A list of puns related to "Eating Animals"
Recently my daughter (3 and a half) has been figuring out that the chickens that live on farms and the chicken nuggets she eats are related. I figured this was a normal progression of events. I was slightly worried she might get upset at the prospects of eating animals. Fortunately she didn't bat an eye and is now suggesting we eat pikachu... how worried do I need to be?
I feel bad for all the good vegans out there who are vegans for a cause and don't put others down because the bad ones give the entire group a terrible rep.
Respect each other's food choices whether they are vegan, vegetarian, pescetarian, omnivores, carnivores, photosynthesizing(you get the idea)
Edit**** Respect people's food choices regardless of if you agree with them or not.
You don't know why people chose their diets.

Sometimes Iβll be sitting around eating, idk, a tuna sandwhich and then Iβll get all aware. It becomes hard to swallow after that. Am I alone in this? Iβve tried being vegetarian, it was hard and I only experience this rarely.
Iβm so frustrated right now. I live in an area that has recently been affected by pretty intense flooding, especially in a very farm-heavy area that has a lot of the local dairy and egg production facilities.
All of my local subreddits are filled with videos of flooded dairy farms, cows desperately trying to swim in the cold waters with no hope of escaping, and even farmers attempting to rescue their animals. So many people are commenting that they are heartbroken, that they cannot watch the videos, that they feel so bad for all the poor animals who are dying painful deaths and trapped in cages with no escape as flood waters rise.
Iβm ready to tear my hair out. How can you make people understand that they are βheartbrokenβ over the deaths of animals that they pay to be murdered, day in and day out? People are so disconnected from the reality of eating meat.
Iβm frustrated. Iβm so sad. A bunch of helpless, terrified animals are drowning in freezing flood waters right now and thereβs nothing I can do about it.
Shit sucks.
Sorry for the very specific title, I just need to vent.
This blogger I've followed for awhile recently started eating animals again (she was "vegan" before) because of "health issues." Now she posts every day about her meals which often includes things like tuna, prosciutto, bacon, allllll the cheese, 4-egg omelettes, pork belly... and she often writes about her meals using phrases such as "so much love went into this meal" and "look at my beautiful pork belly" and it just makes me so fucking sick. She was "vegan" for how long, then made some weird childish-sounding post about how she "needs" to eat animal products again "for her health," and then IMMEDIATELY post alllll the time about how many animals she's eating and how she cooked these meals "with love" and "by honoring the animal."
Fuck you. Just a big, fat, fucking fuck you. Just SAY you wanted to eat animals again and MAYBE don't start bombarding your mostly-vegan following with images of dead corpses which you claim to be "nourishing" and "joyful." Also to then post about how things like Beyond Burgers and Impossible meats aren't "real food." And your class-one carcinogenic, hormone-and-pus laden meals are?
It just makes me so fucking mad. Because then people will see her posts (she has a big following) and think, "hmm, well if she can start eating animals again, then why can't I?"
Ugh. End rant. I just hate this so much. These poor animals died a horrific, lonely and painful death. And this person has the audacity to say that she's eating them with love.
he says with a literal fucking chick-fil-a sandwich in his hands
He even called eating animals βunprovoked murder." https://www.vrg.org/history/benjamin_franklin.htm
The book that changed his mind was called "Wisdom's Dictates" by Thomas Tryon. It had this on its title page:
Seventyfive Noble dishes of Excellent Food, far exceeding those made of fish or flesh, which banquet I present to the sons of wisdom, on such as shall decline that depraved custom of eating flesh and blood.
The book also advocates what is ostensibly veganism, albeit with a religious context:
*"*Refrain at all times such foods as cannot be procured without violence and oppression*. For know, that all the inferior creatures when hurt do cry and fend forth their complaints to their maker...Be not insensible that every creature doth bear the image of the great creator according to the nature of each, and that he is the vital power in all things. Therefore, let none take pleasure to offer violence to that life, lest he awaken the fierce wrath, and bring danger to his own soul. But let mercy and compassion dwell plentifully in your hearts, that you may be comprehended in the friendly principle of God's love and holy light. Be a friend to everything that's good, and then everything will be a friend to thee, and cooperate for thy good and welfare."
Me: we literally force everything on every other animals wdym lmaoooo, u think your dry kibble and leftover McDonalds is a natural diet for a dog? I didnβt know how to respond to the vegetarian three times a week thing though because it was so fucking dumb. Sheβs the type of person who talks over you and doesnβt let you get a word in, so I had to sit there for three minutes with my head in my hands waiting for my turn to debunk her βpoor plants π₯Ίβ bullshit, then she was like well science just doesnβt know if they have a brain or feel pain yet, I was like there is no comparison to a cow and a broccoli , she back-pedalled like nah I didnβt mean it as a argument against veganism or that theyβre comparable, like ok whyβd you even say it lmao. She always calls herself a βmeat addictβ while we were at the pub arguing this there was a few guys behind her that were like death staring me soo fucking salty, they looked like the meat=man type of dudes π anyways this is pt 300 why I hate my family and discussing veganism with people
I shared something that said this on Insta and Iβm wondering how aggressive it comes across lol
Iβve mostly known dietary vegans locally, with a few ethical vegans, and after hearing them discuss their reasons for veganism I started wondering about this.
