My and my SO are getting our flat soon, and recently i found out she wants to consult a fungshui master when planning the layout around the house. Im not a fan of the idea since i dont believe in this mysticism stuff and its extra cost we dont need. But she says that fengshui is not all mysticism and there are practical considerations involved, like room "flow" and all that.
I think its all a load of crock but im interested to know what SG'reans think. How much does getting a master cost? Do you perceive any benefit after consulting one? Why not just get ID to do layout?

I'm looking for a fun and easy to read book on fengshui, maybe with some infographics or illustrations for my grandma. She is old and has no hobbies other than moving things around her house all the time. I'm hoping a fengshui book might give her something enjoyable to do / learn about, and be relevant to her interior decorating interests.

I recently got together with my boyfriend and we are both really serious about each other. We have both brought each other back to meet the families that things were going well at the beginning.
It was until my parents started to feel that I am settling and i can do better, and they started nitpicking on him and everything he did/did not to. They told me to see a fengshui master to find out if we are compatible but I declined because i don't believe in fengshui and i know that it will be catastrophic if the fengshui master said we aren't compatible and i know how obsessed my parents are with it. But they still went ahead to see the fengshui master behind my back anyway and surprise surprise, the master said we aren't compatible. They started having serious talks with me about how they don't approve and kept telling me sisters about their disapproval. I get that they are just trying to look out for me but it is really getting very suffocating and pressurising. I really love my boyfriend alot and even though i don't feel that close with my parents, I would want them to accept him. But i don't get how they are hinging my life's happiness one 1 person's statement, and believe him so whole heartedly. It's ridiculous. This really hurts me alot because they only want what they want, and they have never considered what i feel and what i want. I have since told them to stop these talks because it is causing me alot of stress. Their constant stress on me has always made me feel like killing myself because i feel trapped and i can't see a future for myself.
I've talked about this with my boyfriend and i've decided to stay keep things status quo. If i get into a cold war with them or distance myself away they will pin the blame on my boyfriend for driving a wedge between us and that's the worst that can happen now. I'll just keep staying with my boyfriend and i hope that one that they will realise that he's gonna stay for good and will start to accept him. Moving out isn't an option unfortunately, even though i badly want to. My mental health has always been bad throughout the years because of their toxicity, but that story is for another post. I wish things will get better soon ):
