I really love Filia, so I decided to (try to) make a subreddit for her.
(Note: I literally just made it right now and I'm kind of still working on it)
So the matchups I have are Oleander, Gwenom, Crona, Shantae, Venom, Tokoyami, Shinichi and Millia. Time to rank...
Venom. Connections are fine to an extent, but Venom giga stomps and the othet matchups have better connections/potential.
Gwenom. Same as Venom, just with the slight edge that they're both preppy high school girls infected by the parasite.
Crona. The connections are all well and good. Meek and demure teenagers stuck with aggressive and brash parasites that tend to pick on them. Two things keep it low for me though. One, Crona already got in, and I generally prefer newcomers over old faces. Two, it's such a massive stomp that it kinda bums me out, lol
Shantae. The connections are indie girls with hair powers. That's it. Hell, Shantae's hair is only used in her most basic attack. The connections are so very weak. But hey... At the very least, One Minute Melee has shown that their abilities mesh surprisingly well and could lead to a fun fight. Plus it gets two characters i adore in the show lol
Tokoyami. So the connections are teenagers with dark companions that fight by their side. Okay, fine... But the issue I have is that Samson and Dark Shadow are so fundamentally different from each other. Samson fused with Filia in her teen years to save her life, Dark Shadow manifested naturally. Samson is a ball of hair that morphs and transforms into various weapons and blades, Dark Shadow is a shadow that relies on traditional shadow based attacks. Samson is very prominent character with a clearly defined personality that always has something to say when Filia is involved, Dark Shadow more or less just fades into the background unless he's in use. It isn't a bad matchup, it's just that Filia has others that have much tighter connections.
Millia Rage. Like Shantae, the only real connection is hair powers. However, unlike Shantae and Tokoyami, I feel that this one connection is good enough to warrant the matchup. This is because unlike Shantae, who only uses her hair in one of her many attacks, Millia's hair defines her entire movepool. Just like Samson, she morphs, hardens and sharpens her hair into various shapes and weapons to attack. This matchup is akin to the likes of Goro vs Machamp: one simple connection that just sort of works well enough to make a good fight animation.

Filia would have a weight of 100, have the same walk speed as Byleth and same run speed as Sora along with his height of the first jump, have a midair jump that has the height as that of Steveβs ground jump, and have Mii Gunnerβs air speed. Her stage entrance animation will be her medium move intro, where she bows before Samson comes out.
Now how about we discuss the gimmicks eh? First one is the usual fighting game attributes, which are 1 on 1 facing, input moves, button holding, and canceling normals into special moves, along with normals into other normals assuming thatβs a gimmick that Ryu, Ken, Terry, and Kazuya have. Second is dashing, which replaces forward and back dodges, but is also done before Filia runs. Third is the unique air grab, which is the one where Samson flings the opponent downward and does 14%, 7 per hit. Fourth are input final smashes, and Iβll get to those later.
Jab is the low punch, a short ranged move that can chain into itself for one extra hit, totaling up to a total 5%. First hit does 3%, has 5 frames of start up, is active for 3 frames, and has 14 frames of endlag, meanwhile the second hit is very similar, only it does 1 less percent, has one more start up frame, and two more frames of endlag. Up tilt is gunna be odd since Iβm using something specific for up smash since thereβs not that much other options, but it will use a hair flip similar to crouching medium punch, doing 6% and sending the opponent up a little. Not exactly sure how frame data would be, but it would be similar to crouching medium punch. Speaking of medium punch, forward tilt is the standing version, doing 10% and being able to confirm into other moves. 13 frames of startup, is active for 3 frames, and has 19 frames of endlag. Down tilt is crouching low kick, a very quick move that does 2% and can be used to start combos. Has 7 frames of startup, is active for 3 frames, and has 10 frames of endlag. Dash attack is the standing high kick, doing 19%, good knockback, and also has a unique property where if a opponent hit by it hits a wall while being launched they cannot tech at all and are forced to bounce off it, along with the bounce off distance being increased by quite a bit. Has 19 frames of startup, is active for 9 frames, and has 26 frames of endlag. Remember how I was talking about up smash earlier? Well now Iβm getting to it, which shall be standing high punch.