This is of course ignoring obvious concerns for your own health.
I'm really getting close to being convinced by veganism. My thing is the all-or-none thinking...is there room for a harm reduction approach?
I also get hung up on the fact that suffering is what matters to me, not the sanctity of life. If so, what's wrong with eating clams or oysters? Let's say cognitive science could 100% prove that they don't feel pain? It's not like eating chickens, which certainly suffer immensley. My only other slight concern is diet (don't feel well-informed and I know it's very doable, so if you have a FAQ or guide for questions about protein/vitamin intake that'd help). I truly am close, because I wouldn't kill a cat or dog with my hands, so delegating that to a butcher is ridiculous..
Title says it all.
Im currently writing an article about veganism and i want to tackle that argument.
Im currently thinking of enumerating a bunch of rules from the bible that everyone isnt following ie. the mixed fabric thing to point out that theyβre a bunch of cherry picking hypocrites. However, it runs the risk of essentially being boiled down to whataboutism, but on the other hand, i can also use this to point out that people dont actually think the bible is a reliable guide for living our lives and that everyone is just referencing it when convenient and to shield their minds from facing the more morbid sides of our reality.
Im also thinking of pointing out that what the bible says isnt universal, but i want something much more potent.
Besides those two, what other counterarguments can i use?
My mother has never had meat in her life. I stopped eating meat when I was 14 and I am 23 now. My answer when someone asks me why am I a vegetarian is I dont want to hurt or be a reason for hurting living beings when I have many options of plants. I am so tired of all meat eaters asking me if you cant eat meat why do you eat plants? Plants are living beings too, that ecosystem works that way, animals eat other animals, plants cannot give the same amount of protein, and in general like how animals are supposed to be eaten. More like science backed up things and theories. Have you guys had such encounters? Do you have any arguments that ever make them shut up?
I manage a small team of 3 people. For Christmas cheer I bought everyone bagels and mashed avocado for breakfast this morning. Not expensed, all bought with my own money. Not one person has indulged. Alrighty then. More for me!
Edit: Iβm not taking this terribly personally. I will eat them all. Just trying to gift food to my staff and find it weird that omnis wonβt eat bagels and avocados. Apparently itβs a bad idea even amongst vegans.
Edit: turns out, it was the combo of avo on bagel. Everyone likes bagels, everyone likes avo.. they were just confused about putting them together. 1 person tried it and told me today βthatβs pretty good actuallyβ.
The top post on this sub right now is complete nonsense, there are no recent posts on r/vegan talking about KFC with more than 12 upvotes. People with low incomes, busy schedules or people who live in a food desert tend to rely on fast food. We should embrace corporations adapting their menus to be more vegan friendly. People learn through experience and omnivores seeing and trying vegan items on menus as well as seeing the vegan movement around them grow will be radicalizing and push more people our direction.
Obviously it doesnβt make the business suddenly ethical, but Walmart, Kroger, Meijer, Costco, Whole Foods etc, all sell meat and animal products and contribute to the animal holocaust too. Do we shame vegans for shopping at those places too? Of course not, that would be ridiculous and counter productive. The world isnβt black and white and just because corporations donβt make a complete U-turn and immediately eliminate animal exploitation from their business doesnβt mean we should condemn vegans who eat the one vegan option that a company initially introduces.
Before anyone comes at me, I havenβt eaten at KFC In over 15 years and the only fast food I eat is the occasional Taco Bell. That doesnβt mean Iβm going to turn a blind eye to classist gatekeeping.
What the f has this world come to? Seriously a little girl is RAPED at school and the school board does absolutely nothing and throws the dad of the raped victim in jail?? Voting is an absolute nightmare. Theyβre trying to enact the green new deal and promote a climate crisis yet thereβs a record number of ships stuck at sea right now waiting to bring goods to shoreβ¦canβt be too good for the environment? Theyβre telling little children they can change sexes whenever they want. Theyβre teaching children to classify and judge based on race. The list goes on and on.
I am not vegan/vegetarian. Itβs just my pet peeve when meat eaters get squeamish over animals being abused/slaughtered. If you want to continue endorsing the meat industry, you should at least endure a mandatory field day at the slaughterhouse.
I'm at a cumulative *checks obituary section of newspaper* 91 years shaved off of omni life expectancy. What have you done for the cause today?
