A list of puns related to "Environmental Change"
Hi Reddit!
I'm a Senior Fellow of the Woods Institute for the Environment and of the Precourt Institute for Energy. I have published three textbooks and over 160 peer-reviewed journal articles.
I've also served on an advisory committee to the U.S. Secretary of Energy and cofounded The Solutions Project. My research formed the scientific basis of the Green New Deal and has resulted in laws to transition electricity to 100% renewables in numerous cities, states, and countries. Before that, I found that black carbon may be the second-leading cause of global warming after CO2. I am here to discuss these and other topics covered in my new book, "100% Clean, Renewable Energy and Storage for Everything," published by Cambridge University Press.

I'll be here, from 12-2 PM PDT / 3-5 PM EDT (19-21 UT) on March 18th, Ask Me Anything!

Translated from this german article from the Tagesspiegel via DeepL:
Title: "Germany misses climate protection targets" - Tesla writes fire letter after problems surrounding Gigafactory in GrΓΌnheide.
Abstract: Elon Musk's company is calling for priority approval for energy transition projects in Germany. Also because of bad experiences with the Gigafactory. By Thorsten Metzner .
Six months before the federal election, the Tesla Group led by Elon Musk is calling for a fundamental reform of the licensing law in Germany - with priority given to sustainable energy transition projects. This is the conclusion of an incendiary letter from Tesla, which is available to this newspaper, and which is also justified by the concrete experiences with the Gigafactory for Berlin-Brandenburg (GFBB) in GrΓΌnheide, Brandenburg, which was launched in November 2019 and has not yet been approved.
The plant is actually scheduled to start production in July 2021. "Tesla Brandenburg has experienced first-hand that obstacles in German licensing law slow down the necessary industrial transformation and thus the transport and energy turnaround," the official letter says. State and federal politicians had promised all possible support for the Gigafactory. Nevertheless, according to research by this newspaper, the planned start of production is in danger, also because the main permit is still open.
Tesla's 10-page letter, dated 7 April, refers to the Federal Republic's ambitious and stated climate protection goals and the Paris Climate Agreement signed by Germany: "In striking contrast, however, the German approval and planning processes date from a time when these concerns seemed less urgent," the letter says.
"The result is that the approval process for what is in the end an environmentally friendly project is still the same as for a coal-fired power plant." The process would take too long, "it is very difficult to make changes even if they are positive overall, "and the process is fraught with legal risks at every step."
The conclusion: "This discourages necessary investments in

I'm 27 and I have a relatively mundane (but stable) office job in the UK working at a basic level with data and excel. I've never really known what I want to do for a career but enjoy working with more complex problems and data analysis than is required in this job and one of my few passions is wildlife from growing up in the country.
I've looked into potential careers based around those two things and most seem to ask for degrees etc. that I don't have, as I skipped university and went straight into work (which also means I have much less understanding of university level work and qualifications in general).
Is it realistic to make that change through distance learning, online courses etc. while still working full time? Where would be a good place to start and what kind of route would be advised to take?
Hi, my leo (about 5 years old and male) out of nowhere has started acting really paranoid and randomly sprints around his tank in a panicked way. Heβs never displayed this kind of behaviour before and usually loves to chill upfront in the middle of the tank and is fine with me going near him but now heβs staying at the very back constantly. He seems to be eating perfectly fine and is active and if it helps heβs on repti carpet (which heβs never had problems with but i might switch to lino) and his temps are fine as far as Iβm aware. If anyone has any advice thatβd be great thanks.
I'm not saying working out the details of climate change isn't important but there is so much, readily apparent environmental destruction happening all around us. Climate change is pretty murky when you get past the "humans bad, society bad" side of it, and unqualified people spend way more time trying to wade through it than to just solve a simpler problem that is destroying some ecosystem faster. This includes:
microplastic concentration in waters and soils
Eutrophication of water ways
Invasive species management
Habitat diversity loss
Heavy metal deposition on topsoil
And many more
Hi everyone! I've come to terms that a career in wildlife biology isn't a possibility for me so I'm looking for a career change. Another interest of mine has always been lab work, forensics, and criminal investigations. I studied biology as an undergraduate and got a certificate in GIS. I then went to do my M.S in environmental science. I'm currently 27 and a high school science teacher. Is it too late for a career change for me and how would I go about to enter this career?
