My dad ordered one this morning and I told him I think he got scammed. Have any one of you guys ordered one? Do they actually work?

Hi all. I’m helping my grandparents on holiday, and they have a DSTV Explora, Model 4U.

They don’t have their remote here, and I can’t find a way to change the volume. I’ve downloaded a DSTV remote app on my Android phone, and my phone has an infrared sensor. I can’t get my phone to start talking to the decoder.

The official DSTV instructions imply that I need a remote connected to connect an additional remote. This makes no sense to me, and I hope I’m somehow mistaken.

Any help is appreciated.

After 15 years of using the service, we want to get rid of DSTV as the recurrent expenditures are too frequent, unnecessary and getting expensive.

Which streaming service (eg Hulu, Amazon Prime etc) do you think is the best for Kenya? In terms of international content you'd get from DSTV(doesn't have to be the same channels) that also has provisions for local channels. It has to have live sports with access to the on demand shows and movies that you'd normally get from streaming services.

For example, this already removes Netflix because it doesn't have live sports, news etc.

Is anyone else also having this issue? was working great for me last few months and then today unable to sign in to local south african services DSTV & Showmax.. or is it me ;-)

Did anyone else get the update and are unsatisfied? UI is different but my biggest problem is the picture quality of the live stream.

i can't for the life of me remember what the hell it was, but i remember seeing some tv thingy have built-in games. if anyone knows what i'm talking about, please answer me lmao
