Our dog walker of many years is hanging up the leash and going back to school. Awesome for her, sad for us. We'd like to wish her well with a small gift. Unfortunately we are terribly uncreative so besides cash or wine, drawing blanks. Any suggestions?

Yesterday, I was at the Beattie's pet hospital and just saw some lovely people doing the most difficult kindness for their elderly dog friend. It was evident they were saying goodbye to their old friend in the rain, and it was made harder because only one person was allowed in to be with the dog. If you're in this group, I just want to say...
I averted my eyes and shut the car windows, and asked my partner to direct his attention to his phone, then did so myself, in hopes it would give a slight bit more privacy, but I couldn't help but see more than I would have preferred.

Kabang was known for his heroic deeds way back 2012 when he tried to save two children from being hit by a tricycle in Zamboanga City.
The story of this hero dog reached the corners of the world. Kabang's story went viral and got promoted by the netizens across the globe to raise funds to help her recover and be treated in the United States.
According to Kabang's veterinarian, Dr. Anton Lim, "I found her lying motionless near her bed tonight. I last saw her very alive at 3 pm when I fed her and changed her water. When I went to her enclosed play area to feed her at 7 pm, she was dead, probably for 1-2 hours already. I knew she was out playing with the other dogs as always because of her usual soiled feet," (May 17, 2021) he posted.
The hero dog died at around 5-6pm on May 17,2021
Kabang was proclaimed "ambassador of dogwill", making her the official symbol of responsible pet ownership and advocacy against animal cruelty.
She was also named the hero dog of Zamboanga City.
Dr. Lim considered the fact that Kabang may have died due to old age. He would have been at around age 91 if considered in human years.
"Thank you Kabang for the 8 years of unconditional love, loyalty and joy you brought to our family. Thank you for the life lessons and the inspiration you gave to the world. We will miss you. Hope to see you again. Rest in peace Kabang." He quoted.
Despite all the circumstances we're under, with all the world's noise deafening our ears, it is indeed hard for us to look at the brighter perspective of life, of the world itself. Although this may seem rather minor and or irrelevant, it is still a good source of hope where we look back on the days where we used to be so rekindled, safe, carefree and overall joyful. Kabang reminded me of the best days I had in my entire life. When humanity failed, dogs were there.
