A list of puns related to "Ertms"
Is it going to replace the TPWS/ATP in all the lines or just for the HS2?
I can not pair my xbox one S wireless controller and searching I found this solution:
https://www.reddit.com/r/RetroPie/comments/aakkop/xbox_one_s_controller_disable_ertm_persist_on/
But putty doesn't recognize "sudo". In fact, I am already logged as "root".
But when trying to save bluetooth.conf , it says:
[Error writing /etc/modprobe.d/bluetooth.conf: Read-only file system]
If I try chmod -w /etc/modprobe.d/bluetooth.conf it says:
chmod -w /etc/modprobe.d/bluetooth.conf: Ready-only file system.
How can I solve it?
Thanks.
Hi peeps, first post on here after getting my Pi yesterday.
So, Xbox One S controllers eh, who knew they would be so much trouble? I've been tearing my hair out since yesterday, but found a solution to my issue, so hopefully someone else will find this post helpful!
It's been well documented that in order to pair or connect a modern Xbox One S controller (bluetooth) you have to disable the ertm option, and I'd had success when running this from the command line after boot up...
sudo bash -c 'echo 1 > /sys/module/bluetooth/parameters/disable_ertm'
cat /sys/module/bluetooth/parameters/disable_ertm
(the second command will return 'Y' when ertm is disabled, and 'N' when still enabled)
However I could not get it to persist using the suggested method i.e. adding it to /opt/retropie/configs/all/autostart.sh directly before the 'emulationstation #auto' line, so I would have to log in with puTTY and run the command manually every single time I wanted to use the Xbox controller! (super annoying).
So, happily I finally found another way to disable ertm for bluetooth.
Create a new file using nano...
sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/bluetooth.conf
Add a single line to the new file...
options bluetooth disable\_ertm=Y
Exit nano, saving the file in the process.
For reference, I'm using the latest release of Raspbian Stretch and RetroPie at time of going to press (December 2018), on a Pi 3 Model B+.
Hello Guys,
so today I received my first Pi 3+ and installed the latest Raspbian Stretch. I would like to use my XBOX One Controller via Bluetooth so I followed this article...
https://www.thegeekpub.com/16265/using-xbox-one-controllers-on-a-raspberry-pi/
but as soon as I try to disable ERTM by entering ...
sudo bash -c echo 1 > /sys/module/bluetooth/parameters/disable_ertm
I receive permission denied
I am completly new to Linux so please bare with me :)
edit: corrected the command according to /u/perfect_attendance. Result: problem still occurs.
I've been working on getting my raspberry pi to boot into retropie with ertm for the purpose of using a xbox one x controller with it via bluetooth.
I have retropie installed over a full installation of raspbian jessie.
I've made the following change to /opt/retropie/configs/all/autostart.sh in accordance with this guide: > sudo bash -c 'echo 1 > /sys/module/bluetooth/parameters/disable_ertm'
> emulationstation #auto
The file /etc/profile has been modified so as to boot straight into emulationstation, in accordance with a comment in this thread:
> #added at end
> [ -n "${SSH_CONNECTION}" ] || emulationstation
However, when I boot up the system it fails to properly connect to the xbox controller, and checking on the parameter /sys/module/bluetooth/parameters/disable_ertm shows that it is set equal to N, rather than Y as it should be.
I believe this indicates that autostart.sh is not being properly run, if at all. Would anyone be able to offer assistance/guidance?
Much thanks for any help!
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
They have the law still on the books saying that a lot of the old units apply "If legal in a member state in 1973" and some with phase out dates, which I think were the dates that the UK had all the friction about the old units going away, in 2000 etc. But with the UK gone, how long til someone looks over those laws and tidies them up?
In Belgium, not a single steam train is allowed to drive on the mainline due to absence of the safety system. There is no emergency brake system on board and it's impossible to install it.
Doesn't the USA have safety standards and a set of rules that define the safety rules for the minimum requirements to operate a train?
To go more in depth: ERTMS/ETCS has to be installed to be able to operate on the Belgian railnetwork from 2023. Steam trains don't need a deadmans pedal because there is always a second person to take over the controls. But still: there is no communication between the train and the signalling. So it is perfectly possible to cross a red light. Crossing a red light is the worst case in railroading and must be avoided at all costs. That's why more and more systems go towards the bi-directional communication: information about the trains speed is being calculated into the braking curve and this can be perfectly calculated to stop in from of a red signal. Even when the driver is dead (automatic emergency brake) On steam trains: there is no computer present. So you can't even start begin to calculate the braking curve.
So again my question, doesn't the USA have safety standards?

I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!
Don't you know a good pun is its own reword?

Heard they've been doing some shady business.

Edit: Thank you guys for the awards, they're much nicer than the cardboard sleeve I've been using and reassures me that my jokes aren't stale
Edit 2: I have already been made aware that Men In Black 3 has told a version of this joke before. If the joke is not new to you, please enjoy any of the single origin puns in the comments

The method for disabling ERTM has changed since the latest version of Raspbian Stretch.
