I've used my gripper push block countless times but never for a cut like this. Even with a riving knife, wouldn't that bottom plate flush on the saw deck be hazardous because it's potentially pushing that cut off piece in towards the blade?

I’ve been trying forever to get my BRTs flush on the deck, but I’ve never really been able to do it. I was thinking it might be because of the pivot cups, but I don’t know. Also, the screws are not going straight into the board. Anyone know how to fix these issues? reddit.com/gallery/ptgr9e

I’m going to build a deck flush against my backyard door - please tell me I’m doing this right!

There’s a protruding concrete sill on my backyard door and I’m going to put the rim joist flush against it. My only concern is wood rot since the concrete and wood are in direct contact. To combat that, I’m thinking of putting a sill gasket. Am I doing this right? Is there anything else I need to look after??

Flush deck vs. hump

Hi, all. I need some help. I don't understand why sailboat have a hump on the deck instead of being flush. I've seen only a few flush deck sailboats, and I think they are very pretty. Nearly all the sailboats have that hump down the center. I understand the hump is to provide headroom below deck. Let's say the hump is 18" high...why not just make the entire deck 18" higher? It seems like it would provide more room down below and possibly offer more opportunities for storage. I'm sure there is a logical reason for a hump over a flush deck. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Leveling a patio to flush mounted deck

Installing deck flush mounted to covered patio.

https://imgur.com/a/oa2dqv7

Patio is not level. 2” too low in one corner furthest from house. I suspect when they built it they put a slope to it thinking it would be exposed to rain. However it’s covered and never gets wet.

Which method should I use to bring it to level?

Flushed a driver off the deck yesterday β€” one of the most gratifying shots I’ve ever hit

I haven’t hit a driver off the deck in almost 20 years when I used to carry a 975D, and I wouldn’t ordinarily recommend it. However, I had about 250 to the green on a par 5, and I had to keep it under some trees 30 yards ahead.

I drew an absolutely perfect lie in the rough, and it was the best option to keep the ball under the trees ahead. The thing never got more than 5 feet off the ground, but it chased about 230 yards up the fairway. Can’t lie, it felt better than sex.
