Edit: Been lurking on here for quite sometime and this really stood out to me. Love hearing your thoughts people. Thanks for the awards and upvotes!
I mean, you either bring it all the time, or you just gamble your gunfights whether the enemy brought it or not. If you both hit the same amount of shots, it literally just boils down to this.
For perspective, Japan pushes out great technology and their cities are really cool. BUT they've questionable pay, many live in really small apartments, and their work culture expects them in early and out late for little compensation.
Edit: Wow, this really took off. I'm so glad to see quite a surprising number of alternatives with some even preferred over the U.S.
Ftm, and I always wanted a girl! I imagined it would be easier to empathize and fun to shop for her as a baby, explain puberty in a better way than it was explained to me so theyโre better prepared, shop for cute clothes in tweenhood, prom dresses, hair cuts and make up if they choose, dealing with dating trouble, being close like friends when theyโre adults, etc. that sounded fun to me!
And I imagine for a man that having a little boy to do father son stuff with would be super cute from his perspective! To have someone to relate to and someone to give manly advice to about school and dating and friendships. Itโs surprising to see so many women say that they also prefer to have a boy!
What really shocked me on this sub is the amount of people who want multiples of one gender only. For me, I want to experience what life is like with a son AND a daughter. Id prefer to stop after two, but Iโd feel like I was missing out if I only ever had boys or girls that I might consider a third just to try for the opposite sex. So many people posting about gender disappointment on here say theyโre upset that theyโre having the opposite gender after multiples of the same!
To anyone (I assume itโs mostly women here which is what Iโm really curious about) who would prefer a boy, or to parents who want multiples of the same gender, why?
I hope this isnโt worded in a way that comes off as judge-y, Iโm just super curious!
I'd say Arsenal's are to get top 4. I'd like to see us get rid of Laca (yes, he's doing well at the moment but he's going anyway) and bring in Sterling. Push Auba in to the middle and have Sterling, ESR and Saka behind. I'd also like to see us bring in a midfielder in the style of Cazorla that's good on the ball as I think we are pretty weak in that area.
I'm convinced that this is hands down going to be his biggest test of the season especially considering what happened last year in Foxboro. Jackson held up well for a while but Diggs... well, he cooked our boy. This year isn't last year though, JC got better and I would imagine he knows just who he's got as an assignment.
I'm wondering how many comedies made in the last two decades will be considered timeless classics in years to come. Even though I'm a 90s child, I consider 70s and 80s comedies to hold up very well as well as a lot of 90s movies but after that? I dunno.
Movies like Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz are probably shoe-ins but are there many others? I'd personally throw Team America, Tenacious D and Superbad in as comedies I'll love forever but I can't think of many others that would generally be considered timeless. It could also just be that I'm tired and not thinking straight lol
... I really do not understand why the two are being compared if I'm being honest.
I am not a book reader, my wife is. I watched all of Game of Thrones with no background knowledge, and the same now applies to Wheel of Time.
The two seem wildly different to me with the only similarity being the fantasy genre. If anything, a more reasonable comparison might be Lord of the Rings, but even with that there are some clear differences.
Going in completely blind - I may even go so far as to say the first few episodes of WoT are far more engaging than that HBO "masterpiece".
While I had the benefit of my wife sitting with me and explaining certain things, while also pointing out many of the differences from the book - I very much enjoyed the show. The origin stories and built in trivia to each episode has helped too.
Perhaps I'm at an advantage not having read the books. My wife has pointed out things she does like, important things she feel were left out, some differences, and more she has to see more about how they unfold. Overall she seems to like it.
I know my thoughts may not mean a lot to some without having read the books, but I still wanted to come share my thoughts with genuine fans of the series as well as my concern over the unfair GoT comparisons.
Feel free to ask my thoughts on specifics but be warned I may not know the full context or implications.
The United States needs to set term limits on the basis of age for Congress and the President.
70+ year olds are frequently regarded as unemployable due to mental decline and disconnect with the current times, but a high number of them are serving as politicians in the United States. The oldest sitting Senator, Senator Feinstein is 88 and has served since 1992. Over twenty members of the Senate are in their 70s. President Biden is 78 years old, and his health and mental prowess are the subject of continuous scrutiny. The most extreme example, Senator Thurmond, served for just short of 50 years until he passed away at 100. Currently, the average age of House members is ~58 years old and that of the Senate is ~63 years old. Contrast this with the average age of the American citizen, ~38 years old.
All too often members of Congress demonstrate their age and disconnect with the times when they must talk about social media, tech, the internet, etc. with tech giants during hearings on the Hill.
Term limits would prevent leaders from turning holding office into a career, spending upwards of 30-40 years serving in office and hanging on until they can barely function in an official capacity. Term limits would bring new and fresh perspectives into Congress. Limiting time in office would also hinder the development of permanent relationships among politicians and interest groups/lobbyists. Yes, they would still occur, but they would come to an end once the officialโs term expired.
I recognize the increased turnover would lead to a larger number of politicians who are not as familiar with the legislative process as someone who has been in the office for over a decade. But wouldnโt this also provide a motivation to train their successors and offer apprenticeship/mentorship opportunities like that seen in other communities?
We have minimum age requirements for someone to serve in the House, Senate, or presidency, so why shouldnโt we create a maximum? Mandatory retirement was ended for most professions with exceptions, such as the military, pilots, and law enforcement. But does representing the U.S. as a politician require less mental prowess than flying a plane?
Any change would require a constitutional amendment, which I never see happening.
Like seriously what on Earth is up with them overdramatizing every little thing that's happened over the last few weeks?. Not just with Covid but anything to do with the labour party, the herald literally posting every rich white man's opinion on our country right now, Newshub constantly posting misleading articles on anything Jacinda Ardern does, and even journalists I used to like such as Jessica Mutch McKay posting absolutely terrible articles that make no sense and cause a bigger divide. Like seriously I get they usually overdramatize issues and create misleading articles for clicks but this is a seriously new level of crazy and it could get really bad for our country if they continue this.
