A list of puns related to "Downtown Edmonton"
The answer is no. Time to look for places out of the downtown core.
Title.
Iβm thinking about moving into a Boardwalk property in downtown Edmonton, what are some pointers/ tips that you feel free to share?
Is there anything I should know before I go for the showing and look at the apartment?
Thanks!
Iβve been out-of-country for about 5 years, and loved living downtown around 109 street and Jasper and over by the legislature near 105 Ave and 99 Street. We are considering moving back to the area in the next couple months.
Iβve heard from a few people that itβs changed for the worst, but these folks donβt live or have never lived downtown.
Curious to hear from those of you who live and/or work downtown as to how true this is, especially west of 109 Street.
This guys is such an embarrassment. I mean I've worked downtown for over 10 years and yes it's the worst it's ever been but to call for a "travel advisory" akin to visiting Syria during a war or something and act like the same is so cringe worthy.
We need a real solution to the rampant crime and homelessness there. This is exactly why I cannot ever vote for Nickel. He recognizes downtown is a problem and provides zero solutions.

Friday last week I left work and on my way out the building witnessed a man shooting up heroin. (at least what I suspect as heroin.)
Monday I witnessed a woman doing the same in the same spot.
This was peak rush hour both times.
Every day for the past month I have walked past needles on my way to work.
Its too bad these people don't have a place to do this where they are supervised and have a degree of safety.
Edit: Heroin* not Heroine. My phone autocorrects heroin to heroine.
BIG EDIT
Ok, lots of comments hating on people suffering from opiate addiction. Dehumanizing them and basically calling them trash.
Here is my story
I went through a rough point in my life where I developed chronic kidney stones. when I say chronic I mean one every few months where I am in the worst pain you have ever imagined. Until it passes. This bad period was 3 months where I had at least one a month. OTC pain management did not work for me. I needed something much stronger. I was put on Percocet's and when I was in the hospital they administered morphine for the pain. All in all I passed around 15 or so of these fucking things. Thankfully that is in the past.
However for 3 months I was using Percocet's to deal with the pain and when I finally came off them I went through withdrawals bad. Thankfully it did not possess me and cause me to seek relief. But it was really really bad.
I am a drug free person I don't drink outside social settings and I don't smoke. Had I needed them any longer than that I am certain it would have consumed my life. They are fucking awful. (This also marked the last time I took anything for pain management that heavy.)
Please show some fucking compassion. These people have a right to live.
It's a circus out there. And 111 is a special bonus this summer.
Been working for Garda a couple months. Got a shift last night in downtown Edmonton that went from 6pm to 6am. They told me not to drive as parking isn't free and to take transit. I had no problem getting to work with transit but the bus leaving work, which was supposed to come at 6:13am, never showed. Next bus was an hour later. I have a shift today from 4pm to 4am and needed to sleep so I had no choice but to book a cab which was a $35.11 expense.
I called Garda control before I called the cab and they literally told me "sorry, we can't help you."
Are these things normal especially for those who have permanent sites in downtown locations? I literally blew 2 hrs of pay just to get home.
