since itโs too long.
Hope you like it!
*Please do not talk too much about Genshin under these opera videos and appreciate the performance. Thank you!
*Please note that when I wrote this I put the family name before the first name, just like what they do in Chinese.
After going through Shenheโs story, I decided to write something about it first. I donโt know the archetype of The Divine Damsel of Devastation, but Shenheโs story reminds me of an ancient Chinese poem.

Coming Home
By He Zhizhang
I left home young and not till old do I come back,
My accent is unchanged, my hair no longer black.
The children don't know me, whom I meet on the way,
"Where do you come from, reverend sir?" they smile and say.

Homesickness has always been a major topic in Chinese literature, from ancient times till now. A lot of people left their home for studying and working in the capital city, and they have neither telephone nor internet, thus it takes months for letters to arrive. They missed home so

PREFACE:
Okay so there is a ninja world with several nations, hidden leaf, hidden sand, hidden stone, hidden mist, hidden cloud, hidden waterfall, hidden grass, hidden frost, hidden steam, hidden river and like five others that are never mentioned. This is a place where people use hand signs (jutsus) to make stuff happen. This happens through chakra, which is basically anime magic. This is used in three forms, ninjutsu (wacky shit like summoning animals and lighting people on fire), genjutsu (mental spells kinda), and Taijutsu (kung fu lmao).
Some people have a โkekkai genkaiโ which is like something only they can do or their family/clan can do, for example, the Uchihas have the sharingan, the Hyugas have byakugan, Kimimaro has bone release, Deidara has explosion release, etc.
Chakra was created by an alien called Kaguya Otsutsuki, and her kids, hagoromo (sage of six paths) and hamura created very cool and dangerous things. Hagoromo created the nine tailed beasts, who are capable of destroying mountains with an energy burst known as a tail bomb, and having a very large amount of chakra. The weakest tailed beast is the one tails, and the strongest is the nine tails. When a tailed beast is set loose, they are often so strong that the only way they can be stopped is to seal them away inside a human being, who are thereafter called jinchuriki. Some jinchuriki can control their tailed beastโs chakra and others cannot. Hamura created kekkai genkai, also very powerful.
Hagoromo's sons, Indra and Ashura have been reincarnated across the years, with Indra finding power through Visual Jutsu (DouJutsu, a form of Kekkai Genkai, which includes Rinnegan, Byakugan, Sharingan.) and Ashura finding power through other means. The pair have been reincarnated many times across the show, with an example being Madara Uchiha being an incarnate of Indra, and Hashirama Senju being an incarnate of Ashura.
Each village has kages, or kings kinda, with the hidden leaf = Hokage, hidden sand = Kazekage, hidden stone = Tsuchikage, hidden cloud = Raikage, hidden mist = Mizukage. There are also other ranks of ninja, from worst to best going: student, genin, chunin, jonin, sannin, Kage.
ARC 1: LAND OF WAVES:
The fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze and his wife Kushina Uzumaki are expecting a child, who they will name Naruto Uzumaki. Unfortunately, on the day Naruto is born, the nine tails, the strongest tailed beast, attacks the leaf village, and Minato seals

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Hi great beer hivemind!
I'm a Dutch guy that loves cycling and German beer. This summer (if restrictions allow) I want to do a long distance bicycle tour through Germany and I'm hoping to string together some iconic beer places while seeing pretty scenery. This is a call on your beer and geographic knowledge.
I did some Google-fu but it's quite hard to find articles that go beyond the ussual suspects. This is roughly my plan:
Start: West Germany (this is where I'll enter Germany from the Netherlands)
These are all relatively close together - any recommendations for breweries/scenery/bars?
Another two regions I want to visit (for obvious reasons) are Bavaria and Franconia. My reasoning that it's easiest to make my way south to first hit Munich and then work my way up north again.
My current thinking is to follow the rhine river down south (perhaps enjoy some wine) until I hit the black forest (Rothaus) then head east towards Munich. Are there any places I need to visit on the way? Perhaps consider a detour for beer / scenery?
Southern Germany (Bavaria)
Obviously there are a lot of nice beers to be had in Bavaria: Helles, schwarzbier, weizen. Munich has some iconic breweries but any insights are welcome. Perhaps some lesser know or absolute beer gems?
Next I want to make my way up to Bamberg to get some delicious rauchbier. Are there any stops that I need to consider between Munich and Bamberg? Is it worh making a detour to Kloster Mallersdorf?
I want to spend some time in Bamberg but after that I have my eyes set on Berlin.
East Germany (Berlin)
The idea is to bike from Bamberg to Berlin. A must is to make a stop in Leizpig's Gosenschenke Ohne Bedenken for some Gรถse. Is there anything in between that is worth visiting?
I even play with the idea to make a detour through Chzechia and visit Pilsner. I'm not very familiar with the eastern part of Germany in terms of scenery and/or beer culture. Any guidance here would be awesome. I also learned recently of Kottbusser bier - is this something I would find in Cottbuss still?
In Berlin I'd like to drink some Berliner Weisse (I want to visit Schneeule) but I'm also curious if there are some lesser known beers I should chase.
Central or Northern Germany (from Berlin towards the west )
I'm a bit in doubt if I should just head straigh west towards the Netherlands (perhaps through Goslar for some
